"Not another Gerard Joling"
Netherlands: Jeroen van der Boom is the new Topper
Following Gerard Joling's leaving the trio on 10th November, Jeroen van der Boom was chosen to fill in his place. Gordon and Rene Froger seem thrilled with the addition of the particular new member: "Jeroen has an amazing voice and we're convinced that he will do a great job!" they stated.
Jeroen himself feels greatly honoured to join De Toppers and get the chance to represent the Netherlands in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest: " It's a big honour for me. I'm going to be a part of the biggest party of the year. But I won't be another Gerard Joling. I will remain Jeroen. Gerard has done a great job and I respect him a lot, but I'm going to give it my own touch."

can it get wors with this soap opera??? i think the best solution is to send Jeroen alone to moscow
i am happy with jeroen. he is a very good singer indeed. The last year he had 4 top 3 hits from which 3 reached no 1!
and now the toppers are less gay i think this is good.
Now let's wait for the song before we can decide if we can reach the final.
And to all The toppers is not a comic act, it is an act which brings back the good good feeling.
I do not dare to say this is better or worse for the Netherlands. I can't even say the 'old' Toppers were likely able to reach a final in 2009 and that feeling remains with the change now.
Anyhow... good luck Netherlands

I think the best looking male singers are coming from Spain, Israel and Greece... with the big exception of that Norwegian bold backing, a few years ago... He must be the absolute best looking one.... He was backing for Altid summer, On my own....
So perhaps Anouk could join the Toppers, too?

Without sounding too mean . . . I think they got rid of the right Topper. You only need to do an image search to Gerard Joling to see that he is way tooooo glitter and glamorous even for eurovision! I think their performance will be a little more down to earth now
I knew they'd still be going to Moscow. I think regardless of the dated uber-cheesiness of the whole thing, De Toppers will put on a really good performance in Moscow and I wouldn't rule out their chances of qualifying. There might be a demographic in Europe that still thinks this is what Eurovision is about after all.
I think this really could turn things around for the Netherlands Good luck to them

Another bottom result for the Netherlands.
Jan Oliver Stenmarck, only the combination of Gordon and Gerard made De Toppers what they were. Without any of those two, nothing of the original drama is left. Don't know if the result will be good, but the glitter and glamour is now definately out of the question. And while I am not a fan of Rene Froger or Jeroen van der Boom, I have to admit both men are quite serious when they are on stage alone.
Oh no, so the nightmare really continues and those idiots really get send?
Well, let's hope the Netherlands will reach the final in 2010 with something good cos that crap deserves a big fat zero points!
I can't believe they are actually going through with this.
And I don't care about the guy, I don't him but fact is that there's still two of the original morons left, just cos we won't have to bear Joling doesn't mean they will be any better!

He seems ok in a few videos I've watched. I don't know if the combination with the Toppers will work out. He doesn't seem as 'glam' as the others so that's a good thing for me 
This looks interesting. All this promise of glam and glitz makes me eager to see what they will produce.
This news in so amazing, i'd always liked the idea of Da toppers but now Jeroem van der boom will be part of the team! Netherlands will for sure qualify for the final. His song "Jiz bent so" is one of my favorutes, i've listened to it to death, and have it as my alarm lol! I so cant wait till may now!
This guy seems alright to me. I downloaded his latest "Het is over" which is a really nice ballad. His voice is not unlike Gerhard Joling's actually, so I think this will work out fine. And besides, shedding Joling will rid De Toppers of the inevitable has-been stigma that they were bound to attract with Joling who represented the Dutch some 20 years ago. Sad, but true.

Now how to get rid of the other two...
