Denmark: Olsen Brothers' Respect climbs the charts

Twenty six years after releasing their first album, eight years after they won the Eurovision Song Contest and three years since their latest CD, the Olsen brothers are again climbing the Danish charts, currently at # 2, with their newly released album, Respect. What seems to be the most important feature of this album for the duo is their collaboration with Sir Cliff Richard, an artist they have admired and respected all their lives.

In a radio interview, a few years back, Sir Cliff Richard stated that if the Olsen Brothers ever needed a third singer they could simply pick up the phone. And so they did, which resulted in the three of them recording together Look up, look down for Respect. Jørgen and Noller Olsen flew to Portugal to Sir Cliff's vineyard where they worked together recording the song, something which they state was a dramatically rewarding and inspiring experience for them. "We were genuinely touched. If anyone had told us when we were little that we were going to publish anything with him, we would have asked this person to sit down and relax", says Jørgen Olsen who agrees with Noller in that "an artist having sold over 250 million records deserves deep respect".

Respect contains fourteen tracks in total, all of them classic hits from the international music scene. Among them, two tracks by the Beatles, The Mamas and the Papas and the Supremes. Sir Cliff Richard also thought up and recorded a new line for his own Livin' doll, "I know I'll never be lonely, I got the one and only", which is also included in the album. The album title is meant to convey the brothers' feelings towards the old tunes and lyrics that they have grown up with and developed a very special relation to. "It has been our intention all along that Respect should reflect the past, of course, but at the same time, it has been designed to spin a thread into the future by introducing old tunes in a modern arrangement", as Jørgen Olsen explains.

Respect can be currently found at #2 in the official IFPI Danish charts, moving up five places since last week.

Congrats to Jörgen and Noller :) Many great songs there.

Oops!
I haven't seen the Texas Massacre but speaking of saws I was at a concert last Friday with the Kransky Sisters. Ever heard of them? They are 3 weird Australian "sisters" singing songs from the 60s mainly and using obscure instruments (a hand saw, a toilet brush). And they talk a lot.

* it leaves the impression that artists have no further inspiration.

I am not fond of artists covering songs from other artists.
Especially when their WHOLE (!!!) album (almost) only consists of covers and no own songs.
For me, this is somewhat poor, I mean, one or two cover songs in an album, okay, but having no songs on your own... well... it leaves the impression that I have no further inspiration.

Olsen Brothers are the best winners so far in the 21st century!

2000 is the 20th century not the 21st. The 21st century began in 2001.
