The song
Love is a ballad in an R&B style to be performed in English, but it has not been decided yet if the final Eurovision version will also contain lyrics in Lithuanian and/or Russian. The Lithuanian version is called Pasiklydęs žmogus, which means Lost man and the Russian version is called Одинокий герой, which means Lonely Hero. The English lyrics are about the desperate devotion to love which is in vain after all:
A little girl is crying alone
A little boy searching for his home
Giving up to a sin
For a heart-craving dream
Is that a sin?
If you really love
The love you say you love (really love)
Then surely that love would love...
Then surely that love would love to love you back
The singer
Dmitry Šavrov was a child star in Lithuania and he released his first album at the age of only twelve. One of his best known songs of that time Mamai, which was co-written by Ovidijus Vyšniauskas, Lithuania's Eurovision Song Contest debut entrant in 1994, has become a classic and earned him a Bravo award as best newcomer. Later, he would move to London and study music for eight years before returning to his home country.
Back in Lithuania, he released the single Ne uletaj with SEL and it became a masive radio hit peaking at number one in the Baltic airplay charts. In 2007, he entered the Lithuanian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest as a part of the project U-Soul with the song At your door. They took part in the second quarter final, which was held for semi-established performers, and they finished second making them qualify for the first semi final, where they finished seventh. The same year, he came third in the talent search Muzikos akademija. In 2008, Sasha Son entered the selection again, this time as a soloist. With Miss kiss, he won the second semi final but finished third in the final behind Jeronimas Milias and Aiste Pilvelyte.
In 2009, he took part in the new Lithuanian Eurovision Song Contest selection format Dainu Daina. He qualified for the final, which he could win this time with the Lithuanian version of Love. The song was not only a success in the contest as it also rached the number one in the Lithuanian single charts.
The national selection
A new selection format was introduced in Lithuania. Although the format with three quarter finals, two semi finals and a grand final was very similar to the selection in 2007, the qualifiers were now chosen by regional televoting. Eventually, ten acts took part in the final, which was won by Sasha Son. He had already won the quarter final and the semi final he had taken part in.
Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest
Lithuania took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1994 and finished last with nil points on its debut. It would take until 1999 that the country returned to the competition and again with no great success. The only top ten placing to date came in 2006 when LT United finished sixth in the final.
Mes linkime Lietuvai ir Sasha Son sekmės ir gero rezultato Maskvoje!

2009 could be a year of ballads - UK, Malta, Portugal, Poland, Slovakia or just Lithuania, which was awarded 12pt by the international OGAE jury!
In my predictions Lithuania gets 7 points:

I liked a lot both "At Your Door" and "Miss Kiss" and was very happy seeing Sasha Son finally represents Lithuania.
This song was far the best in Lithuania, and It is in my top3 this year so far.
Very well sung, influenced with modern sound, R&B, which Sasha likes a lot, it can be seen.
I hope he will present his voice the best way he can, but not with all those variations and wavings
The hat thing could be disccussed as well as stupid trowsers on the Dainu Daina, but anyway - I'd like to see this in the final.
English lyrics are a bit confused and repetitive love-ish, but anyway I support this - good song, good singer, good effort and I'll probably send my sms to this.
Sasha Son "Love" bilingual version: http://www.youtube.c(...)&feature=related (performed after his victory in "Dainų daina". Enjoy.

Sasha is the best and that's it! If music counts in the ESC, he must get a good position. If not, i hope our country to withdraw.

Aaaaah, Lithuania's been the most pleasant surprise for me this year. I honestly didn't expect such a good entry. Love it!
Best of luck, Sasha
Love is gonna blow your mind, you like it or not
good luck Lithuania
good luck Sasha Son
you're totally the best at 2009! probably new winner of the contest please sing in lithuanian!!!!!!!
the lithuanian version is much better and emotional then english!
Oh pleasant surprise here! I always like the 'less is more' principle, I think Ive just added this one to my personal favourites (along with France, Portugal, Estonia, Germany and Norway).
One hint though: please make someone tell him the word 'love' is not supposed to rhyme with 'have'. Just a small note because otherwise his accent is perfect, its just that one sound that kind of spoils it... that said. After Dima Bilans and Ruslana's, erm, innovation of the English language who am I to complain about Sasha..
In all.. Great kid, cool music. And I say yay to the hat.
Go Lithuania!
that song is not bad at all ! Good luck Lithuania !! Kali epitichia Lithouania
Don't like him (not because he is Russian, i like Russian people) and don't like song (its toooo boring).
This is simply the best song this year by far. The melody - the lyrics - the voice are all just perfect. Go Lithuania!
