Dita von Teese, who will join Germany's performers on stage in Moscow. - © http://www.dita.net/

Miss Kiss Kiss Bang named

Burlesque star in German line-up

Alex Christensen had promised it, and now it seems to be true: the German line-up for Moscow will include an internationally reknowned star of the burlesque world in the role of Miss Kiss Kiss Bang.

In what German tabloid Bild have already described as the Sensation of Eurovision 2009, American burlesque star Dita von Teese will be strutting her stuff alongside Alex and Oscar as part of this year's German entry. And according to Bild, the show will include a lot of bare flesh! Hopes are high in the German camp, with Dita optimistic: "I hope that this collaboration will help us both to victory".

However, not all are pleased about the current turn of events, it seems. Bild quotes one-time German Eurovision legend Ralph Siegel (who returns to the contest this year, but not for his native Germany) as saying "The path from Ein bißchen Frieden to this little strip-tease was a long path downwards." But whichever side of the 'show versus music' debate fans take, one thing is certain: Germany is pulling out all the stops to get little Miss Kiss Kiss Bang noticed this year.

WAY TO GO GERMANY!!!
Best entry in a long time! And it keeps getting better! Great news! I hope you'll be top 10 this year!

@ Layla

OMG all you complainers are you upset cause she is classy or is it cause she is American or just anti-German. Prob all three

I'm not a fan of her myself but whenever i see her she is 100% classy. Now when i heard this song for the first time i loved it now hearing that Dita will be on the stage performing I'm really actually looking forward to it as her style of dance would totally suit the song.

Also looking at the past few years lets look what we have.
Ukraine- Ani Lorak skanky dress (But great song)
Greece- Kalomoira couldn't find her tune so she lost her clothes. Elena also showed off her body and like omfg totally won.
Czech Republic - Tereza even had the pro's blushing
Sweden - Lena made it all the way round the baseball diamond with her performance.
Moldova - everytime Natalie (with Arsenium) sang she had less clothes ending up in a gulp!!! Bikini

So get over it compared to previous entrants Dita will most prob be at least an M rating And hey didn't Marie N win by stripping everytime the chorus came on hehehehe

@ layla
As I already wrote, I find it super-silly to judge a performance before you've seen it.

Have fun with switching the program during the acts of Turkey, Romania, Slovenia (have you seen her boobs falling out of this dress?), Ukraine, Germany and probably even Montenegro and Spain - I don't know your limit but referring to previous comments you've made in this forum, you seem to be prudish...

@ layla

please stop talking in such stupid way..
since many years female singers make many points because they wear nearly nothing..
and male singes were accompanied by half-naked dancers..
and that was ok for every esc-fan..
and now germany does the same - sending a worldwide well known burlesque-star - and that is not ok ??
what is your problem ??
i think it is not dita von teese - your problem are the germans..
if that is very poor thinking, dear layla !!!

Welcome to the world of ESCtoday Sergej :D

hey guys. this is my first post on the esc today page so please be patient with me if i do something wrong:-)

in my opinion it is a very strategic step of germany. after years of bad ranking positions germany is sick of it. so now they put their priorities on the show. i think this will work because everyone is talking about it and on this way the song gets attention and is known by many people.

to all of you guys who criticize Dita and her so called "striptease show". it is a long time ago that the esc is just a song event. nowadays it is important to make a good show in three minutes which stays in the minds of the viewers until the voting beginns. just to mention Verka Serduchka or Lordi. they succeed and their songs werent really good. but they get atention because they were unique. and they are unforgettable. not like some ballad or chancon of france or other countries.

another point is that sex sells in our society. and many artists use it for their performance as you can see the last years 2nd and 3rd places ani lorak and kalomoira.

for the end a question to all the germans which dont like the songs of their country: why do you are so pessimistic? of course we didn't succseed in the last years. and we didn't had the best songs. but why to say all the time that the german entry is so bad? if we, the own residents of germany, say all the time that the song is trash how to convince the people abroad to vote for us? if you make something bad all the time it rubs of on other people and so we loose or last supporters in other countries.

have a nice evening

@ Layla

First of all it is my opinion and you don't have to critisize it because you don't agree with me. Nobody said your opinion is the standard opinion and anyone who disagrees with it is either a lesbian or a fool. I consider celebs like Beyonce, Paris or some bellydancers more pornish than Dita Von Teese. Yes, she does reveal much in her shows, but I consider it as a way of art. I hope all celebs who reveal much would be classy as her.She knows how to behave herself in public, dresses like a lady not like a tramp.

@Jordan Bell
Best dancers? There is not many women who CAN'T do what this ho does. All she does is put stickers on her titties and waltz around with feathers. Oh, and get surgery of course.
She is by far not the BEST dancer in any "genre" at all. Which head are you thinking with anyway? I think the men will like watching this stupid, pathetic act, but will it make them spend MONEY on voting for a song they normally don't like?
I guess the stupid ones will.

@Sabina - Gordon R. Ocks
Yes, you don't consider lesbian softcore porn "pornish", LOL! Whatever.

@Fan Since 1976
Yes,and do you think that's fair or right? Because I don't. It's cheap, it's low, it's awful. BTW, I hated Ani Lorak and her song. Same with most of those girls, but this is WORSE than just a short dress! It is actually a stripper who does nothing for a living except taking her clothes off and selling her body/looks + she has a porn history! STOP BRINGING PORNSTARS AND STRIPPERS INTO ESC! Stop before it's too late :S

@Cristina Giuntini
What's wrong is that once they start opening the doors for people like this, there will be more low-lives entering the following years. And it will be bad enough.

