Finally confirmed

Hadise for Turkey 2009

@ Winter Wonderland

Did I say she is not Belgian? On the contrary I wrote "being born somewhere gives you citizenship" so probably Hadise may be a citizen of Belgium.

Additionally, Helena Paparizou (Greece 2005) was born in Sweden, Sarbel (Greece 2007) and Lisa Andreas (Cyprus 2004) were born in the UK, Vanilla Ninja (Switzerland 2005) is an Estonian girl band and so on.. So why is all this fuss about Hadise representing Turkey instead of Belgium?

@Alex Koenig
Guys, being born somewhere gives you citizenship, being grown up somewhere gives you chances in life, but these don't change your ethnicity.
---
Yeah, never said her ethnicity has changed

Hadise is a Turkish girl, born and grown up in Belgium. She could have been borne in the USA and be raised in Australia, but she would still be a Turkish girl.
---
Yeah, ethnically.

Comments that say she's Belgian because she was borne and raised in Belgium are very un-European. Europe should be proud of harmonious composition of many ethnicities instead of suppressing ethnicities.
---
What a load of crap. Saying she isn't Belgian is ethno-centric and racist bullshit. As you can realise no one is saying she isn't Turkish but she is most DEFINITELY Belgian too.
Un-European my ass. This is what's causing the right wing to rise in Europe right now. Treating your home country like a hotel where you just happen to live is a crap attitude to have. If she considers Turkey to be her homeland she should move there! Chances are that she'll realise how very un-Turkish she is after living there for a while. ;)
A person is defined by their environment so this is partly the country and society you were raised in and by your parents. It is absolutely sociologically impossible for her not to be Belgian. ;)

I ment they are big in their own countries. ALW is famous worldwide.

I'm sorry William my friend, but please do not put a genius like ALW in the same line as those 3 other artists. Andrew wrote and still does, so many good songs, worldhits, received an oscar, lots of tony's etc.... I mean most of the people here do not even know who Hadise is. She came fifth in the flemish idol ompatition, had 3 songs in the hitparade in Belgium, highest positions abot 15th. I mean to get a gold record in Belgium you have to sell 25000 copies !!!! So biggest artist ? I don't think so. Sakis is very big and Greece and Cyprus and in lots of other gay bars all over ... And the toppers, well they are big in Netherlands and that's about it. So ALW is sitting high up on his throne and looks down and laughs...

Wow, four countrys are sending some of their biggest stars to Moscow 2009. Sakis for Greece, De Toppers for the Netherlands, Andrew Lyodd Webber fo UK (wow!) and now we have Hadise for Turkey

Oh yes Desiree, that was such another great Turkish song. Excellent. I like lots of Turkish entries really, I loved Petro'il, Halley, Dinle, Superstar, Everyway that I can, For real and Deli.... Excellent stuff

**Yet no Turkish entry's been able to take over unforgettable Sebnem Paker !!**

I agree with you Ludovic. Sebnem Paker and her great song "Dinle" is for me the best Turkish entry ever. I liked their 2008 entry "Deli" too. But Turkey sended no better song than "Dinle" !! But let's wait for the 2009 song, Good Luck Turkey !! Please sing in your own beatutiful language !!!

VRT asked her to participate to find out if it would influence the voting. If Belgium would sent a "Turkish girl", would they also receive all the immigrant votes from the Turcs all over Europe ???? It could have been very interesting. But no, she prefers to go for save. I redict that the Turcs and the Armenians will fight it out together who will get the 10 or 12. As Hadise is presenting the Belgian Idols, i presume she will get some votes from the real Belgians aswell. For the rest it will be business as usual, turkish and Armenian immigrants fighting it out together. Those with the biggest amount of phonecards will win... Sad but true

It can be a spin from Hadise management. It is hard to believe that they will put an official announcement about her represantation in Moscow and then to erase it a day later. I think it is a mean of pressing on TRT broadcating authority to achieve better conditions before concluding her terms of participation in the ESC contest. I think that is better that TRT will give an official statement about her participation in Moscow and all this rumors will be vanished at once.

Yesterday Hadise management released a press message that nothing has been decided yet or confirmed. So that Hadise goes to Eurovision is not certain yet.

@ down low : about Helena you are right, because in a greek interview she said IF she goes back to ESC she will go for Sweden because HER career started in Sweden and NOT in Greece .
The fact that Hadise goes for TUrkey IMO is that she is more famous in Turkey than in Belgium! Ok in Belgium everybody knows her but she is not THE SUPERSTAR and in Turkey she is the newest big superstar! I support Hadise 100% because i have follow her career in Belgium and for me she is simply great ! I think we have not seen nothing yet from Hadise ...the best is yet to come :) GO HADISE

A female version of Kenan Dogulu...

Not really my style at all, but a very Eurovision-like singer, Turkey will do well again, it seems...

This is her choise and there's nothing wrong with that..Why some people cant stand that. And why do you always compare her with Helena or Kalomira.. Ok I understand you all realized she will be a good rival in this contest to other countries but if you have any better singers you should let them to represent your country.. Belgium broadcasters wanted her to represent Belgium coz they knew she had the potential to win this contest..Coz they have no other better singers for tihs contest.. If they have, they should try to send him/her..But they don't.. Do you think Hadise didnt know she could win for Belgium if she accepted to represent Belgium? So please respect to others' choises.. Because she knew Turkish Eurovision fans wanted her to represent Turkey more than Belgium Eurovision fans since last 3 years ok?

Down Low [52257]

I think her attitude is very ignorant.

If she feels Turkish and feel she could "never represent" Belgium (which happens to be the country where she was born, grew up and parents went to get a better life) then she should move to Turkey.

There's nothing wrong with her feeling Turkish but she should at least stop acting like an ignorant hypocrite. I mean she might never had a music career in the first place if it wasn't for Belgium.

Like I said, I have no problems whatsoever with her feeling Turkish but her attitude totally sucks.

If we take Helena as an example, she at least is living in Greece now and she never said that she would never represent Sweden, she just didn't do it.

Now, I know. Thanx to diaspora voting etc. it's easier to get a good position competing for Turkey but at least be honest with that, don't act like some ignorant person towards your home country and place of birth.

With that dissing attitude towards Belgium she doesn't deserve a singe Belgian vote.

she said she wants to represent Turkiye, not Belgium. She is Turkish and she will represent her real country. it's Turkiye.
