After five years of career

Albania: Anjeza Shahini releases debut album

After five years of career, Anjaza Shahini, who represented Albania in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest, released her debut album. It is called Erdhi momenti and cotains classic pop and pop rock tracks.

Some of the songs were composed by Adrian Hila, who has also composed no less than three of Albania's five entries in the Eurovision Song Contest so far: Tomorrow I go in 2005 (16th), Hear my plea in in 2007 (17th in the semi final) and Zemrën e lamë peng in 2008 (16th). Some of the lyrics were written by Anjeza's sister Bela.

Anjeza Shahini represented Albania on its debut in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul. With her entry The image of you, she finished 4th in the semi final and 7th in the final. She therefore remains the country's most succesful representative to date.

A video clip of the album's title track was produced. You can watch the video below:

I see. Yes, you're a true Belgian :)

Stockholm, it's more complicated than that.... I am a good real belgian, that means grew up in french, went to flemish schools, and left Belgium when I was 18 to live in UK, moved again to France, Germany, Luxembourg and back to UK.... So I speak a few languages but let's just say I am Belgian.

Is French your first language? I thought you were "Nederlands" speaking.

His french was delightful aswell, those two reminded me a bit at the two Israeli presenters in Jeruzalem 1979... That guy was comparable with this one. Yardena Arazi was better. So was the Turkish girl

"The presenters (especially that guy) drove me up the wall."

Korhan Abay is an actor. Last year one of our Swedish film directors needed a Turkish actor and Korhan was offered the part. Before shooting the film he had to learn Swedish and he managed to do that in 4 months :)

The victory (NF Albania) of Anjeza Shahini – ‘Imazhi yt’ in 2003 was unfair. Mariza Ikonomi with the song ‘Mbi urë’ was the real winner. RTSH announced before the festival that Mariza will represent Albania for the first at ESC but than……Mariza came 2nd. Anyway Anjeza did a good job!
So far Olta’s song is my favourite Albanian entry together with the song ‘Tomorrow I go’ Ledina Celo.

Waw Mina, we agree on 4 out of 5....yihaa. But overal I thought the contest was quite weak. The presenters (especially that guy) drove me up the wall. And the sound quality was nelow level. With some entries I could hardly hear the music, just the siging....

In 2004 my favourites were Sweden, Cyprus, Turkey, Albania and Serbia.
I voted for Serbia but I would be happy if any of those songs (or Greece of course!) won. I was very disappointed at Ruslana's victory although I expected it but I was happy with the rest of the top 7 :D

2004, my favorites in final were Serbia and Montenegro (Lane mojo), Germany (Can't wait untill...), Cyprus (Stronger every minute), Turkey (For real) and Sweden (It hurts). But my number 1 that year by far was Cyprus.

marc,
I just heard the song again (to make sure) and I really don't think her English is bad.
As for the sympathy (oh look at the poor girl) vote I just don't believe there's such a thing in Eurovision..the girl was very sweet and the song was catchy...that's all.

@ Max Raspail
:) Anjeza's manager got in touch with me when she was studying in Vienna. (Because I created her first fan page.)
I got messages from her when she had time to send some. She's lovely!
Unfortunately, I don't know where to order her debut album... It was supposed to be released a year and half ago..!
I'll try to find out where to order it :) (Her manager Mario Weitzl and I aren't in touch anymore, he was very busy with his job!)
Send me a message at :
the.image.of.you(at)gmail.com
This way, we'll share information if one of us find out where to buy it! :)
xoxo

Max I am not.... I am french speaking . English is my 4th language. It's not just her English, I thought the whole song was very tacky and I am pretty sure she got a lot of sympathy votes... Like oh poor girl... Dima's english is very bad aswell, I just don't like it. He would have won aswell singing in Russian. And look at Albania this year, Olta sang in Albanese and it was stunning.

She sings "YOU're in my EYES" and her English doesn't annoy me at all - there are much more songs in Eurovision where the singers' English really gets on my nerves...
And I think it's really easy to make fun of someone's English when you're native English speaker...

Axel Kearns [47152]

Well defenitely better than the English version, but that's not too difficult, is it ? Did you hear the same thing when she sang the first time in the semi ?

I never understood the fuzz about this song.... Her english was so bad, well funny really, certain moment I heard her singing "he is in my ar.s.e.".... Well whatever> This years Albanian song was one of my favorites and for me up till now the only good Albanian entry. But good look Anjeza....

@ Guillaume
Oh, I've seen you've written Anjeza's biography on her myspace-site... Well done... Didn't know that information about her song about her time as a student in Vienna... ;)
Do you know where I could order the album? Don't know if I'm too stupid but I don't find any single page where I can buy it...

There will be 9 songs on her debut album included “Erdhi momenti”, “Veten s’e gjetëm”, “Shuhem & ndizem me ty”, “Nëse dyshon”, “Lot pendimi”, “Kur jelarg”, “Lamtumirë” dhe “Nga zero”.
I don't know if "Pse Ndal" will be released in this debut album. Anjeza worked a lot on it in Vienna and deserves the best.
You can join her MySpace page on www.myspace.com/AnjezaShahini
Have a sweet summer!!

FINALLY!!... Anjeza's so great, I love her so much...

The Image Of You is my favourite in 2004 and I think it also does quite well in my overall Eurovision charts... The performance was 100 % cute, I always feel well be listening to The Image Of You...

Erdhi Momenti is good, I'm just trying to get her album at the moment... I hope that Pse Ndal? is also one of the tracks of the album, I've never managed to get that song...
Hopefully, Albania sends Anjeza again one day - she deserves to win!

i find the english version of the song ok, i was happy that she passed the semis back then, but i think the albanian version is very superior to the ESC one. Her voice sounds much stronger, her singing is more dramatic. I was also very surprised to see that the albanian 2004 NF live orchestra had. I mis the live orchestra so much in the ESC..that is a rule i would like to see coming again. I am sure if thy had brought the albanian version dowm to 3 minutes and not created a new english version, Albania would have finishe top3 this year.

I didn't like her very much that year.
I think the best Albanian entry was Olta Boka's 2008 song, and it deserves top 10.
