2nd jury declares

OGAE UK: 12 more points to Norway

Another national branch of the OGAE fan club network has released the results of their voting on the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest entries. Norway has received the British 12 points, whilst Greece and Sweden complete the podium, being awarded with 10 and 8 points respectively.

This is the OGAE UK's top 10:

  • 12 Norway (193 votes)
  • XX United Kingdom (190 votes)
  • 10 Greece (179 votes)
  • 8 Sweden (177 votes)
  • 7 Spain (151 votes)
  • 6 Finland (146 votes)
  • 5 Montenegro (120 votes)
  • 4 Iceland (113 votes)
  • 3 Azerbaijan (103 votes)
  • 2 Turkey (101 votes)
  • 1 Switzerland (89 votes)

Just missing out:

  • Malta (88 votes)
  • France (79 votes)
  • Albania (73 votes)

Norway tops once again a OGAE jury voting, getting another 12 points that broaden the difference with the second placed act. The British entry closely follows Norway, just 3 votes behind, but since OGAE national branches can't give points to the entries of their own country, Jade Ewen can't score any points this time. Therefore, it's Greece, the third favourite of the British fans, who gets 10 points, 2 votes ahead of Sweden, the country getting 8 points. Spain is clear 4th, with 151 votes, 5 ahead of Finland, country scoring its first 6 points. Right behind, Montenegro and Iceland also forsake the condition of 'nil-pointer' with their first 5 and 4 points, respectively. There was a tight battle for the lower places of the British top-10, with Azerbaijan just 2 votes ahead of neighbouring Turkey. Switzerland, closing the list with 89 votes, is just 1 ahead of Malta, thus preventing the Mediterranean nation from scoring their first point.

After two OGAE national jury votings, the scoreboard looks like:

  1. Norway, 24 points
  2. Greece, 17 points
  3. Spain, 13 points
  4. Turkey, 12 points
  5. Sweden, 11 points
  6. France, 8 points
  7. Finland, 6 points
  8. Romania, 5 points
    Montenegro, 5 points
  9. Lithuania, 4 points
    Iceland, 4 points
  10. Azerbaijan, 3 points
  11. Russia, 2 points
  12. Croatia, 1 point
    Switzerland, 1 point

OMG!!!!! This is my take on Norway's song:
You find the word ... FAIR (= average) within the word "Fairytale", which is why he may not appeal as much to the 100,000,000+ viewers watching the ESC... especially if he has not corrected his SCREAMING vocals in the chorus + SCREECHING fiddle. The song is OK but not when sung by him, even if he wrote it.

Let's ... just wait and see.

Just a small comment to all of those predicting Alexander's flop just because Charlotte flopped from "favoritehood" last year: He's not just OGAE fans' favourite, he's just about everyone else's, too. All bookmakers give him the lowest odds by far; escstats.com (which offers a much more reliable poll than esctoday.com as it can't be manipulated by national fans) not only puts Alexander on top, but in a class of his own. Plus don't forget how he won the Norwegian final by an uprecedented landslide. I'm not saying that Alexander's going to win for sure, but the logic of writing him off on account of Charlotte's or Paolo's misery last year, is really quite lame - to say the least.

Norway may do well this year but I think that Bosnia & Herzegovina has a great chance too.

Where was that in the UK OGAE voting? Nowhere.....

And Claudio Silva - don't worry - I like the Portugese entry and think it will make the final.

I doubt that the UK televotes/jury would resemble anything like the OGAE voting. Don't forget these are ESC fans who do not generally reflect UK taste

JADE has been added to the Radio 2 playlist.... that is sometime ahead of the official release.

This should see it gradually gain more airplay in the UK leading up to the contest. If it makes it on to the A list in the next few weeks then Jade should have a high chart entry before the contest.

why u keep on mentioning angel? 4get angel for just 3 minutes, and we are left with a great strong ballad plus a brilliant perfomance. every year is different. problem with malta and some other countries is that they need a super fantastic song to have a chance to reach the finals and maybe a top 10. while many other countries can reach the finals with practiacally anything!!

