Celebrating 20 years as a singer
Portugal 1991: Dulce Pontes releases best-of album
Dulce Pontes was a newcomer to the Portuguese music scene when she won the Portuguese national final in 1991. She then represented Portugal in Rome where she achieved a respectable 8th place.
In 1993 Dulce launched her second CD called "Lágrimas" where she sang fado with new arrangements. This was criticised by music experts but turned out to be a huge success. One of the tracks that had the most projection was "Canção do Mar" which is one of the most recognised Portuguese songs in the world.
Since then her world music as a singer has taken in hundreds of concerts worldwide. She has worked with such names as Andrea Boccelli, José Carreras and Ennio Morricone. She was also the composer and singer of the athem of the New Seven Wonders.
The latest album is called "Momentos" and gathers many songs recorded live in many stages around the world.

Dulce Pontes is one of the best artists not only from portugal, but of the whole world, I think. I personally love especially her version of "Povo que levas no rio", and she is one of the few portuguese singers who get the international attention that she indeed deserves. So many talented singers from smaller countries are horribly underrated..
Dulce Pontes, as Vania Fernandes and Daniela from Flor de Lis, are the best voices coming from Portugal to Eurovision desde 1990.

About Dulce, she is really a great singer, and Lusitana Paixão was indeed one of the best Portuguese entries ever in the ESC, maybe only surpassed by last year's Senhora do Mar (which final classification, by the way, was one of the most unfair results I've ever seen...)

It wasn't a car crash but a plain acident ... It was 2 days ago when she was returning to Portugal from Germany ... She and her son are ok ...
I read somewhere that she was in a carcrash recently. Don't know where I read it, so the exact details I can't remember.
Lusitana Paixão was awesome. It desrved a first place in ESC 1991.
