Johny,
i agree with you, although "halleluia" has a very nice melody and it has become a real classic sung and covered all around the world. I know people who know this song althugh they have never watched any ESC

I like a lot of the Isareli entries, as long as they do not start japping about peace, religion and other annoying topics... Light a candle, amen, halleluija,.... gives me the shivers

THE TOP 3 ISRAELI ENTRIES FOR ME ARE:
1. RITA - 1990
2. HI - 1983
3. ILANIT - 1973

I have great memories of the Israeli entries. This year is an example of an excellent performace, but also may others like Avi Toledano, Ofra Haza, Yardena Arazi, Milk & Honey, Habibi, Yizhar Coher...

One of the best ever Israeli ESC entries could have become "Balalaika", sung by Ilanit in 1984. Although the lyrics are a bit on the nationalistic side, the melody is quite irresistible. However, Israel withdrew from the contest in Luxembourg that year, due to a religious festival.

You can hear Ilanit's song "Balalaika" on You Tube - there is even one version with a live orchestra. Simply brilliant!

Ramon, i totally agree with you and i add to this list of great israeli acts Dana and her song. By trying to find the cd single of this song one day after the contest i stumbled on one of the biggest love of my life up to now. Israel in the ESc rulez...Although i must say that it has presented also some pretty bad songs, but that is normal and it has compensated with some great ones. A-ba-ni-bi is for me one of my mst beloved and entertaining tunes ever

My favourite Israeli entries were Abanibi, Halleluja and Diva. I didn't like the 2005 entry much. I liked Boaz this year though.

i think shiri's entry in 2005 was by far the best israelian entry after some great nes in the 80's and after gorgeous entry of Dana in 1998. Boaz sng(written by dana) was very good, an original, strong ballad, but for me both the sng and the performance of shiri was even better. Israel at its best, both entries, i can not wait until israel wins again, so that i can travel there for the esc

Well...Shiri is great singer...I really love her...and she was truly the best in 2005...I even voted for that song...and this year Israel once again had pretty strong entry...I was there in arena...and Boaz gave such a strong voice performance...it was awesome...Hope that next year they will not send some stupid song...like they did it in 2006 and 2007...

I agree that Israel generally sends good songs. Their 2000 entry is the one I like the least.

I think Boaz was the best Israeli entry. Shiri Maimon is very close , though. I just thought "The Fire in Your Eyes" was more Israeli and "Hasheket Shenish'ar" was more western, there was nothing really Israeli about it, apart from the language.

I think Israel is generally a really good Eurovision country, although I hated 2007 and didn't really like 2006.