@ Claudio Silva :)

so why is everybody screaming Norway???

Probably because Alexander is SCREAMING instead of singing ... :D :D :D :D :D

Sorry, but it hurts my ears when I "listen" to it.

General comment:

OGAE members - 1000 people EACH voting for THEIR favourite songs
does NOT amount to those of 100,000,000 people.-

Polls only show a mere tendency - So, don't anybody tell me that the voting on this site CANNOT be "manipulated" -- because it CAN be done -- ex. if one ticks "hate it" INSTEAD of "love it" or "it's OK" , then you have THAT list reflected ;) every Monday!!!!!!!!!

Betting odds (require money) - NOT infallible
REMINDER: Against ALL odds, in 2006, the punters Europe-wide ... MONSTROUSLY (6) flopped with their "prediction" of the winner ... because... the LEAST favourite song ... that consecutively at-the-BOTTOM-of-the-list OUTSIDER song representing Finland, won ESC by default, made only a few people cash in BIGTIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tricky, huh??????

... NOR is there any real WAY to predict...!!!

Crystal ball - I don't know about yours, but mine broke!!!! :D :D :D

(even though I still have a gut feeling that Azerbaijan's Always
will be the song that ... EVERYONE will need to beat!!!! ;)

EXCEPTIONS TO ABOVE "GUIDELINES" ARE WHEN
.... Betting odds -AND- polls were spot on
for the following truly GREAT winning songs:

2003 - Every way that I can :) - Sertab Erener
2005 - My Number One :) - Helena Paparizou
2007 - Molitva :) - Marija
2008 - Believe :) - Dima Bilan

Each of those LIVE! performances were OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Special comment:

Thank you, United Kingdom :), for supporting This is our night! Good luck to Jade in the Final!

GO (L) S A K I S (L)!!!!

The OGAE points are points from esc fans and they all vote very similar, so i dont think that the public and jurys wil vote like this.

But the OGAE clubs do sometimes vote the same like the public, like in 2007 when Serbia won the esc.

And to say that Alexander wil do badly just because of last year, when Charlotte P did get many points and won the OGAE club list, is just easy thinking, and maybe many hope that Alexander wil fail just because he is a favorite.

Yes Charlotte P won last year OGAE club list, and she got only the 18th place in the final, but what is the same about Alexander's Fairytale and Charlotte's Hero???

We dont know any winner yet, but to write off Alexander and Norway only becaue of the history of OGAE votes are in my mind just to easy thinking.

Im Norwegian and i hope of course that Norway wil win, but i dont belive in a victory before i see it.
I belive another country than Norway wil win, but i dont think Alexander wil get as bad place as 18th place only because he is a favorite.

And finaly i wish you all a happy easter :)

Norway 12pts
Ok - I can live with that.

If Alexander Rybank can pull off a good performance on the night (and at the 2nd dress rehearsal) - then I can see him winning this year.

Still, maybe being the red hot favourite is setting him up for a fall?

8pts to Sweden?

Why? Who voted for that? I doubt the UK televoting public will agree with that.

Malta

As far as I know, Malta gained independence from Britain in the 1960's - well over 40 years ago. What is more it has been self-governing since the end of World War 2 or something.....

However, it is still a member of the Commonwealth - as are most countries that gained independence from Britain. That says alot don't you think? Even though they took independence, they still WANTED to be a part of the Commonwealth of Nations.

I prefer Sweden then Norway =)

But then again its only the eurovision diehards who give there points on those sites =) So the people who vote can vote total differently...

all depends on the performance on that day =)

@ Moreno

I agree about the studio version, I actually don't like it. But I love the live performance. And he was sick, i read he puked all night after the NFs. And I could hear that his voice was very weak when he sang in the NFs. He has a good voice indeed :) But feel free to doubt ;)

Moreno Carlsson [46585]
Fri 10 Apr 2009 17:49:40

But his vocals on the studio version are bad too
don't think he was sick too :P
