Sitcom with a bit of Eurovision
Kylie and Dannii Minogue record Abba hit
Beautiful people is a six-part comedy series written by Jonathan Harvey, the creator of successful BBC sitcom Gimme Gimme Gimme. That show's title and theme music has been the same titled ABBA hit in its original version though. As part of his homage to the world's longest running television show, one of the episodes featured the lead characters dressing up as Bucks Fizz and performig their own version of the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest winning routine.
The new show is based on the best-selling childhood memories of Simon Doonan, Creative director of Barneys in New York and it is set in the British suburban Reading of the end of the 90’s. The sitcom was aired from 2nd October to 6th November with high viewing figures and positive reviews.
Kylie and Dannii Minogue got together to record a new version of The winner takes it all with the BBC concert orchestra just for the soundtrack of the series. Kylie is currently touring the world and her sister is defending her crown as the winning judge on current ITV hit show, The X Factor.
Also on the soundtrack is , (ooh ahh) Just a little bit sung by Gina G, which finished at a respectable 8th position for the United Kingdom at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest and became a smash hit around the world.
Baccara appear on the soundtrack not with their 1978 Eurovision Song Contest entry Parlez-vous français? but with their biggest hit, the disco evergreen Yes sir, I can boogie.
You can order the Beatiful People soundtrack from HMV here.

Love to hear Kylie.
Loathe to hear Danii.
Kylie and Dannii Minogue = Beautiful people
Hot singers!!!
Ben
I would be nice to see them in ESC one year!
Just how many tenuous links to Eurovision can you get in one story? The answer is above!
beautiful people is fantastic, the young boy who plays kyle/kylie is appearing as billy elliot in the west end,
I can only dream that Kylie & Dannii would ever represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest!!!
KEEP DREAMING CIARAN!! lol
Dannii is an Australia's Got Talent judge
If ALW's songwriting gives us some success in the contest's new format, we might even get Kylie or Dannii representing us at some point. They're both good, experienced performers with respectable singing voices, I don't see why not!
Johnny K It is fabulous. So many laugh out loud moments.
I've never actually watched this . . but now i'm intrigued!!
Thanks Nikolas for the article btw, and thanks Glenn for the article
I loved that show so much! Beautiful People must return for a second series plus, the very first song (apart from the theme tune) was "Love Shine A Light"!!!
