MiOdio attend OGAE Italy meeting

A great surprise awaited the members of OGAE Italy, when during a meeting organised by former president Matteo Aldrovand, they were unexpectedly joined by four out of the five members of MiOdio, the Sammarinese band who represented the microstate in its first participation in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest.

Nicola Della Valle, Francesco Sancisi, Polly and Paolo Macina turned up at the OGAE Italy meeting in March, unexpected by almost everyone, but to everyone's delight. Alessandro Gobbi, the drummer, could not be present due to a previously scheduled appointment.

MiOdio took part in the SanremoFestival.59 web contest, where they made the top ten, thus acheiving the right to get on stage during the 2009 Sanremo Festival. Their song Evoluzione genetica will be featured in the compilation Sanremo 59 web, which was released on April 10th and will contain 21 songs by 21 out of 90 participants in the contest.

OGAE Italy fans gave MiOdio a warm welcome and were eager to ask them about their Eurovision and Sanremo experiences as well as their career and projects. MiOdio were happy to satisfy the fans' curiosity and they started a long, nice and interesting conversation in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

In the end, president Cristina Giuntini, on behalf of the whole club, presented MiOdio with the OGAE Italy Europrize, as a thank you from OGAE Italy to the first Sammarinese participants ever, and a good luck wish for their future career.

MiOdio are currently planning a summer tour around Italy, and their debut album will be released shortly so stay tuned.

A report by Cristina Giuntini.

lets hope that ITALY and SAN MARINO both return to the contest

I couldn't agree more. :D Throw Luxembourg in there too for good measure.

I would like to see them all again, as well as Monaco... and Liechtenstein! I certainly hope their TV station will someday become an EBU member and will consider entering.

I spoke to the lead singer's perants , just before the final in belgrade . and they also admit that ,the italian public in general don't take the contest to heart ,as do the rest of europe.I still think that it's all so do with pride for the italians ,as that they send a half decent song and then something silly ,does better, thats only my opion . lets hope that ITALY and SAN MARINO both return to the contest ,

it was a great song that didn't deserve to be last last year (it should at least came 15th if not qualify :) (way better than Ireland/Andorra/Belgium and Estonia)

One of the best songs last year. A pity and their last place :(

Well, I found the song very dull. It has grown on me over time, but it's a slow grower and it's still dull. I do hope either them or Italy returns though.

Marvelous song, classic. It is a shame they did not make it and we got stupid Latvia (the pirate song) instead. What poor taste people have!

I had only one reservation though: I thought their dancer - although very beautiful and professional - was a little too old for the lead singer; and it did look quite bizzare in fact. A younger dancer would have been better for them.

All in all, wonderful song.

Poor Italian eurofans. When Italy returns to the ESC (because I am sure that soon or later Italy will be in again), RAI should give an homage to them.

you lost internet in the song

I know. It was very annoying. I got the Page Load Error every time I heard it. Internet could not be found. Please check the name and try again. I lost interest very quickly indeed.

San Marino was great, however I can totally see why they came last, you lost internet in the song and performance quite quickly, and you couldn't remember it. Maybe if it was still a music festival it would have done better, but it's a do-anything-you-can-to-get-a-vote contest.

They're very great persons! Thank you very much, MiOdio!

While I found Complice to be a rather dull entry, nicely performed and easily forgotten... I must say, Miodio has done much better work after Eurovision... Good luck to them!

They came last in their semi final. That song was more suited to San Remo then Eurovision.
