The song
Lose control is an up-tempo Eurodance song in the style of the 1990s with rap parts in the verses. The lyrics are about someone losing everything (and even control) despite defending against it:
I don't wanna live a lie
Is this my reality?
It's spinning round and round
Day and night
I don't wanna lose control
But I'm falling
I just can't believe it
Never thought that I would be the one
Falling down
The band
Waldo's people center around the main vocalists Karoliina Kallio and Marko "Waldo" Reijonen. The latter had already had some success as a solo performer in the early 1990s, when they founded Waldo's People in 1998 with Sami Lehto (drums), Karl Sinkkonen (keyboards) and Kimmo Nissinen (guitar). Their first single was U drive me crazy and it would be a number three hit in Finland and its video was the first Finnish video included in MTV Nordic's daily video rotation. Their debut album Waldo's People was almost equally successful reaching number six in the charts.
In 2000, the band's second album was released and it reached the same position in the charts and produced the number four hit single 1000 ways. Having taken a rather long break, Waldo's People returned to recording in 2008 with their greatest hits compilation Back again, which peaked at number 27 in the charts. The eponymous song included on the CD was released as a single in May and became the band's first number one hit in Finland.
The band entered the Finnish national selection for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest and could win it with the song Lose control and could win it. Having been in the top ten for three months already, it finally reached the top of the Finnish single charts two weeks ago. The third studio album of the band, which was released in February and includes the song, has currently reached number 13.
The national selection
The Finnish broadcaster repeated the Euroviisut formula of 2008. Four semi finals were held with four songs each and two songs of each heat qualified for the grand final. A second chance round with all non-qualifiers was held right before the final and eventually, ten songs competed for the ticket to Moscow. Waldo's People were the winners with 45.1% of the votes in the superfinal, where the top three competed.
Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest
Finland entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 and has been a frequent competitior since despite never finishing in the top five for a very long time. This suddenly changed in 2006, when Lordi won the contest for Finland in Athens. The last two participations ended outside the top ten again, but still the country has not been missing a final since 2006.
Toivotamme Suomelle ja Waldo's Peoplelle onnea ja menestystä Moskovassa!

A mediocre eurotrash, nothing more. Finland will get votes from Nordic countries, but thats about it. And I dont think they get votes from Estonia any more, because of political reasons.
Reminds me of late-80s mixed with early-90s (2Unlimited, Dr Alban, Culture Beat mode).
I don't like those rap parts (definitely no difference between this one and Daz), they could be very boring to televoters, but chorus is ok.
Doesn't quite improved live both singing and performance were weak), so considering all of this, maybe they won't see a final after all.
But I see a massive support to this.
I don't wanna be a hater, but honestly this reminds me of a DJ Bobo scenario (rap-europop supported before ESC and failed in the contest).
This song means nothing special to me, it's not bad, but not my favorite.
12 points from Norway !!
Good luck !!
one of the best songs in this years contest...go finland...u deserve at least a top 5 finish
This song reminds me A LOT of Swedish 90's pop, but it's still catchy!
Best of luck to Finland in Moscow!
I love this song, it's in my top 5. Best wishes from Colombia!
love it!just like Euroband Waldo's People is takin me back to the 90's
i wanna hunt Waldo down, who's with me haha
@Benjamin: I always find that the beginning of Grace Jones' Pull Up To The Bumper reminds me of heavy traffic. I think it has some car honking and stuff. Otherwise there's always Voyage, voyage

7 points from me to finland !
Good luck to Waldos peoples and Lose control. And thank you to all who have supported Finland and Waldo.
Especially Mina " It`s been my # 1 ever since it was chosen " You are wonderful. Have a nice trip to Italy !
it should ALSO be noted that the male singer in waldo's people is hot! that's always a bonus
Waldo´s people will make everybody or at least many of us dance, rap, dance! Good luck to them.
finland is so cool! go finland
Dated.... and a terrible rap.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!
The best choice at this moment for 2nd part of presentation is Love is blue cause in that part we are describing future of traffic so this song could work very well.
Now I have to think just about song for 1st part. This part of presentation talks about trip from Croatia to Belgium and during this travel we are having some problems in traffic and we travel with car, train, bus, and finally airplane. It's a small part of presentation so it should be very affective at the beginning
I like the finnish entry this year! It's up tempo, catchy, very 90's and i like that! It's only fair to see this passing through to the final
The lead singer reminds me a little of Jay Kay (apperance-wise), and the name reminds me of a certian children's book charicter you have to look for.
Which has given me an idea. If anybody who is reading this is going to Moscow for any of the finals should dress up like Where's Wally, and we can see if we can spot you!
GOOD LUCK
FINLAND
BEST WISHES
Go Finland
I will vote for you
I´m confident the liveperformance of "lose control" will be much improved in Moscow. The finnish NF really can´t be compared to what the production of an Eurovision Song Contest show has to offer in most aspects. (Sound being one of them...) And since we don´t have the orchestra to worry about messing up the entry (wich did happen to a few entries with a moderna sound in the 90´s for example) I´m positive that Finland stands a great chance of qualifying to teh final. Oh...the song is quite good too and the rap-part is not as annoying as in other past and present ESC-entries.
HYVÄ SUOMI!
BENJAMIN
A good choice woulb be love is blue by paul mariat: instramental version of esc luxemburg 1967 by vicky leandros (4th place) number one in USA in 1968, theres no lyrics version is beautiful.
@Benjamin

Or Ireland's 1990 entry "Somewhere in Europe"
B E N J A M I N
If you aske me, I will put Eimar Quinn "The voice" or Secret Garden "Nocturne" on that presentation, because those are pleasent songs to listen, maybe they are not about travelling, but are very nice!
