System of a Down Armenia 2009

One of the the biggest metal bands in the world!

System of a Down for Armenia in 2009?

System of a Down, one of the biggest global bands in the field of heavy metal have gone on record to announce that they are interested in representing Armenia at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. The band, which recently split up, would reunite to represent their ancestral home country if an offer comes.

The American band with Armenian roots has a reputation for political themes in their music, and have written music to deal with issues such as war, corruption, human rights violations, drug use and religion.

The band, comprising Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian, and John Dolmayan, are known simly as system or SOAD by their army of fans. They have a huge following on the other side of the Atlantic and could be powerful enough to draw an American network into following the competition if they were to compete. They have three Grammy Award nominations and won their first Grammy Award before taking a sabatical in 2006.

The four band members are working on several projects, but have been alerted to the possibility or representing Armenia in Moscow.

This would be a huge boost to the Eurovision Song Contest reputation in the States following Timbaland's involvement and victory as a composer in 2008. SOAD would also be able to bring an army of metal fans to the competition in much the same way that Lordi did on the road to winning the competition in 2006.

Hmm.. but... is it really necessary to bring System of a Down o Eurovision? Armenia can be (is and will be) top 10 without them anyway.

hmm.. iget the impressin that the USA is snealing now into the ESc, a purely european issue!! i do not like this, and i do not like any heavy metal..well at least they are better and more real hard rockers than the pseudo-hardo rock masquerade called Lordi

I've only seen Fearne presenting the UK votes but she seemed very nice.

Yeah, I think her and the other guy in the video would be great together. They do alot of presenting together and people would watch the contest still because they're both well known :) :D

Yeah Paddy is one of the candidates that we can vote for in the poll, although hands up, I voted for Fearne Cotton! :) She would be perfect for eurovision also :) She was our spokesperson in 2006 & 2007 & shes bloody hilarious!! lol She also presented making your mind up in 2007 :) Here she is doing a parody of Leona Lewis "bleeding love" - http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=IuPa0dZ9oh4

In fact, the Estonian entry has grown a little on me :)
About Paddy, I think he's one of the candidates we can vote for in the esctoday poll.

Yeah they're great aren't they! :) I'd love them to be our commentators for the final but they aren't well known enough in the UK to follow Terry, ratings would probably dip :( But they were great in the semis this year, Caroline is infectious, and Paddy has a real interest in the competition! :) And if it makes you like Caroline even more, she said she was impressed with the Russian entry during the Russian-Greek break in the semi! ;)

I was surprised to see that they liked the Estonian entry. It's the song I like the least. (And I think you're right, the posts seem to appear in the right order now).

Thats OK, i'm glad you liked them! :) I think Paddy & Caroline are alone in liking the estonian entry though, bizarrely they loved it! :)

Timbaland a composer of "Believe" lol...noone in the States know it.

And System of a Down would b great for Armenia! esp. after Sirusho's very good 4th place!

lol Sakis should re-consider about Eurovision!

System of a Down for Armenia?... sounds like finally a reasonable song for Armenia - after three years of ear-bleeding...

Yes, why not....they should participate. But not with an anti Turkish song, no politics at the ESC please !
Well, and if they won't, I d like to see a Sirusho/Hayko duet - he already supported her at this years armenian PR tour, so I guess it is a real possibility !!
