Must the show go on?
Sweden: Charlotte Perrelli set to perform despite health issues
As Charlotte Perrelli admits in her blog she was already diagnosed with a mild case of meningitis- which can be a life threatening infection- back in June. She opted not to take a break from work and subsequently collapsed last Friday when she was taken to emergency in a very bad condition.
Stefan Jordansson, Charlotte's manager states, though, that everything is fine with her and that she is currently rehearsing to be able to perform in the Rhapsody in rock show on Saturday. Robert Wells, composer of the musical, told Aftonbladet: "It seems she will attend this Saturday. We smsed each other and she is on the recovery. The show must go on. But there is no chance that we will allow a colleague on stage if the person feels ill. I will prevent it. We are all worried about Charlotte. But I am no daddy. Charlotte is strong and professional in her job."
In the case Charlotte is in no condition to perform on Saturday, Jessica Anderson will stand in instead: "I don't want to call myself a backup, I would attend anyway. But if Charlotte is not ready, I will assume Hero will be absent", says the 2003 Swedish participant in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Very special thanks to Jarrod for his contribution to the article.

Y wonder if Sweden can come up with something different - a boys band for instanse -
or something real vocally strong -
just like this one
http://www.youtube.c(...)5rAUro5F664&NR=1
They first said it was a nervous breakdown after her family problems, now it’s the stomach problem…
It must be diarrhea is nowadays is pretty curable!
Great ad Anna Nilsson!
Back to action!!!!
Mina:
Yes, you're right. I was only referring to general information about the artists.
I know, Stockholm. But on the other hand, that's how prejudices are created...because you know, there are many kids who watch the contest and they will grow up with the wrong idea.
Don't forger that it's not only the ESC fans who vote...actually they are the smallest percentage of the voters.
That's why I don't mind about his personal opinions about songs but if he wants to talk about neighbour voting and diaspora and so on, he should try at least to get his facts straight.
Jonny/Mina:
I don't think the British public realises what kind of information they are missing. The only ones who care are the ESC fans and they already have all information there is.
And if The UK are doing badly the viewers might just as well forget about it.
goo sweden goo charlotte perrelli
LOL, good point Mina!!! Its nice to know that europe is putting us in last place for a good cause . . . . . . the sheer lack of intelligence of most of the British public!
''''They'll probably even forget who wins, or which position the UK finished in''''
See, Jonny, that's why Europe helps you finish last, so you don't have to think hard to remember your position
Chwarae Teg
Well Terry's humour is funny, but whether people like his commentary is a matter of opinion
I understand the fact that his commentary lacks facts, and he is often in-accurate, but to be honest, do you think the British public are bothered? They will forget most of his commentary and the songs by the following morning. They'll probably even forget who wins, or which position the UK finished in.
The fact is that his commentary is there for humour, and thats it, he isn't there to provide facts because the British public don't want that, the British public wan't an evening of good entertaining TV, and Terry helps give us that
Anyway, as I said whether Terry is liked or not is a matter of personal opinion!
And Terry just says what the 8-9 million viewers are thinking! lol
Chwarae Teg,
actually I agreed with *most* of his comments about specific songs....like the Bosnian, the Azeri, and the Spanish song..like him, I also couldn't see the attraction in them...don't forget he was just expressing a personal opinion and I think that's what makes it interesting. Of course I'm not sure I would feel the same way if he made those comments for the Greek song
The only thing I could 'accuse' him of, is that he doesn't have all the facts about the voting, I mean there are some instances where I know better than him why this country voted for that country and he doesn't say a word...or that no, this country doesn't always give 12 pts to that country...so yes, if someone expects to learn everything about Eurovision from Terry Wogan, they won't, but they will be entertained, that's for sure.
Oh what a dilightful surprise!
Who would've thought!!
So sick after nervous breakdown abd intensive care at hospital!!!
She simply just doesn't spare herself!!!
