The song

| There must be another Must be another way דרך ארוכה נעבור // We will follow a long דרך כה קשה // A really hard way יחד אל האור // Together into the light عينيك بتقول // Your eyes tell that كل الخوف يزول // All fears will disappear |
The singers
Noa, whose real name is Achinoam Nini, was born in Tel Aviv to parents with Yemeni roots but she grew up in the United States before moving back to Israel at the age of 17. She later attended a music school, where she met Gil Dor with whom she has been working since. Over the years, she has develop to become one of the most successful live and recording artists of Israel having performed at famous venues all over the world. She is also very well known for her work on film soundtracks as she has worked on the music for pictures such as Goldeneye, Joan of Arc and Life is beautiful. She also sang the part of Esmeralda in the French version of the Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame and its album sold to triple platinum.
Mira Awad was born in Rameh to a Bulgarian mother and an Arab father. Like Noa, she graduated from the Rimon music school in Ramat HaSharon. Currently, she is famous not only as a singer, but also as an actress in films, TV series and stage productions. Among others, she starred in the sitcom Arab Labor and in the 2006 Eytan Fox film The bubble. In 2004, she took part in the Israeli national final for the Eurovision Song Contest but finished 14th and hence last with Znam. At the moment, she is working on her debut album.
Noa & Mira awad joined forces for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, but it is not the first time they worked together. Previously, Mira Awad had already appeared on Noa's 2002 album Now covering the Beatles' classic We can work it out. They were chosen internally to represent Israel in Moscow and they also wrote all four entries in the national song selection along with Gil Dor.
The national selection
Israel followed the idea of last year's national selection with an internal performer selection and a public song selection. Noa & Mira Awad performed four songs in the national final and the winning song was chosen by juries and televoting. While Do you wanna dance with me was the favourite with the televoters, There must be another way won the overall selection.
Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest
Israel joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973 and had a successful debut finishing fourth. The country did not have to wait very long for its first victory either, as that came in 1978. A second victory followed the year after on homeground and another time in 1998. Despite some low placings in the 2000s, Israel well in 2005 and 2008 finishing fourth and ninth respectively.
אנחנו מאחלים לישראל, לאחינועם ניני ולמירה עוואד בהצלחה רבה ותוצאה טובה במוסקבה

This entry not just that has a typical Israeli Eurovisional elements and let'smakeapeace message, but is boring if You ask me.
Many times this song started on my player and equal times I stopped it before it ended.
GO ISRAEL !!!!
" Tomorrow, we will take a look at the Slovak entry. "
Its already tomorrow. Have you fallen asleep.
great entry , love it
@Lina
I agree with you
@Meral , yes is better to dont discuss that issue
and i want u to know that i will be very happy if turkish cypriot to represent Cyprus in ESC , bad days for all Cypriots belong to the past and we have to look our countrey future without hating , since 2003 when turkish and greeks can visit each other nothing bad happen beacuse the people get tired from that "games" who actual is coming from some countreys who dont want to see turkish and greeks cypriots together , and we have to fight them in unit
And i hope one day we dont call our selfs turkish or greeks cypriots but only Cypriots
Peace in Cyprus, Peace in Israel, Peace in Palestine , Peace around the world !!! Good luck Israel ! kisses
I love this song very much !!! Good Luck Israel, I hope to see them back in the final !! So I can vote for this great song !!!
@Lina
I'm not wondering
i know its not a possibility
its not a possiblity due to many complex reasons it has nothing to do with turkish-cypriots not particpating in the cypriot esc selections.
anyway this is a story for another day lets not go there
So if u know many things about Cyprus why u wondering why never Cyprus send turkish cypriot to the contest? Are u turkish cypriot?
Not my type of song at all, usually i like israeli songs but not this one
but good luck anyway
@Lina
I know more than you think i do about Cyprus and some of its realities
" For example, i have never seen a turkish-cypriot representing cyprus in the esc which is a great shame! " @Meral Myers is better to ask one turkish cypriot that question
Every year CyBC says " all Cypriots can send a song for National final " but turkish cypriots composers never send a song to CyBC beacuse of politic reasons ( they dont want to show to the people abroad that Represent Repuplic od Cyprus beacuse Turkey dont allow that ) , so is better to dont speak about something that u dont know and make rong reactions, if u dont know just ask
I m from Cyprus i live here and i know very whell the situation
also @ Botox baby can u stop to react like that and make problems all the times? !! i m get agree when i see u to react like that ! Here is site about music and everybody here must to respect all the countreys all singers all songs and the others opinions ( if they said that opinions polite ) ! Anyway back to the topic ... i love Israel song and the message of that song but i like better the lyrics in Hebrew and Arabs , i dont like the english part
this is my opinion
Good luck Israel !!!
ISRAEL!!!!!
The best song this year!!
@Botox Baby
I am NOT attacking you
your the trouble-maker nobody else
you write comments which are very offensive towards people.
@Botox Baby
You don't have a clue about israel!
@Botox Baby
You just can't help yourself can you
first offending turkish people yesterday by refering to them as barbaric and today talking about israeli politics.
Grow Up
I just love Israel song , 10 points from Lithuania
Meral Myers I agree with you completely on that one.
Adir
I am not the one who started this discussion or who called anyone an idiot (nor are you of course) or that offended a whole nation (Israel's neighbors). I also don't think that international law is just small facts and although I would agree with you that this is not a politics website, once an opinion is given, an answer is pretty much expectable.
Back on the song itself I do like it although I don't see it passing on the finals unfortunately. It would be a pleasant surprise if it did though.
I think more countries should take a leaf out of Israel's book and express their countries in the same way they are doing in this year's eurovision. For example, i have never seen a turkish-cypriot representing cyprus in the esc which is a great shame!
the Israeli entry is beautiful and is a message about world peace and harmony!
@Jiorjios Evan
I won't comment cause I understand you are really don't know a thing..only small facts and nothing more! Esc is not politics website, you have to respect this place! (And I'm not gonna show you terrible things from the other side that will make you feel shy of what you said now)!
Bye!
fantastic entry
good luck Israel
Eurofriends
So the fact that Israel has occupied part of each and every one of its neighboors since its foundation in 1948, continues to be in violation of international law in East Jerusalem Gaza, the West Bank, the Golan Heights and the Saba farms (all considered occupied territories by international law) , practices collective punishment (a war crime) on the people of Gaza through the blockade, practises an apartheid system in the West Bank where people have different rights depending on whether they are Arabs or settlers, detains thousands of people (including around 400 children) at will, constructs a Berlin wall-type of structure not on its internationally recognised borders but further east cutting off people from their livelihoods can all be blamed on Israel's neighbors? Gee thank god u occupy those people all those years and u orotect the rest of us from them... maybe the rest of the world should start paying Israel for that great service (NOT)
@Eurofriends.
You are actually right, watching break news for 1 minute, and judge a country, it is not enough and it is not right! I wish all will understand that the conflict is so complicated!
Maybe not the best entry, but it's nice, sypathetic and doesn't pretend to be something it's not... they score points for that with me
Botox Baby - think again please...maybe the other side makes the war...always always blaming Israel!!!! I wish that the Arab countries and Palestinians had peace lovers like Noa and Mira!
A great song, wonderful lyrics, powerful singers and the performance will be powerful as well! Noa and Mira, I wish you the best of luck!!!
