Slovenska Popevka: New songs from Slovenian Eurostars
Maja Slatinsek, who has already participated twice in EMA, the Slovenian pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest and most recently in this year's Irish pre- selection with the ballad Time to rise, performed her new song Ob svitu. Tina Gacnik- also known as Tiana- competed with Morje in nebo. Tina came 8th in this year's edition of EMA with Povej. Anzej Dezan, who- after a highly controversial voting- got the chance to represent Slovenia in Eurovision 2006 with his song Mr Nobody that failed to reach the final, also presented a new song called Sopek maka. Besides those recent Eurovision stars, Lado Leskovar, who represented Yugoslavia in 1967 with Vse roze sveta performed a new song as well.
There were various prizes to be won:
- Marko Vozelj won televoting with his song Te ni
- Tiana won the price for the best debutant at Slovenska Popevka with Morje in nebo
- Anzej Dezan won jury voting with his song Sopek maka, which also got the prize for the best lyrics

I liked Mr Nobody alot, and also, gosh darn, Anzej is hot!
Actually no, Larry, because a jury boycotted Sasa and the public choice (Sasa won televoting by a landslide, we all know that!)! And whilst "Mandoline" became extremely popular among the fans, "Mr Nobody" (how suitable) failed terribly in Eurovision!
Sims Moyal: Largely because Anzej Dezan's song was infinitely better than that overrated drivel Mandoline.
i am still puzzled how did andjez with his horrorble song managed to be sent instead of sasha in 2006....
I'm very fond of Maja
Anžej also won the award for the best interpretation.
Yes it's nice to discover new songs from former participants, even from one who took part more than 40 years ago ! Thanx Florian
I'm Slovenian. And this was the worst Slovenska Popevka ever!
I'm really ashamed.
But I can feel EMA 2009's going to be great!