Mina, Jonny
Terry Wogan's can be very funny, it's true - he regularly makes me laugh. Many of his comments also make a lot of sense - but then he spoils them with foolish remarks like suggesting Croatia voted for Estonia because they were neighbours (!) or that Bosnia & Herzegovina's 2008 entry Pokusaj was 'ridiculous' (quite the reverse), or that the UK did poorly because of neighbour/diaspora/block voting (yes, but add to that the fact that it was dull, dull, dull). In this way his some of his comments are very ignorant, with a whiff of racism, which is typical, I'm afraid, of the general public in Britain/England.
@mina.. no but iwas at rhapsody in rock concert.. but its just a matter of time before it is on youtube i guess
she was really good anyhow..
What did she perform? Hero or something else? I can't find it on youtube
Willox,
do you know if there is any video from last night?
she was great las tnight at rhapsody in rock
Well Jay, what I know is that when Ani was chosen for Ukraine, I already knew who she was and a couple of Russian friends I have also knew her very well.
Like I said before, of course, she wasn't Dima but it wasn't like they had never heard of her before...I just don't understand how that's possible but I don't insist because I don't know that many Latvians or Lithuanians or Belarussians
As for the 12 pts she got from Portugal...I don't know, I guess there are many Ukrainians in Portugal? LOL
Portugal always give high scores to Ukraine anyway.
In 2005, Ukraine only got 30 pts...7 of them from Portugal.
In 2006, 12 pts from Portugal.
In 2007, 12 pts from Portugal.
This year, again 12 pts.
I don't think it's a coincidence
Stockholm
Great, its a really good book!
Thanks Mina, its nice to know some europeans like Terry!! His comments are hilarious!
Jonny,
Thanks! I'll definitely buy it
Stockholm,
Cool, the book is called "nul points" by Tim Moore
And yes, I think the support of Terry is a bad omen, I mean he was supporting Andy Abraham this year and look what happened to him!
Mina Carnation
"And Ani unknown in the USSR? Are you joking???
Ani got 10 pts from Georgia, 7 from Moldova, 10 pts from Belarus, 10 pts from Azerbaijan, 8 pts from Russia, 10 pts from Latvia, 6 from Lithuania and 5 from Armenia."
Yes, Ani was almost totally unknown even in Russia before Eurovision! She had one hit in duet with russian male star Valeriy Meladze and participated in New Year show few years ago, but if I was speaking about her to some people far from Eurovision and ukrainian music - her name didn't say anything to them.
Kirkorov tried to promote her in Russia before Eurovision but he didn't manage to do it well, so for most of people she was still unknown before Eurovision.
Do you think that if Ani received 12 points in Portugal - she is well promoted star in Portugal? LOL)))))))))))))
So Ani was entry who got points to reach second place almost from zero popularity in neighborhood countries when Bilan's songs sounded so much on all USSR-countries for years.
Vincent,
Greeks are so strong headed that if someone told them 'heyy vote for your neighbours!', they wouldn't, even if they liked the song, just because someone had told them to..LOL
Only Cyprus has managed to get our 12 pts consistently but there are other bonds there.
I remember this year on TV, some presenters did say vote for Serbia (our friends and all that)..did we listen? No.
They said don't vote for ex soviet countries..did we listen? No again ..LOL
And I believe that the Maltese and the Cypriots are the same.
Awww don't say bad things for Terry, I love the guy! Would you believe I've watched the final 4-5 times (well, the voting part), just to hear his comments?
Especially with the Swedish guy he was hilarious..LOL
And every time he said ''noone loves the UK
'', or when the Danish girl said 'hello our friends' and he said ''we''ll be the judges of whether your are our friends or not'''......and the top for me was every time he said something about chiqui chiqui or the Azeri song (''I must have missed something about that song''
...LOL, he's great!
Well I suppose you are right, mediterranean countries do take the contest very seriously
Especially Malta, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus etc.
Jonny:
I'll try to get that book. Finn is still performing. I think the Norwegian entry was one of Terry Wogan's favourites that year. A bad omen I guess. Have you heard the song? It didn't deserve 0 points.
Vincent:
I also like your picture. Remedios Amaya would probably have done much better these days.
