Songwriter on debut album
Take That's Gary Barlow joins Jade team
Jade Ewen has already promoted the United Kingdom entry by appearing at the Malta and Greek national finals. The song has received more international exposure than any British entry in recent memory. Jade is not just attracting attention internationally, her professional and calm approach is winning fans in the music industry.
Gary Barlow, lead singer and songwriter for Take That has now joined Team Jade. He will write some of the pop tracks on her debut album, expected to be released after the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow this May. Gary Barlow has written the lyrics to some of the most successful songs in history and has helped to make Take That the most successful British band since The Beatles. His songs include the Take That hits Pray, Everything Changes, Relight my fire and Back for good, which hit number one in 31 countries.
He has also written songs for Swedish 2008 Melodifestivalen entrant Ola Svensson, German 2007 National Finalists, Monrose, former Luxembourg representative, Lara Fabian, as well as international stars Christina Aguilera, Donny Osmond, Elton John, Attomic Kitten, Charlotte Church and Blue.

Yikes! Lots of crossness on here! Thought the Eurovision was meant to be fun! We all have different tastes in music and different ideas of what a good performance is and that's fine, no need to get angry about it! I, for instance, think it's a shame the UK's entering Jade's boring drivel in the contest and not 'Boom! Sexy Sexy!' by The Huxtatrons - much more fun!
Yes Stuart, maybe you can help us get lives.....this bitchiness is all new to me i have to say.
god you guys need to get yourself a life...seriously, its only a music contest, its not that important!
G!oh...............have you been drinking alcohol? My God, you make no sense at all. If you are typical of Romanian people, then no wonder your country is in such a mess. But thank you for your kind words about Jade. As for Romanian entries, I've not heard your song this year, but i loved Romania 1998 and 2006. Lol
I spend so many hours posting nonsense in here because I know that there´s an idiot like you Richard Farnham who´s avid to read them, even though you said before you were on your way to get a life where I´m not in. Pity you can´t keep your word.
And pretty clear to me that you´ve never had a real crisis or drama or anything of importance in your life to deal with, that´s why you keep popping into a conversation that has nothing to do with you. Get a life.
Moshe.....................i hope you are right! It's a long time since Israel has given the UK any points, let alone a 12. In fact, apart from 1981, i don't think we've ever had a 12 from Israel ?
And Owen, well done on your postings and, yes, ignore Mi Reina and don't respond now. She's Clearly a nutter with nothing better to do with her life.....and clearly she's never had a real crisis or drama or anything of importance in her life to deal with, to be spending hours on here posting such nonsense.
Owen Williams, you´re such a prima donna! Stop shouting. Or do you think that by shouting you´re gonna make a impression on anyone? And as far as I´m concerned, I´m allowed to say my opinion and it is already well-known, I can only guess. You know what? you know nothing about me, if you knew who I was and how I was brought up you would not portray yourself as the only person who has experienced discrimination.
You should live according to what your preach: Don't make snap judgements about PEOPLE.
The mirror has two faces:
Mi Reina
I'm saying this one last time! then you can scream and shout all you want, THEY ARE NOT SEXIST COMMENTS FULL STOP, PERIOD, FINITO, THE END!
If you think those are sexist comments no wonder you get offended so easily and and so frequantly, because you obviously have no idea what real discrimination is. Believe me I do! I've experienced it enough times, so sit back chilax and stop being such a brat!
@ Richard Farnham, posts such as yours are complete and utter irrelevant drivel.
@ Michael UK: excuse me, but I never mentioned the word class. I never mentioned any specific performance/singer/song. I just don´get why a sexist comment suddenly became a matter of "this song has more class than that".
So, Owen had in mind Hadisse, I could not care less, cos I´ll repeat once agagin: I´m not interested in his musical taste. It has never been about musical taste. If anyone finds any post of mine where I criticize another person´s musical preferences, then please show me.
I guess my point of view is very clear.
@ mi reina
yes there are plenty of male bimbos in eurovision too !
but you missed owens point completely. jade has class , and so do the icelandic and french entries. these songs rely on the power of the songs and the performances , rather than wearing next to nothing and cavorting on stage. thats not to say these other songs arent fun to, and in fact i love the turkish entry , im sure it will do well. they are just different styles of performance. it isnt sexist to point out the obvious
i hope for 12 points from Turkey to UK but you know it's not possible
maybe 10 ? why not ?
Richard,
Thank you very much for backing me up on this one.
