As the webcast is not working, we cannot comment on the songs tonight. As a substitute, we offer you some Eurovision background information about the participants and composers.
1. Q- Live for today
This entry was composed by Paul Giodimaina, who represented Malta as a singer in 1991, when the country returned to the competition after 16 years. He sang with Georgina, who will perform song number four, and finished sixth. The group Q consists of Fiona, Glen Vella, Pamela, Leontine & Luca and all of them have previously taken part in Maltese national finals (Leontina was also a backing singer for Lynn Chircop in Riga).
2. Josmar- Circus
Josmar takes part in the Maltese selection for the first time. He is the only singer-songwriter in tonight's show.
3. Jessica Muscat- Smokescreen
Jessica Muscat returns to the MSFE stage after her song Tangled was eliminated in the semi final last year.
4. Georgina- To be myself
As mentioned above, Georgina represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 1991. She would take part in many Maltese finals in the 1990s but never qualify again. Her last attempt was in 2004, when she finished 15th and second last. As a composer, she brought Malta its first third place in 1992 with Little child. To be myself was composed by Rafael Artesero, who composed the Andorran entries in 2005 and 2006.
5. Laura Bruno- Something about you
Laura Bruno is another newcomer in MSFE. The song is the second Vella/Borg collaboration of the evening. They have previously written five Maltese entries, among them Vodka and Vertigo.
6. Marija Galdes- Castaway
The lyrics of this song were written by Rita Pace, who has previously contributed the lyrics to various MSFE entries.
7. Vittorio & Dorothy- Promises
Vittorio & Dorothy also take part for the first time.

i really like Q together. Their voices really match and cant wait for their other song.I really wish some comments in here would be more bis sens as sometimes some comments are nothing more but to try to push a certain singer and break all the other competitors.; Dont forget that in here we all are hiding identities so its much easier to be destructive and not be fair in our comments.So pls grow up and lets have a great winning song this year as its been some time now!!
heyy what is going on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the songs that we had in thsesto semi finals are crap!!!!! Our first song MARIJA IL-MALTIJA is better than we heard in these twooo? (answer me pls) Georgina is tooooo ooooooooolllllllllddddddd to repesent us we need something like CHIARA a very strong voice or CLAUDIA FANNIELLA nice women with strong voice or JO ZETTE (ray calleja) a fuuny character with not bad voice........ what is going on Q were not that bad but i have to say it.They are people that they want to go and they didnt colify so they worked soo all their piont would won them.... Last year JESSICA MUSCAT had a beter song that SMOKE SCREEN ?????? (answer me )DORITY and VITTORIO is the best i think we heared since now.when big people sings about CIRCULS ohhhh noo (fliema stat wasalna) what is going on?????

I'm Maltese and I really hope that the coming shows will have some gr8 songs because till now there were really few Gd in my opinion!!!
For me Promises(Vittorio+Dorothy) and Rosman's songs were gd!!GL for the comong singers!!!!!!

Another crappy songs. The only I could listen to (but also not more than one time) is Vittorio & Dorothy- Promises.
As much as I like Malta's entries this year is bad...

well stephen sammut, i have to say that it is okay for you and others to have ur opinion, and its okay to say that the first 14 songs are pathetic. BUT IM ALSO GOING TO SAY MY OPINION AS A MALTESE ALSO> AN MY OPINION IS THAT JESSICA MUSCAT AND FRANCESCA BORG ARE THE TOP 2 SO FAR AND THE SONGS ARE NOT PATHETIC
my favs are promises and smoke screen. Jessica Muscat is my second cousin, so i am 100% supporting her
Another point i would like to note. By insulting people who voice their opinion on songs. is not going to help us get any votes from other countries. Once songs are open to the public, then everyone has the right to criticize whether good or bad. If we, as Maltese, do not want to be criticized , we should either present decent songs as we have had in the past or just decide to withdraw and not take part any more. But insults show how immature we really still are.
It is about time that maltese people who voice their opinions on the net should not throw insults if they want to get the sympathy of foreigners whom after all, it is they who we have to rely for votes. By insulting people or countries, we are simply making more enemies than friends. I remember last year, there were some Maltese people who were insulting the slovenian entry and the slovenian entry was not even in our semi-final. I think it is pathetic and when i see insults, i feel ashamed to say I am Maltese.
Please, people of Malta , grow up and start to accept criticism, whether it is good or bad. By being rude and arrogant, you will never get any sympathy or good comments from anyone
I am Maltese. So no one can insult me for being from another country. But until now , most of the 14 songs that took part in the first two shows are very pathetic and would definitely finish at the last place of the eurovision song contest semi-final. In my opinion, they are very very weak songs. Maybe the best two were of Rosman Pace and Night at the Opera. But nothing to write home about these in the long run.
I am only hoping that Chiara or Claudia Faniello will present two strong songs which would be compatible for the eurovision song contest.
However, even though I would love to see Malta win a Eurovision Song Contest, the standard of the first fourteen songs presented was extremely poor

i did not lke jessica ..neither q..(like 5 ppl talking after each other..so pethetic)..nor georgina...the only one i really enjoyed is CIRCUS although is not a winner either....waiting for chiara.
after hearing all the songs once again I think Q are the best. I don't agree with most of the comments about Jessica. she's not bad but no winner. Q have an up beat song and the voices are excellent and v profesional.. the more i listen the more i like. Will malta be wise this time??
