Features duet with Missy Elliott

Ukraine: Ruslana releases Wild Energy in Europe

Ruslana the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest winner from Ukraine has released her long awaited new album "Wild Energy" throughout Europe. Recorded at the Hit Factory Criteria Studios in Miami and produced by Ego Works, "Wild Energy" blends Ruslana's unique musical sounds with modern urban influences by some of the world's leading music producers from the USA.

On her new album, Ruslana has recorded tracks with renowned urban artists from the United States, including T-Pain and Missy Elliott both known as being among the worlds leading Rap and Hip-Hop artists. The first single Moon of dreams is a duet with T-Pain and has already achieved chart success in both Poland and Ukraine.

Included on the WIld energy album is Ruslana's duet with the five-time Grammy Award-winning artist Missy Elliott. The song is called The girl that rules and is a big departure for Ruslana's normal brand of ethno infused pop and dance sounds.  In this new track a blend of Hip-Hop and R&B is brought to Ruslana's music. Missy Elliott has scored a number of word-wide hits over the past decade, but is perhaps best known for co-produced the Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mýa and Pink cover of "Lady Marmalade" for the Moulin Rouge move, which became one of the biggest world wide selling records of 2001.

Mario Mir,

She was not the worst winner my friend. To be honest all the ltest winners, are stars in their little part of the world but did not do anything in the rest of the world. Not Dima, not Maria, not Helena, not LOrdi.... no one really. The last big Eurovision star must be as long ago as Celine Dion.... All the rest are one day winners....

I don't understand why there's so much hate towards Ruslana on this board?

She is great and definitely one of the most worthy winners of ESC.

"Wild Dances" is one of the best winners of ESC ever I think and she brought such a great spirit to the whole show.

And even if you don't like her music you can't argue that the performance wasn't anything but superb.

Euro Sheep
Well for me I just don't like listening to that style of music so much. I mean, I think she was a great winner (if not my first choice) and "wild dances" is a good song, but i've never been a fan of her music in general. In fact the only song apart from "wild dances" that I have is "heart on fire" :D
But I still think shes a great artist and something Ukraine can be proud of, not only for her musical achievments, political aswell. I'm just not a fan of her music, thats all! ;)

I think there are some nice tracks on Ruslana's new album. True, there might be too much of her songs with the words "wild", "energy" or "dance (S)" but hey, that's her style.
I liked her a lot in 2004, she brought life to the stage which was something rare in that year and she really is an incredibly nice person.
My favourite songs on her new album are "Wild Energy", "Heart On Fire" and "Energy Of Love"!
All the best to that lovely Ruslana!

I just can't believe what I'm reading: "she is one of the worst winners of ESC", "she should get rid of this wild style" "another ECS flop"! You people disgust me!!!

Ruslana is one of the only performers who has true energy and passion on stage and she is one of the most worthy winners of ESC! Jonny, I'm surprised you don't think much of her album because for me, it is her best yet!

Good luck Ruslana! Go, go, go wild dancers!!!!! :D

She is one of the worst winners of ESC along with Tanel Padar, Riva and the Irish winners of 93 and 94.
She is totally unknown in Western Europe, while Sertab, Helena, Lordi and Dima are known by some public.

Antonio, flops don't win Eurovision, esp those who were voted by almost every country ;) Like it or not but she will forever remain the ESC winner and such sh1t like "she shouldn't have won" is extremely stupid because people voted for her, people made their choice so it SHOULD have won :) Have some respect for people and for the artist.

Mikko, this is amazing to hear that from someone from Finland ))) what about your rockers who have the same wild style. There's nothing wrong with it. Imho such comments like yours

Her new album doesnt sound amazing to me, but it sounds like there are a few good tracks on there :)
I think that Ruslana changed esc, by winning she proved the theory that a big show helps alot. Imo Turkey or Germany should have won in 2004 but Ukraine were good winners :)

Anyway, i'm not sure how much success she will have with this album, probably very little outside of eastern europe but good luck to her :)

She should get rid of this wild style. It is really annoying me anymore! so childish!

I think Ruslanas' win reminds us of how important the "vision" in Eurovision has become. A fantastic stage presentation can lift an ok thing into a winning position. I don't think this will bring her any international success (outside of where she is already popular), but good luck to her.

I bought this album digitally, and it was a big let down from what I was expecting. I head she is working with American producers and T-Pain and Missy Eliott, and expected something of a different sound from her. But the sound is in between wild dances and cheap R&B. :( The best track on the CD is "Moon of Dreams" with T-pain. And I don't mean to put down the CD more, but the English version of Wild Energy falls short. Not the lyrics really, but the sound. They changed the sound of it for some reason. I LOVED the Ukrainian version though.