Mi Riena
Having views on a song, and a performance and having views on a PERSON and they beliefs and views are two very different things! I don't like Turkey because a) its a carbon copy of many other entries, and b) because she is relying on the fact that her physical attributes will help her out, she MUST be or she wouldn't be dancing like that, the song doesn't lend itself to provocative dancing, not really, if she was Lady Gaga I would understand, she isn't and the song is not exactly about sexual liberation, so why is she dancing like this? To get male and lesbian votes. c) she is relying on the performance where she shows off these attributes to get points. These are all comments about the SONG and PERFORMANCE, not the PERSON, I'm sure she is a lovely person that respects herself very much, but that is not really coming through on the performance.
Now if there was a man that did that sort of thing, like Dima did last year, then of course I would be saying the same thing!
Don't make snap judgements about PEOPLE, by all means make judgements about thier song and performing style, thats irrelevant to the person! and its what I am doing, YOU are making snap judgements about PEOPLE (ie ME)
On your other point, IF someone had made racist comments about Jade (though I haven't seen any) then of course that is wrong and they should be deleted HOWEVER, considering what your definition of sexism is, you're definition of racism is probably equally as broad. If someone said that Jade being mixed race would be a disadvantage in Eurovision, then that isn't racist, they aren't saying Jade shouldn't be chosen, what they are alluding to is the fact that racism exists in Eurovision, which it blatantly does (an act with a black representative has not got over 22nd in the final for the last 7 or 6 years! and there are people (it has to be said usually OUTSIDE a multi cultural society such as the UK or France's) that would still say that a black person shouldn't represent a country because they aren't really from that country, which is of course complete b*ll*cks! but people pointing out that there are people like that that have a say in Eurovision and people like that that have that view on this very site is NOT racism, what they are talking about is. If this sounds patronising I appologise its just I've seen a lot of people on this site say that comments like the above are racist, and its simply NOT.
Anyway back to my point, don't just judge what my views about women are from a few innocent comments that I made. You may not agree with them, you may not think that its a bad thing that women at ESC feel the need (and despite there being a few men that do it, it is much more common in female performances than it is in men's performances in Eurovision) to dance around half naked to get votes, but that doesn't mean I'M sexist!
Mi Reina - i must have missed all those comments you refer to, but then again, i don't read every single thread as many posts (such as yours) are complete and utter irrelevant drivel. Yes i do need to get a life - one that doesn't have you in it. And you need to be less aggressive and angry it seems.
"your comments are out of order and i'm surprised they have not been deleted. "
hello, Richard Farnham. Where were you when someone in here called the singer from Montenegro "a Big 4 ass-licker"? Where were you when people attacked the singer from Azerbaijan calling her prostitute and the like? Where were you when some people from the UK made racist comments about Jade?? If you wanna see comments deleted, go after the people I mentioned above, because they´re the ones who really do not but waste one´s time. Meanwhile, get a life!
"You know what? you know nothing about me, if you knew who I was and how I was brought up you would know i'm anything BUT a sexist."
very much true. I know nothing about. I know nothing about 99% of the people who post here. Ain´t keen of doing any further research either. What got me ticked was your sexist comment. That´s how I see it, no matter how much you deny. Let´s call it a matter of perception.
"You can pick away at every comment I make, and say that its sexist..."
No, I won´t do it. Because you don´t actually make aggressive comments or whatever offensive ones. I just insist it that particular one that.... blabla bla...
"You have made a snap decision about me and my views... I'm sure your a lovely person deep down, and your probably just a person that has got it sooooo terribly wrong"
Owen williams, that´s exactly what I was thinking about you. You´re definitely a psych!
Mi Reina - your comments are out of order and i'm surprised they have not been deleted. Well done Owen for putting him/her right (i'll probably be accused of being sexist now). It never ceases to amaze me how inoffensive posts can lead to huge slanging matches, what a complete waste of time. Anyway, as Vladimir P says, good luck to everyone.......and especially Jade. A good showing will hopefully mean the Beeb keeping the 'Your Country Needs You' format for the next couple of years and maybe Mr Barlow will be the writer of our entry next year. But let's get this year over first. Good luck to everyone indeed.
Mi riena
I like Jade and Patricia and Lidia and the Icelandic song, thats just how it is! I dont like the Romanian song, the Turkish song, and the Azeri Song, THATS JUST HOW IT IS
You know what? you know nothing about me, if you knew who I was and how I was brought up you would know i'm anything BUT a sexist.
You can pick away at every comment I make, and say that its sexist, I could probably pick away at 80% of the things said on here and find a discriminatory angle if I tried hard enough.
