Results analysis

For the fifth time out of six contests, a country won that has never won the adult Eurovision Song Contest before (additionally, Spain won the second edition of the junior contest but has not won the adult contest since 1969), although Russia would win two years after the junior victory. With Georgia winning, it is already the fourth year in a row that a former USSR country wins (among them Belraus twice).

Along with Russia's 154 points in 2006, Georgia has received the second highest amount of points in the competition behind Spain's 171 in 2004. They have received 10.14 points per country, a remarkably high average - the highest average amount of a winning country in the adult competition since 1975, when the "12 points" were introduced", was achieved by the United Kingdom in 1976: 9.65.

God, you're getting childish!
I didn't took your post ENTIRELY upon myself, but at least partly. And I think that's right because your statement went clearly in my direction, so I also have the right to defend myself...
But now I'm gonna take off this pointless discussion because as I stated already, I try - for my part - to behave also in the internet in an appropriate manner and not to use this faceless medium as an occasion to live the uneducated parts of me...

Bosnia, Israel, Azerbaijan and possibly Turkey, are entering JESC next year

Oh really? Then Netherlands, Greece, Cyprus, Belgium should definitely withdraw next year. OK Greece will withdraw due to low interest (they took part this year only because it was in Cyprus i think) but Netherlands Belgium had amazing entries and flopped! So they'd better withdraw and focus on the senior Eurovision.

@ Max Raspail
The fact that you took my statement entirely upon yourself means that I wasn't too far from the truth. ("...The point of departure is always himself", you know.)

Congratulations Georgia! Well deserved win, they were so cute and made me smile and laugh, a great and unexpected performance. My other favorites were the Ukraine (great outfit and dancing) and FYR Macedonia (that kid had the best voice). BTW how consistent can FYROM be in JESC? IMO they could've easily won in both 03, 05, 06, 07 and in 08! I hope they can keep up the high standard and perhaps win in the Ukraine next year:-)

Hold your horses! When you don't have a clue about the reasons why people are stating something, you can also ask them therefore before you insult them...
It's a pity that the people here often seem to live the aggressive parts of their personality...

Congratulations from Serbia! That must have been very difficult to sing - not only because of the lyrics!

We will withdraw because there's not enough public interest in the contest. I hope it's not because of our bad placings, that would be just stupid.

@Mikey Rock

You are so pathetic. ;)

Bosnia, Israel, Azerbaijan and possibly Turkey, are entering JESC next year. So, it isn't important if Belgium, Netherlands and Greece withdraw.

Belgium and the Netherlands should forget withdrawing. They should give way to narrow-minded and xenophobic ones (calling themselves "fans" ;) to do so instead.

Max,

You can say whatever you want my friend, but I really think that the final order, top 7 was totally correct. I can't see what all the fuzz was about in that Belgian song. I only regretted Cyprus not seeing in top 5 because I liked that song and performance. And you could feel, that song really being written by kids. A thing you can't say of every entry.

About Georgia, I can be very short. I absolutely loved it, it was new, fresh and very well performed. So well done.

And oh yeah, I thought the organisation, the actual show and the presentation were all awesome. Well done Cyprus and let's hope a good rehearsal for when you guys win the big contest....

Is there any comparison for Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Belgium and Netherlands to all EASTERN BLOCK countries of ex-ESSR or ex-Yugoslavia? OF COURSE NO!!

Now, if by claiming GRE, CYP and MLT are eastern EU or no eu or asian or african... or whatever makes some fans happy, it's really OK, but the fact is simply a fact!

I think Cyprus put on a fantastic show on Saturday night. Big ups for them, and I think if they ever won the Eurovision Song Contest then that they would put on a brilliant show.

Fantastic winning song in Georgia. Rightful winner!!
I think Lithuania & Malta had a fab song too :-)

@galantis loukakis

I don't want to make some new topic here but I have never said that Cypriats are Asian. I just said that island Cyprus is teritorialy in Asia. So, from your teory, milion of Russian can move to some island in North America, and then, that island would be European! I really can't understand that.

@Cyprus is gonna win ESC next year

Wow! What smileys! :)
