Best national final
36 of the 43 countries in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest held a national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. One of those preselections selected only the singer while another three were only held to choose the song. The number of entries in the selections varied from three to no less than 63 per country. Both in 2006 and 2007 the award went to Swedish Melodifestivalen - which country will win this time?

There are another four categories in the national final section:

- Best duo/group national final performance not to qualify for Eurovision
As a total of 559 songs were presented during the 2008 national final season, these nominations can of course not take place through polls. So we ask you to use the reactions system below to nominate your favourite performers in the categories above.

(There were a lot of great girls/women who didn't qualify this year, but none better than Leona. She really had it all; great song, great voice, beautiful woman and a fantastic stage presence. I think she could have offered Dima some real competition; what were the Irish thinking, sending THAT CREATURE instead of this brilliant woman?!?!?

Drusus 1: MF is a national final and should compete with other national finals. I don't like some selections too. Should I say to ESC today to make a special award for each of them???? It wouldn't be a exciting and fair awards selections then. It's fine that's you and some other don't like MF, but you should start to be RESPECTFUL against MF. Many people loves MF and its artists and songs. Respect and accept that.
@ Jonny K. : Well, just read these posts and you'll don't need to be Michel de Nostredame to predict that it'll be a Sanna/BWO awards show all over. As said - pretty predictable and a real pitty as others weren't that bad too. But most fans just watch the MF so these acts have a big advantage over others - maybe - as suggestion for future ESCtoday awards & to make it a bit more exciting to ALL ESC fans - there should be an award for " best MF act not to qualify " and the usual awards for all the other national final participants - it would be a relief. Please think about it, esctoday team
