[UPD]Turkey: Hadise entirely in charge of Eurovision entry
TRT officially confirms, today, through their web site that Hadise will represent Turkey in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. The singer herself is calling all the shots by given cart blanche to choose the creators of the song as well as the language she will sing in.
The language of the song for the Eurovision Song Contest is always a much debated question in Turkey. Many people defend that if Turkey competes then it must be with a song in Turkish. But many also think that English could provide higher points in the contest.
After the language rule was abolished in 1999, Turkey competed in Turkish 3 times, English 3 times and Turkish-English 4 times, achieving its highest place in 2003 when Sertab Erener won with Everyway that I can.
[UPD] Hadise made her first appearance on the TRT evening news tonight where she spoke about her immediate plans. On a telephone interview, the popular Turkish singer confirmed the rumours that she had indeed been approached by the Belgian broadcaster twice in the past two years who wished to send her to the Eurovision Song Contest. Hadise stated she was honoured but refused as she was hoping to represent her homeland, Turkey, one day. Soon, she will be visiting Istanbul to meet her team and togetherthey wil decide on the song. She is also planning to write some lyrics herself as she believes she has a talent she wants to show the world.

WHY always that Negativity about Turkey,Greece! I dont get it! I wish all the best to Hadise because she is simply FANTASTIC......i will vote for her for sure 
because for me she hasnt make a bad song so far! Her music is modern and i am sure that Europe will fall for her style .......
ps : what is wrong to be proud of your country(every country has something special and unique)

Agzina saglik guzel yazmissin they live with their past so they don't understand .I'm Cypriot aswell but I love Turkish people so much actually I love all people because I'm citizen of world (Turkish Cypriot) . I m sure that hadise will win RSC 2009 who is the best win it I love you guys.

Hadise may have been born in Belgium,but this does not mean that she will turn her back on Turkey!Many Turks living outside Turkey feel very connected to their homeland and are ready to do anything for it since it is something very sacred for them!They never forget who they are and where they are originally from...
She is free to choose any country she wants to represent and this is non of your business!!!

My dear Cypriot friend, per your concern on whether Belgium will vote for Hadise or not, don't worry at all, she will get some (!) points as Anna Vissi got from Cyprus, Helena from Sweden and so on... I don't even speak about Lisa Andreas and Anette Artani.
Come on guys, OK, you don't love Turks or you just want to criticise something..Please be logical, put some intellingence in it...

I agree with Marlens. I don't understand why everyone makes a big fuss about her choice. Would you mind if she were a Belgian origin Turkish who was born, educated in Turkey and became famous there, and represent Belgium? I guess, you wouldn't as you would consider as Belgian.
Respected in Belgium? LMAO, noone ethnically Belgian, German, Dutch or French consider diaspora Turks, as you call them, call them as Belgian, German, Dutch or French. Even, YOU, so-called open-minded people, label them as DIASPORA rather than accepting they belong to the nation of the country they live in. Even many German fans, as far as I've been told, don't consider 1999 entry as German entry. So, after having discriminated people for long time, you shouldn't expect them to feel a part of those specific countries.

Btw...I don't understand why people want to make a big deal about which is her homecountry. I have been in Ghent so many times since my grandmother is from there, and no ethnic Blegian looks on Turks from Belgium as Belgian, so they treat them like immigrants. So how can a multiculturall Blegian look at Blegium as their homecountry when the ethnic Belgians don't look at them as equal? The same is in every country, if you are a normal "forigen" then you are not Swedish, Norwegian and so on, but if you are a "forigen" thats become famous, then you are. Like Elena Paparizou, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Shan "The Man" Atci are all famous forigens from Sweden that they love to call for Swede now, but before they became famous then the Swedes called them alot of racistic words. A cart blanche ? Hmm, good - Hadise should sing a modern english song, if she really wants to win. Just like Sertab - a song in turkish will never win the ESC I fear, and I think TRT really wants to win, as Istanbul will be one of Europe's capital of culture in 2010. So why no celebrate that year with hosting the ESC too

Yes I see what you mean, it is an interesting phenomenon because many Brits live in Spain, France and buy houses in Slovakia, Slovenia,Poland etc..........but either do not watch ESC because we don't get votes from those countries.
However I believe that Greeks living in the UK are far more likely to vote for Greece than say 20 years ago, and I wonder why this is. [for example]
I think that the past 10 years we have all changed our habits, for instance I always believed that I voted for the song but not the country, yet now although I still do that I will never vote for Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Turkey, Belarus, Armenia etc because I know that they all start with a headstart!!!
So we have a flemish and a walloon entry in 2009... I wonder who will get most points .
I would like to hear her sing partly in Dutch/Flemish. I know it's unrealistic, but on the other hand: Germany has send a song partly in Turkish, so why not the other way around? I think it would be good for the integration of the Turkish immigrants in the Netherlands and Belgium and maybe also the opposite way.
I think Hadise will perform a very attractive show in Moscow..Looking forward to it...

you live in a country like Belgium, you have education, health, democracy, life from that nation, but still regard your parents country as your homeland.............this does not happen in the US............it is interesting, I have clients who fled terror in Eastern Europe, live in UK, but still feel that strong affiliation with the Eastern nation...........I understand it and don't understand it

Hadise, seriously honey your "homeland" is not Turkey it's Belgium, your parents and heritage maybe Turkish but the country that raised you and fed you is the one you should be representing. That being said I love Turkey

@ no thanks almila....i think that esc 2009 is gonna be very good! also netherlands announced their artists so soon! whats going on???? everybody are working so hard! so that means that Esc is still very popular throughout Europe and that's good!

Although Turkish is a very unique language she will go for English...She might add some Turkish as she always does stuff like that.
For the first time I don't mind the language coz I trust her so much!She has the potential to make the most boring song listenable...
