Eurovision Day 5: Belarus, Sweden, Slovakia

The second round of technical rehearsals continues today. In a change to the semi-finals running order Armenia and Slovaki have swapped rehearsal places, but will of course still keep their original places in the semi-finals.

Song 4: Belarus

Petr Elfimov from Belarus was the first to rehearse after the lunch break today. The Belarussians have been feeding the media in Moscow with their own branded ice cream all week, even if we have not seen any of that yet today. Petr took to the stage confidently in his white leather jacket and black leather trouser. There was another person covered in a huge white sheet on the podium. The stage is mostly lit in green.

Song 5: Sweden

Sweden’s mezzo-soprano Malena Ernman had to return home to Sweden after her first rehearsal here in Moscow to perform in a long before booked performance. She is back here now and looks happy and relaxed on stage. The performance is much what we have seen from the beginning, and the Ice queen theme goes through it. The backdrop is completely white towards the end of the song and the dancers all wear their carnival masks. There were very many stops and starts with the Swedish rehearsal but they seemed to get it right for the final run-through before the dress rehearsals.

Song 6: Slovakia

Slovakia from the second semi rehearsed today in place of Armenia, who will then rehearse tomorrow 19.20. The Slovakia couple had more or less the same performance we have seen on the first round. It is very elegantly stage produced with burning candles in the background. They both have very big vocals. She is wearing a stunning white dress and he is wearing a black shirt. There is a cellist and a grand white piano on the stage too. This entry concludes the second session of rehearsals today, and four more countries rehearse from 15.20 local time.

I find it hard to believe that people here think tyhat Sweden will not qualify. Malena Ernman is the consumate professional and will not kill her voice on two rehearsals. She has to take it easy, allow her Valkyries to get the routine down (which they did) and then come with guns blazing in the Semfinlas and the Finals. During Melodifestivalen people said: "Oh Malena did not sing well in the regional selections" "Oh Malena sucks" "Oh Malena is not interested" and then the Final came and she blew people away in the Globen and the teleaudience was fascinated and mesmerized and voted overwhelmingly for her to lift her from 8th place to a stunning victory over Mans Zelmerlow and Caroline af Ugglas. So keep cool that Malena will come with the blazing saddles and will hypnotize Europe on Tuesday, just wait and see. Sweden will easily qualify and will threated for the top prize.

ooh I am a litle bit disapointed with Sweden today...they have to be wow in order to qualify...but they were not. hope at least the juries can save them...witch I think they do. Juries will pick SWEDEN or PORTUGAL I think.

Belarus - Very poor

Sweden - Still think that the whole opera/pop vibe does not work. She does have a great opera voice but her pop sound is very weak. Poor.

That's a great vocal performance of Petr and the song is also great, I am pretty sure he'll also perform in the final.
Sweden also sounds promising and will qualify with no problems.

Layla, don't say that Alenka got to the finals because of the neighbours, the most she got in the semifinal was 10 points from Montenegro, the other neighbours didn't give us very high points. Alenka qualified because she was really excellent in performing, the song was amazing and she collected votes from many coutries. She would qualify without the votes of the neighbours!

Sorry neighbours, i think Malena was just...ok today, not great like in the first rehersal.
Also I think Belarus have strong possibilities for qualification.
Slovakia? Goodnight

Well after seeing thies second rehearsal for Sweden I start thinking that they will struggle.... Will they be safed by the juries twice in a row ?

Belarus is well peformed but not sure about the song, maybe.... more chances than Sweden

Montenegro, I like the song but the performance in just not convincing

Tjech Republic.... absolutely hate it

Belgiuym... best rehearsal once again, pity the guy lost his voice, but still 4 days

I like the belarussian song, it's the presentation i don't like. The singer needs a make over and a stylist a.s.a.p. His voice is strong!

Malena knows well what she's doing. I like listening to her song. It's not winning material i think and i cannot say with certainty if the majority of eurovision voters could associate with it.

I like that Swedish one lol :P andd Belarus is not that bad !
But the show is so simple and silly :S a white rocker on the stage :S

I have moved Belarus from 'doubtful' to 'maybe' getting to the final. He has a very good voice and the song sounds quite good, but it is so early in the running that it may lose votes by being forgotten.

Sweden is in my 'probable' group. If the public don't put her in the Top 9, I think the juries will vote her into the final.

I hope this just means in rehearsals, which is fine as far as I'm concerned. It would be really unfair if countries start swapping places in the semifinals. What would be the point of the draw then?

Belurus should get in final and there, a top 10 placing wouldn't be out of the question.

I agree entirely mina x.

I've loved the Belarus entry from the word go. I wonder if the little girl in the audience (preview video) will be waving her placard of Petr in Moscow?
