Song in the making!
Spain: Miguel Linde sets his eyes on Portugal!
Eurovision fans will remember Miguel Linde for his song Tu voz se apagará which competed in the final of Misión Eurovisión, the Spanish 2007 Eurovision heats. He tried his luck this year too in Salvemos Eurovisión, the Spanish 2008 Eurovision heats, with the song Eternamente.
In an exclusive interview with esctoday.com, Miguel spoke about his passion for Portugal and its people and music. He went on to mention that Vânia Fernandes and Senhora do mar had a great impact on him, and they were partly responsible for his inspiration to compose something for Portugal. 'Portugal is a country with rich culture and beautiful music and great artists, I guess it deserves to win Eurovision, I've always been passionate about their music and fado. It would be a grand honour for me to give Portugal its first ever victory at this musical event. I guess its high time that Portugal achieved a victory!', Miguel revealed about his passion for Portugal.
He is currently studying different projects with various Portuguese artists and composers, thus citing that he will try to enter a song either in 2009 or 2010 for the Festival da Canção. 'I will not say anything more, it's still early days yet! If anything materialises soon, esctoday will be the first ones to know! My dream is to win Eurovision! Maybe next year, maybe the year after!'
Does this mean Miguel will be exclusively concentrating on Portugal or does he have any plans for any countries? What about Spain? To this Miguel replied that he was keeping all the avenues open and was game to compete again for Spain and several other countries.
esctoday.com would like to thank Miguel Linde for this interview.

there were many times during the 90's that Portugal could have and should have won......in 1994 for example.... Sara Tavares and "Chamar a musica" could have won instead of Irish crap.....
I like his songs....and Portugal should have already won this year IMO.
I understand some people's intention's the best, but winning for charity is actually a bit humiliating...
Furthermore, winning with a foreigner singer wouldn't make us any proud. Quite on the contrary...
If we're supposed to win, let it be with a Portuguese singer/band and with a great song. This isn't football, where teams have to win because of the revenues... Here there's actually a matter of (healthy) pride and ours is seriously compromised here and everywhere else.

I'm glad Linda Martin won in 1992
Michael Ball was my second favourite then.
Jonny
lol. I think Ireland should have won in 1984 and I liked Italy too
Jonny
Have you heard "Silencio e tanta gente"? Compared to the other songs in 1984 I think it deserved better than 11th place.
I feel the same way as Mina. The only time I thought Portugal had a "top 3 song" was in 1984.
Ups! That was a mistake! But anyway id like to see Spain to win!!
Chris cake den eisai aftos p phge fantaros btw ?!
Theo,newsflash
pain has already won (twice i think)
Mina,I always enjoy reading your comments dear...
I agree with you mina ! Last but not least we cant say "portugal MUST win" coz its in the contest many years ...But i d like to see new countries to win like Malta ,Portugal or Spain or whatever. But for the victory it must be included a good song !
If there's something that all eurofans agree in is that Portugal MUST win the soonest as possible
Actually...no. I don't agree. I've never felt Portugal should have won (according to my personal taste of course) although sometimes I felt they could have a better position.
I don't think that just because a country has been participating for ages, they MUST win.
It's like saying 'oh, that candidate has been trying to be elected for ages, he MUST be elected soon'...it doesn't work that way.
This year I never thought Portugal should win.. I found Vania's voice beautiful and if I decided on the result I would certainly give Portugal a top 10 position but it was not a winner song for me..too depressing for my taste.
However, if Portugal (or some country that hasn't won before) sends a song I like as much as a song by some country that has won before, I'll prefer to vote for them..because I like the idea of new countries winning (new as in they haven't won before).
Hes intervied because the editors of this site are his friends! Thats why ! There r a milion other composers like Miguel and being uknown like him ... Paolo C. thnx!!
I do think theo has a point though! We get this Miguel person periodically talking to us like he can save the world/music with what he will write. Just because he was lucky enough to have written a song that was hyped up in the spanish selection and did not win does not make him an interesting person to read about. There are probably thousands of Miguel Lindes out there writing songs. But good luck to him and his dreams. Hope they come through for him, so we do not have to hear about them year in year out! Good luck.
Neither televoting nor juries can prevent political and diaspora voting. It has been in ESC from the very beginning and always. The results are never fare. Unless you do something very excetional, the you can break the rule.
Well, actually Lordis song in 2006 for Finland was very good + they had a great and exceptional show. The whole package was great. That is why Finland got its first victory
Finland won just because of their clothes and masks who mede young people and children vote like crazy........ it was the circus which won in 2006!
Tu vos ze apagara was the best song in the Spanish final in 2007......
If the system is not changed, Portugal will never win. Still wondering how Finland did it in 2006...
I think they should of won THIS year.
I'm sorry but I couldn't vote on the night!
If there's something that all eurofans agree in is that Portugal MUST win the soonest as possible, lol, or at least I think so... Let's see if Miguel Linde is good enough to make it possible. And Theofilos, if you don't like the article, just don't read it, why to comment TWICE???
It would be a grand honour for us!
I agree with theofilos. I think esctoday is making interviews with ghosts
Go, Mr Linde! Go and make Portugal proud
an uknown composer being interviewed ! omg
Great news. Tu Voz Se Apagará was such a powerful song, it is still among my favourites NF songs ever.
LISBON 2010, I BELIEVE IT!
I think it is hard that a Spanish composer had a chance in Portugal to do eurovision.
