Maltese national final participant
Kevin Borg in Swedish Idol
Kevin Borg, who now lives in Sweden, has taken part twice in Maltese finals, with a personal best of 4th in the 2007 superfinal with "Whenever".
He also finished 8th in 2006 with "You're My Dream". Both entries were written & composed by Jason Cassar & Sunny Aquilina, the team behind Chiara's 3rd place finish "The One That I Love" in 1998.
Swedish Idol has in the past provided many Swedish Melodifestivalen artists, but as yet none have managed to win the whole competition to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. However Fame in 2003 came from a similar styled reality show, called Fame Factory.
His participation in Swedish Idol makes a participation in the 2009 Maltese final seem unlikely, but around 80 other songs are expected to take part in the massive Maltese final planned for next year, the first stages of which will begin in November.

Strangely enough, it seems that the runners-up in Swedish Idol have been more successful than the winners. Here's a clip with Kevin:

yes and Laila Adele who participated in melodifestivalen 2006 are amongst the finalists..
Kevin Borg for Sweden = 12 points safe from Malta, it worked already in 2006 for Switzerland with Keith Camilleri
Maybe it will work the other way round. Kevin Borg for Malta = some points from Sweden?
Or Kevin Borg for noone. Maybe he will not participate in any selection.
i hope isabelle, claudia faniello and/or chirar are in the selection
