Douze Points results in
London: Fairytale beats My Time
Retro Bar's Douze Points night is the longest running Eurovision Song Contest monthly event in the UK, well into it's 11th year. The May event is an annual preview party for the competition, showing all the videos and allowing those present to vote.
Norway won the vote, ahead of the UK. Interestingly, all five Nordic countries placed in the top 10, with Sweden 3rd, Finland 7th, Iceland 8th and Denmark in joint 9th place.
The biggest surprises of the night were France only reaching 22nd place, although Patricia Kaas is less well known in the United Kingdom than anywhere else in Europe and Turkey finishing in second from last place. This is by far the lowest position that Turkey has achieved on any poll so far this year.
It's not all good news for Norway though. The previous winners of the Retro Bar Event have not faired particularly well. In fact, in the last three years, two failed to reach the top half at the Eurovision Song Contest final and one failed to qualify for it. They are:
2008 Iceland - Euroband
2007 Switzerland - DJ Bobo
2006 Germany - Texas Lightning

Greece, Spain, Iceland, the UK. Quite 'gay' taste. It was evident they were not going to award many points to Switzerland or so. Period.
what does this show? Turkey is nothing without a diaspora
Wow, most of their taste is very bad and predictable... Still, there is a first time for everything. Sooner or later they will get one right, hopefully it will be this year.
Patricia Kaas is not exactly well known in Norway either.
so UK always last every esc.they r understand good music hahaha
OMG, they always pick great songs! Germany was best in 2006, Switzerland second best in 2007, and Iceland second past in 2008. I love Norway this year, and haha at Turkey. But Russia didn't deserve no points.
@ Lovely Bones: Your profile states you're from Germany and you were slagging off the UK's record of late, hence my retort. I for one am not one of those who goes against my country's entry but I like others don't blindly go with the 'it will win' crowd. In the past the UK was always 'favourite' to win (basically from the mid 60s to the mid 80s) but that didn't always mean we did.
If you can't take criticism, then don't criticise a group of people who voted for the songs they like. For my part, my favourite this year is Iceland. I love my country (and thank you for referring to it as the UK), am very proud of it and its achievements. However if I don't think our song will win, I believe I have the right to say so and offer an opinion on which one I believe will. I would love My Time to be the winner. Whether it does is down to the good people of Europe, of which you are one. If that makes me 'stupid' then so be it. I've been called worse in my time (no pun intended).
Some commenters should realise this isn't a prediction, it's just a few people, mainly gay men, in a small London pub, voting for the songs they like. It has no other significance. F.L.Y. were also 'lucky' enough to win the Retro bar vote - I was there - and look what happened to Hello From Mars!
It's not true to say it's a gathering of British fans though. This is London - it's a VERY international group of people at the Retro Bar.
very odd results, turkey france switzerland all near the bottom. this will be very different in moscow
24 th Turkey?? Hahahah nonsense

Turkey(hadise) Top3
@Night Editor
You are simply so stupid, what does it have to do with Germany? Of course, Germany had zero votes as well, but this ridiculous voting is so over the top that I can help myself to comment. That's true that UK will again be in the bottom but one thing I don't understand is why you yourself are underestimating your countries entries and put your backs on Greece, or some kind of other country(especially Nordic) and cheer for themselves. I have many English friends and I love UK as a great country with dignity. But you and the likes of yourselves just don't deserve UK IMO, when your mind changes UK will be successful again and won't throw away its votes(as one of the big 4 countries) into dustbin.
@ Lovely Bones: ...and Germany's won how many times? Er, is that 'once' in 53 attempts, I hear you say? And how many times has Germany finished last? Well let's see. 1964 - er.. 0 points. 1965 - er... 0 points. Would you like me to continue or shall I spare your blushes?
Turkiye 24rd? You gotta be kidding me

Further to my comment below ...
Glad to see Azerbaijan in 11th place...
"Always"
is MY most favourite song at first AND every listen and, with a 1st rehearsal that was SUPER, it can only get better!!!!
Furthermore, this will be the song... EVERYONE
will need to beat!!!!
Of course, I support, but cannot vote for my own country's song...
GO GREECE !!!!!
Paul 89
Shocking how well Alexander is doing with this overall good (NOT great) song (melody is fine, but I can't stand his...screeching fiddle-playing) and those lyrics are so lame not to mention his unconvincing ...screaming voice!
So, first in polls/odds/voting parties is ...'fairytale'?
I am still expecting to see it ... drop, flop and fail!
After all, it HAS happened before to the "leader"...
And this is the ever-so-UNpredictable ESC, dear...
Honestly, I CANNOT "hear" at first OR any listen(!)
what you or others seem to hear in this song...!!!!
Stay tuned...
His 1st rehearsal on the magnificent NEW stage in Moscow was nowhere near perfect!!!!! Minor details in sound and lights will be taken care of. Don't worry!!!!! You will hear/watch the real performance of Greece's "This Is Our Night" with
S A K I S
... very soon
... when it matters most ...
Let's see who will stand out from the 3 song presentations
mentioned in my comment ...Greece, Azerbaijan OR Norway???
My guess is Greece and Azerbaijan.-
Turkey top 3
24 th Turkey? LOLLLL unreal !!
Sweden 3rd?? Have I miss something???
Ha ha ha...
This comes from a country once winning the contest twice in 5-6 years, and now so low that they managed to get it equal with their zero point records.
Ukraine 93 points. Is this a joke? Or perhaps they voted just after they get drunk during the party.
yeeeey bad luck to norway XD there is hope int he world after all lol
Whilst the winner was as predictable as the Pope's religion
LOL, i'm getting a somewhat passive-aggressive vibe here...
Thanks for the 12
Paddy D - i will be a very happy lady if Uk, Bosnia, Switzerland and Norway finish in the Top 4.
Blue!!! No!!! UK televoters will undoubtedly give Greece and Turkey 12 and 10 BUT i can't believe our jury will. Overall, it's probably 6 and 7 for Turkey and Greece from UK this year.
Retro people can anyone help me.....is Jade's position (2nd) the highest the UK has ever come at these Retro douze points evenings? Thanks.
@Gigi j
If you a turk live in the UK you beleive correct but if you are British bad luck!
UK will vote GREECE and SAKIS with 12 points as every year!!!!!!!! there so many Greek - and Greekcypriot their who vote every year for Greece!!!! thank you UK!
it's so stupid to think you can predict the winner over big polls, and amateur votingparties etc. Let's just wait till the finals, ok?
i'm from the UK and i think that hadise deserved better than 23rd??
we will give 12 points 2 her i am sure!!
24th Turkey??? Come on!!! Hadise top 3
So what if the last three winner of this party failed? Alexander is already beyond all of them and will blow the hell out of Europe!
Thank you, London!
Greece ... 4th
The only song I'm shocked by how well it's been doing is Norway's, because I cannot "hear"(!!)
what others seem
to hear, but -hey!- I guess then it is only me that he
STILL has not convinced...