@Max Raspail
Burlesque is an overrated, glorified "artsy fartsy" form of stripping which is nothing better than prostitution. And she has a porn history... That makes her and the act too porn for my liking.

@Marcus Faber
I agree totally. This is a performance to be ashamed of guaranteed. Too bad because the song was good and it was one of my top favourites - just check my profile for my list. I was gonna vote for it especially because I thought it was undeservedly underrated and unnoticed, but now Germany has definitely lost my vote 100%. I guess that makes it easier for me - one less country to consider voting for. A really low attempt to score points. Completely disrespectful. My other friend who had it at #1 is also not going to vote for it now. I guess it lost the votes of those who liked it for the song, but gained the horny(/desperate) boys' votes who don't care for ESC, but only naked women.

@Malte Abapinavi
I agree with you too. First they get an American singer, now an American stripper... It's really sad.

@Richard M
Well, you're a guy so you obviously wouldn't care. It sure as hell won't be fun for me to watch. If I wanted this kind of entertainment, I'd go to a pornsite or something. I will quote Charlotte Perrelli now: "Fel forum/wrong forum" = LEAVE SH*T LIKE THIS OUT OF ESC! THIS IS A FAMILY SHOW! I wouldn't let MY kids (if I had any) watch women who's only known for this job and for hellmachine AKA strip-donut with a strip pole in the middle. It's bad enough with the Ani Loraks and Terezas.

If this is what people think they need to do to score points - then it is a scary development and not looking very bright in the future.

:@ I will definitely not comment on this anymore and I will swap the channel when Germany is performing. I don't want to see it at all :P

Now, here is a happy and funny song instead:

@Dave C - to gather the BEST dancers, songwriters etc etc to help an entry? ABSOLUTELY - this is a competition after all.
Go Germany 2009 :)

Ok... so what is this all about? I guess the new Eurovision era is to bring to the stage the most popular artist to acompany the real star which should be the participant and attract votes this way. I find it pathetic to be quite honest. I think Ralph Siegel is completely right in his statement.

@Owen Williams

The point is not being too American. Te point is that those countries are denying their own cultural heritage (unlike France for instance). In contemporary German pop music you can't find any approach that you could call genuinely German. And Russia is even a worse case because there's indeed much wonderful music that reflects the Russian soul with all shades and melancholic dimensions, which is unique and distinctive. Listen for example to Polina Smolova's last year's entry in Russian preselection, only getting 16th place. - Apparently Russia are going the same way as many other countries, disregarding their own cultural treasures.

But what annoys me most: In Germany, one of the hugest music markets worldwide, no one has the tiniest interest in promoting Paneuropean music (except some exceedingly successful artists). For sure you can imagine what German TV and radio channels are filled up with: No Finnish power folk (best popular music around, I think), no Balkan Pop, very few Fado. And in my opinion this year's German entry clearly indicates (as 2006 and 2007, nevertheless well-crafted music) a certain loss of identity, lack of creativity and very strategic thinking. (Believe me. I know exactly what I'm talking about.)

@ Sabina - totally. Dita harkens back to an age of Voctorian era burlesque a lil bit like 'Gypsy Rose Lee' lol.
She is wonderful and VERY well known worldwide - we know her well here in UK. Not pornish AT ALL. LOL at first I thought you'd written 'Polish'
@Hinz great move fur Deutschland. Hope you do well - probably Top 10. Go for it Germany. Love Berlin (there recently).

Anyway, people I'm really really glad for Germany, I love the song and Dita Von Teese will definitely spice things up.

Good luck Germany, you guys deserve a nice place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about you people,but I don't consider Dita Von Teese to be pornish and I'm not the kind of person who likes women to behave slutty. I prefer her over a bellydancer, at least she does it with grace.

song it is reperted to have copied thttp://www.esctoday.com/multimedia/showVid.php?id=kZVLKbgrimM

Back to Germany - hope the stage show 'gels' really well - now promises so much.

Great great news!!!
To those of you who wish us luck: Thank you so much! I know that germany hasn't sent very convincing entries in the last years, and we will need every vote we can get since we don't have a huge diaspora nor many friends across Europe. So thank you for your good wishes and your support!

To those who are complaining: It's your right not to like our song (I don't like it much myself either). But stop bashing it just because it's from germany. This year we are just trying what Eastern Europe and Scandinavia have been doing for years: to do a great show instead of a good song (of course the ideal ESC entry has both).
How do you think Greece managed to get 3rd place last year? Because of kalomira's naked skin, and nothing more. Nobody of you would have voted for her "voice" oer her song!!!

@Moshe: Sorry off topic but re Fairytale what do you mean 'officially' does this mean song will be disqualified?
Pls give full details and any links -thanks.
Anyone else have news on this development?

On topic (lol) good song from Germany and this diva will totally turn stage show around. Won't win but could get placed between 5 - 10 now. Sehr gut!!

@Layla
I don't know what's your problem. Greece, Armenia and Ukraine also got their good placings mainly for shaking their ass*s and t*ts (I had them in 22nd, 14th re. 19th place).
And you can bet that this year Turkey, Romania or Ukraine also will wear as less as possible. So why it isn't allowed for Germany? But on the other hand you can't seriously assume that German main channel ARD would accept an obscene act on stage.
