Taking a "creative break"

Germany: Lights out for Texas Lightning

Texas Lightning, the country band who represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens, decided to take a creative break, starting at the end of this year. The band is neither putting a clear time limit on the break, nor planning on performing any live gigs during this time.

After their Eurovision Song Contest- song No no never and their album release Meanwhile, back at the (golden) ranch, Texas Lightning weren’t able to find any further common musical ground as a band and therefore decided, earlier this year, not to release any more albums but to focus on what they have always mainly been and still are- a live band. However, due to the fact that they didn’t manage to evolve any further, the band members find it senseless to keep the band in the current state and have decided to let go and continue alone for a while to gain new experiences and re-charge their batteries.

Before the beginning of their break, Texas Lightning will still be taking their trip to China and holding their traditional Christmas Concert, which will both be their very last one before their big break and also a farewell concert for the time being. Texas Lightning also wish to thank all their true fans and supporters for the last couple of years.

Texas Lightning represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens with No no never, written by lead singer Jane Comerford. The song placed 14th with 36 points and had huge chart success in Germany and Austria. Their album Meanwhile, back at the ranch contained classics like Highway to Hell, Like a Virgin, Kiss or Dancing Queen in country style, as well as the popular Rosenstolz- song Ich bin ich in English language.

No No Never is still my favourite party song... ;)

They were great, the song was instantly catchy, we deserved so much more - we didn't get it... nothing more to say...

oh we do have neighbours, quiete a few, actually DK, PL, CZ, AT, CH, F, B, L, NL - so it counts 9 !! So it's not about having no neighbours, but not having the same taste or the same language. With AT and CH it all depends on the song being successfull over there too. If yes.. 12 points are for sure, if not - nothing. We would not get any points from AT or CH just for being the neighbour. And that's just fine !

Farewell TL. Great song, what a smash on the German charts. A nice and welcome surprise at the time.

I liked very very much their entry in 2006. Very catchy and a very entertaining performance, though I thought Jane's vocals were a bit weak. But their music is very particular and I'm not surprised that they could not develop much musically after Eurovision.

I agree with Stockholm that Roger Cicero was better ;) Btw I have the instrumental and english version of "Frau'en reger'n die welt" if anybody wants me to send it to them ;)

w s
Btw on wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.(...)on_Song_Contest_2009 ) it says that Rene and Gordon are going together? Even if NOS don't find new reps and you send the two of them, it would probably be better than sending the three of them ;)

one of Germany's best ever entries. And the biggest Eurovision hit in Germany for a very long time. Auf Wiedersehen y'all!

I thought they were great, I remember my dad bursting out laughing when he found out that Germany sent a american style-country band lol ;)
I don't think "no no never" was perhaps the best song they could have sung, its not a really strong song, but they did perform it well and definitely deserved higher :D
But I suppose american country music isn't that popuar in europe ;)

Good luck to them ;)

More important, as of today lights out too for De Toppers. Gerard Joling has left the group. NOS has to look out for another act to represent the Netherlands.

Cristina, I have been to so many concerts, together with a big fanbase. TL weren't much in the media after 2006 but still everybody loved them. It's like they said, they are a live band first and foremost and they are all fantastic people. I will miss them, but luckily attending their last gig, the annual Xmas concert. I really hope for a comeback one day.

I can't say I will miss them, I didn't really like their entry or their style. But I wish them good luck and I would be glad for them if they managed to solve this situation and came back together.
Ana Maia, your comment is really nice, anyway!

He he, and who says Australia can't enter ESC!? Texas Lightning did a great job in Athens, and whilst I don't normally go for country music, I did like their entry, and some of their other work. Good luck to all the members.

So I say
Thank you for the music, the songs you were singing
Thanks for all the joy you were bringing
Who can live without it, I ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Without a song or a dance what are we?
So I say thank you for the music
For giving it to me
