Exclusive interview with Turkish Eurovision entrant
Hadise: "Thank you for all your support"
How did you decide to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest?
"When TRT asked us to participate for Turkey this year we didn't hesitate and wanted to be a part of this because this is something that happens once in your lifetime!"
What does the Eurovision Song Contest mean to Hadise? Do you think it will contribute to your career after contest?
"The Eurovision Song Contest means a lot to me, we used to watch Eurovision together with the whole family. When I was a child I remember watching Eurovision for the outfits especially! So being in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009, it will be a journey for me and I will try to have fun through this journey even though it gets really hard. I think Eurovision is an experience that will make me grow as an artist, a performer and a singer. So yes definitely it will contribute to my career."
After a 11 year televoting period, the authorities decided to change the system to 50% Jury Voting and 50% Televoting. How do you find this decision?
"I think this is really good."
How would you rate Eurovision Song Contest in means of musical quality?
"Every year we see so many different artists and acts on the stage of Eurovision. I am not someone who will judge the singers but I can say that every year it's a surprise to watch so many different performances."
What are your favourite songs in Eurovision Song Contest history? What are your favourite Turkish songs in Eurovision Song Contest history?
"I don't remember the title but it goes like this: Through the storm I called your name, to find you... My favourite Turkish songs: Everyway that I can and Athena For real (up I wanna bring you up)."
How do you imagine the presentation of Dum tek tek on stage in Moscow?
"I hope the stage will be big enough so I can just do my thing!"
Expectations are so high in Turkey about you. Do you feel the pressure on you? Are you maybe concerned about a possible failure?
"First of all I am very happy that everybody loves the song and my energy on stage. So thank you again to all of you out there supporting me... On the other hand yes, I feel a little pressure, because this is a contest and you never know...I just want to do a perfect show and I just want to say yes we did it when I come off the stage."
Can you compare the musical scene between Turkey and Europe (or Belgium)? What are differences?
"Well the turkish people in Turkey love turkish music with turkish lyrics..but I don't think you can compare music of different countries with each other because music is music...and music is all about feeling the vibe and the message in a particular song."
Do you have any message to esctoday.com readers?
"Thank you all for your support and positive messages about me and about the song. Eurovision for me is all about the support, I realise that now, so don't stop supporting. Much love to all of you".

turkish entry is more than disgusting .
same shit every year
Jonny is right, esc is watched by millions in the UK so they would have still participated whether or nt there was a jury.
**I said " . . there reason simply . . ", I should have said " . . their reason simply . . "
Lina: I don't know where you're getting this from, and yes I know the UK should try harder, but what i'm saying is that without juries i'm still 100% certain the BBC would have come back.
As I said before, for the BBC eurovision is easy, popular TV that guarantees them some good viewing figures for a Saturday night somehwere in May
When the BBC confirmed they were taking part in 2009 there reason simply was that ESC provides good value for money for the liscence fee payer
And despite the fact that we came bottom 5 from 2005-2007, the BBC still confirmed participation for the following year reasonably quickly despite the fact that juries weren't introduced, why would ESC 2008-2009 be any different?
For the BBC eurovision isn't about music, or fair results, but about viewing figures!
i m very curious to see this year with the new system of 50/50 if again one ex soviet or one ex yugo win what everybody ( especially from UK beacuse bbc want to come back the jury system so badly) is going to say
They will say that juries must be back 100%
But I think it will depend on the placing of each country, too. If the Uk is in the top 10, I'm sure they'll be very happy.
if big 4 starts with semifinals they will allways stay at bottom 4 again in semis and i think they don't attend anymore and esc becomes like jesc without western countries.. to pass semifinals isn't the real goal in esc..
Lina: I agree, if the UK and the other 3 were in the semis they would probably try harder, and I also agree that the winner will still probably be eastern because those countries put in more effort
However whether the BBC were desperate for juries in something completely different . . .they confirmed their participation in 2009 even before the idea of having a jury was considered, you see the BBC don't really care about the results of the UK song, more about how many people watch the programme, so whether there is a jury or not is probably of no interest to them. I'm sure they like the idea, but I seriously doubt they pressured the EBU for a jury return
WE LOVE HADİSE! GOOG LUCK! 2009 WİNNER TURKEY WAUUOOWW
Mina
like the juries back in 1958 ..... Sweden gave only 2 points....you know to which song
I think the situation was even worse. Sweden gave 1 point to Italy. Shame on us
i watch esc since 2003, if we review all uk entries : uk's 2005 entry was fantastic and maybe deserved to win, 2004-06 entries were really good, 07 was childish but ok, 08 was bad, 2003 was horrible...
"Its time UK to send something different and not that old fashion songs" - Lina, the UK hasn't been sending old fashioned songs generally. I wouldn't call "touch my fire", "cry baby". "no dream impossible" or "teenage life" old fashioned
