Belgium: Katerine to release second album

Katerine Avgoustakis, who took part in the Belgian national finals in 2002 and 2006, is about to release her second alubum. On Saturday 6th December she will present the album at Versuz discotheque in Hasselt. The singer states that the album will be very much dance, with poppy tunes and influences from the 90s.

Katerine has achieved some chart success after she changed the record label and scored the #3 hit Shut up your mouth. During an exclusive interview with partner website belgovision.com, she explained that she has released four singles in less than six moths to promote the upcoming album. A release date has not been set yet.

Furthermore, the singer states during the same interview that she is dreaming of an international break-through. In Australia, the Netherlands and Canada she can currently be found at the top of some dance charts with the song Ultrasonic. The half Greek and half Flemish singer is also still interested in taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest - but not for Belgium: "Well, Flanders and the Eurovision Song Contest don't really fit together anymore, so this time I choose Greece, where the Eurovision Song Contest is still enormously popular and important."

  • You can read the complete interview on belgovision.com here.

Katerine finished sixth out of seven in the first semi final of Eurosong 2006 with Watch me move. In 2002, she had already been part of the group Indiana that finished shared fourth in the fourth semi final.

@marc x: I would feel really bad for Belgium. :(
BUT it could also be a marketing move. You know, the old "pick me or else." She may have no intention of representing Greece. She DID try out for Belgium once before let's not forget. :)

Although if she's being serious it is indeed terrible. :(

Just like that Turkish fake little thing in Belgium, the attitude od this Greek fake little thing is disgusting. Just admit the real problem, you two ignorant creatures. You don't want to represent your country because you know you don't make a chance in hell. Nothing to do with the fact that Flanders is not interested in Eurovision anymore. Lame excuse. And so dear Catherine, whenever you 're not selling any records anymore and once more you need to turn to government for some money, are you going to turn also to Greece ? Or do we have to pay for that ? This makes me really angry. Once again a sign that Belgium may sent Madonna, we still won't make it to the final... Nice, very nice... Thank you EBU and all the cheeting diaspora, political, neighbouring voting countries......

I think she is wrong about Flanders and the ESC. Flemish broadcaster VRT cares about it and usually their national selection is among the best ones, but they don't take advice from the people who really know what could work on the ESC when it comes to the performance. Except that, VRT has really bad PR and the people in charge of the ESC are really vain.

Anyway, I like "Watch me move" and I would like to hear her album.

I believe she is the "half-Greek" songwriter they were talking about as one of the people submitting lyrics for Sakis Rouvas's entry. She's pretty good, I really like her song "Ultrasonic".

If she has hopes to represent Greece in 2010, I think she needs to release some songs in Greece first for the public to become familiar with her.
