Vania and Marion Welter in OGAE Luxembourg Gala

It may be that the Luxembourgish broadcaster has taken a long break from the Eurovision Song Contest but that does not mean that local fans have given up on the contest or the fun it brings. OGAE Luxembourg is organising their second EuroGala which will feature this year's Portuguese entrant, Vania Fernandes and the local 1992 entrant Marion Welter as special guests. The show will be hosted by OGAE Luxembourg president Eric Z. Lehmann and national LUX TV anchorwoman Dany Rasqué.

For the second year running, OGAE Luxembourg organises their Eurovision Gala which is bigger, longer and better than last year. Two days, with two special guests, a grand prize for the winner of the musical contest and Televie, a very special charity to donate proceeds to, it promises to be a very exciting weekend for eurofans.

Friday 17th October is the night of the EuroGala when the song contest will take place. OGAE Luxembourg invites all fans to participate with a Eurovision song to win the grand prize, which is 2 plane tickets to Portugal, kindly offered by TAP, one of the event's big sponsors. The winner will be selected by international jury vote and "televote" at a 90-10 split.

The show will be followed by a Eurovision retrospective with videos from past contests before it is time for the real Eurostars to take the stage. Vania Fernades, the 2008 Portuguese participant was happy to accept the OGAE Luxembourg invtation, as was Marion Welter who represented the micro state in 1992.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Televie, RTL's 48 hour telethon, which collects money for the fight against cancer in its every form, especially leukimia. The Gala is already and will be extensively covered by local media, as it will be attended by many members of the press.

Satuday will be all about Eurovision music for all the guests. The members of OGAE Luxembourg will be more than happy to assist any international fan who would like to join the fun with their travel arrangements, affordable accommodation and will be even happy to offer transport from the airport on arrival.

wow, a huge media cover. So the whole country will know that Eurovision is mainly for gays. In this case I will see no chance at all that RTL and Luxembourg will return to ESC. Do you seriously mean that the Luxembourgers and RTL will care about a contest dominated by gay people?????????????

I absolutely loved Marion Welter's song in 1992. Sou Fräi was a very rare occasion that Letzeburgish could be heard in the ESC. But perhaps it's good that they no longer participate as who wants even more disaspora voting?

No just facts sweetheart. And btw nothing wrong with it. Portugese people helped building Lux to what it is right now. They are a part of Lux every life. I mean almost half of the total population is almost Portugese, so they are Luxy's really. It would prob mean in today's new contest rules, that Lux would give every year full 12 to Portugal. Like Cyprus does to Greece and other way round. But there are countries like Belgium, Netherlands, Malta, etc do not even have that advantage. Belgium may be lucky to get a few bits from Netherlands and other way round.

Only reason that Vania will sing in Luxembourg is that 40% of the entire population in Lux in ....Portugese. Portugal was always good for a few bits and pieces from Lux during the jury times as out of the 12 jurymembers, there were always a few Portugese.... Marion Welter was absolutely dreadful, although I met her in Lux (where I lived for 5 year), and she was absolutely charming. She gave me 3 signed copies of her festival entry, .... Never even listened once to it...
