Sweden: first Melodifestivalen names next Tuesday

The first eight performers in Melodifestvialen 2009, the Swedish national selection for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow, will be revealed by broadcaster SVT during a special press conference next Tuesday in Stockholm.

In October, 28 of the 32 songs in the selection along with the respective songwriters were revealed. Many rumours have been spread regarding the performers, however none of them has been confirmed. As every year, four songs will be added as 'wildcards'.

  • You can find the 28 song titles already revealed here.

Eight songs will compete in each heat. The duels previously used in the second chance round will be featured already in each heat. Out of the five songs that go through to the second round of voting, the song with the biggest number of votes will face the one in fourth place in a sing-off, and number two and three will similarly face each other. The winner of each sing-off will go directly to the final in Globen, whereas the loser will get another try in the second chance round.

You want Måns to win, even if you've not even heard his song. Well, then it's not about the song, isn't it?!

I think the best song deserves to win.

It will be the ones always taking part and/or those without a chance of winning the MF anyway.