You have made a snap decision about me and my views, how is that any better than a sexist making a snap decision about women!? THINK about it, you don't know the first thing about me, and I dont know the first thing about you, I don't make personal comments about you BECAUSE of that, despite you being incredably offensive towards me I dont make a judgement! I'm sure your a lovely person deep down, and your probably just a person that has got it sooooo terribly wrong
@ aysenur aydin
yes it and am hoping not 2 win
this is really bad song.i hate it..
sorry jade ewen .
"How can I be sexist if I like Jade and Patricia and the Icelandic entry and the Polish entry? "
So not? As far as I understand, the only thing these women have in common is the size of their performing dresses.
"I even liked Helena Paparizou, Ruslana, Sertab, Ani AND I actually liked Molitiva, even though I didn't think it was very original."
You make it looks like you did them a favor. You´re kind of mixed up mentioning singers names and Molitiva, unless it has also become the singer herself. Only you can see any logic in this kind of statement.
"So what if I dont like the Turkish, Romanian ect. entries."
I don´t give a damn about you liking of these entries or not. Keep the focus, please.
"Its nothing to do with their sex, there are men that are just as up themselves, Dima Bilan for example, its just that actually men make up a much lower proportion of the singers in ESC these days."
Oh, so that´s your explanation?? Yeah, Bilan did show his butt, testicles and whatever was available, but that´s really not count as a "bimbo showing his tits and bits, all ego pumped", mostly because bimbo is a word used for women, I can only guess.
"I don't think its sexist to think women should respect themselves a bit more, I've got nothing against women dancing around the stage in a skimpy dress, if they want to do it then they want to do it, what I DO object to is them thinking that will get them votes (sadly in a few cases it will).."
Are you a psych? Do you read minds?
"... it just seems a shame to me that they can't rely on their voice and have to show off their legs to get anything?"
Yeah, Javine and Gemini all over again.
"The same goes for men on ESC of course Dima and Sakis are serial shirt rippers, but the NUMBER of women that do it in ESC is far greater than the number of men!"
Yeah, after your previous scathing remarks now you say the same goes for men. I guess in your country female singers wear burka, or maybe that´s what you´d like to see them wearing. So there would be plenty of space for the kind of men you mentioned to show their skin.
"...last year almost EVERY up tempo female singer did it!"
And you even liked some of them! You need help.
chiara proved u ALL wrong.
How can I be sexist if I like Jade and Patricia and the Icelandic entry and the Polish entry? I even liked Helena Paparizou, Ruslana, Sertab, Ani AND I actually liked Molitiva, even though I didn't think it was very original.
So what if I dont like the Turkish, Romanian ect. entries. And for the record I have actually said I liked Moldova. Its nothing to do with their sex, there are men that are just as up themselves, Dima Bilan for example, its just that actually men make up a much lower proportion of the singers in ESC these days.
Disagree with what I'm saying, by all means, I never expect EVERYONE to agree with what I'm saying, but PLEASE don't call me a sexist! I don't think its sexist to think women should respect themselves a bit more, I've got nothing against women dancing around the stage in a skimpy dress, if they want to do it then they want to do it, what I DO object to is them thinking that will get them votes (sadly in a few cases it will), it just seems a shame to me that they can't rely on their voice and have to show off their legs to get anything? Is this how far equal rights for women have come. The same goes for men on ESC of course Dima and Sakis are serial shirt rippers, but the NUMBER of women that do it in ESC is far greater than the number of men! for example, last year almost EVERY up tempo female singer did it!
And Mina
You can have class without sending a ballad, Helena Paparizou and Sertab had class, what i'm saying is that none of the entries thus far that are up beat HAVE class, and only a few of the ones that are ballads do!
@Norwegian Boy
Are you trying to make people hate you? Do you realise how offensive you are? You HAVE to respect everyone, even if you dislike the song and the singer, since that singer is a person who is making an effort and it is representing a certain country. By offending her, you offend all people not only her country but all people who think it is possible to express your opinion without being offensive. That includes me.
Good luck, Jade!
Good luck, Alexander!
Good luck everyone!
and I for one would much rather have my country represented by a classy act, even if its a little dated, than have some bimbo jumping round the stage thinking she is god's gift, when infact in the greater scheme of things she actually has rather AVERAGE talent, a mediocre voice and an over pumped ego, convinced that she and she alone is going to bring pride to an entire nation!
Sexist Owen Willams has spoken his mind.Oh, I guess he was meaning those pseudo lesbians from TATU and Javine as the perfect examples of "ego pumped bimbos". Pity he can´t find any male example as well.
@Neil,
I agree my friend.... NO votes here for Norway....
@ norwegian boy
norway's song is a brilliant song, but there is no need to use such comments on other countries' songs.
very immature of u, and to describe the uk song as cheap singer plus cheap composer shows that u have no idea what ur talking about.
