Live from Moscow

Eurovision Day 7: Denmark, Slovenia and Hungary

Three more countries now as we reach the songs in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. After the reports videos will be added when they become available on our partner websites.

For pictures live from the hall, see today's gallery at click here

Denmark

Brinck is taking the rehearsal in his stride with a set of strong, confident run-throughs after an initial interrupted run to check sound levels. Everything sounds perfect the auditorium now, as Brinck performs in front of cool, understated neon blues and whites.

The backing group is a credit to the Danish show, as they lend the song a lot of energy with their enthusiasm. The overall effect is one of a strong and very credible pop-rock song that would not look out of place on a big arena tour. The pyros used today consist of huge, criss-crossing fountains of sparks which erupt on stage in the last chorus of the song - a striking show, but one which does not distract too much from the song itself.

There is a small contingent of Danish fans in the hall today, who raise a smile on the singer's face with their cheers. There is certainly a great vibe on stage with laughter on stage suggesting that the Danes are at ease and feeling positive about the performance.

Slovenia

Blues give way to deep reds as the stage is set up Slovenia. It takes a while to set up the five portals for the song, a process which should hopefully have speeded up by the time the second semifinal comes round! The silhouette effect is dramatic as ever, as the group expertly plays at full theatrical power, spinning and girating behind their screens as the intro thunders out. The group are dressed casually, giving no clue as to their final costumes yet.

The lighting is epic, with sweeping spots and fiery reds and whites flashing above the stage, and burning bright whites beating in time, an effect especially strong in the heartbeat break. Vocally it is building brilliantly too, although the vocal did sound a little loud in the hall - the rehearsals no doubt ironing out some of the problems with levels.

Hungary

With characteristic energy, Zoli and the girls give it their all in the high energy dance routine today. There were some lengthy discussions about mic levels and mixing on stage, but the crew still managed to get a couple of run-throughs out of the rehearsal session.

Today Zoli appeared in green trousers and sparkly top - matching his backing singers - and the girls were in split skirts in a range of pink and yellow sequinned material. The set-up screams 'clubbing' and 'disco', and is really complimented by the angular neon blues of the lighting. He turns in a much stronger vocal performance today - a case of improving over time or saving the best until last, perhaps.

Hungary: A lot of energy on the stage but sometimes they seem to be everywhere without a pattern, i"m dissapointed with this entry which I thought was going to be of the best in this group. He is a good dancer, but not here. His clothes are horrible..Hope he can improve for the semifianl, otherwise he will not pass to the finals.

Denmark: is a very catchy song and probably he will be in the finals but i don't see him winning the contest at all.

Slovania: Is more music than singing, is an average song that i don't see it into the final.

Awesome! I think HUNGARY is the only country to actually USE the stage and take advantage of it being that big. Um, as far as dance song goes, that is. Coz ferance is awesome and she just stands still but that's howa ballad shouled be.

Denmark
Nice song, nice singer, average performance. He seems a bit unenthusiastic on stage. Maybe that will also change once the atmosphere of a full audience comes into play.

Slovenia
I like this song a lot. I think it's interesting. The stage looks great, I love the lights. Oh, she sings in Slovenian now? And English, cool. She doesn't have the most pleasant voice in the world, but she doesn't sing bad at least. Overall I like the performance. I'd still like to see some more high hand movements from her while she's behind the frame.

Hungary
Awful, hideous song. I hate disco! He sings really bad live still... The reason he sings bad is not because of the dance routine, because then he would have sung great in the start where he does nothing. Bad excuse, he suck. The way they start out on the floor looks stupid and the dancing is extremely silly and ***. The costumes are so ugly too. I never imagined Hungary could manage to send something even worse than Csezy, ewww. :( This will be the break for me where I go to the bathroom. :P

denmark: nice radiopop song but not really special. Im not sure if this will qualify.

slovenia: the instrumental part is just too long, people will go and have a break lol, vocals of the singer arent he best either.

hungary: the backings look nice but WTF?? a big LOL to his clothes, its too gay and where is his voice? I really hope this one doesnt qualify cause the song is boring too, nothing new.

dk is strong and confident, we have to consider it seriously for a 9th or 10th spot after all.. Slovenia is getting old on us but how will it be recieved by first time viewers? hungary will best last again.

Hungary is improving.Zoli s voice is much more better.I think is good enough.I watched the others and I think is hard for everybody live in a huge arena. For Zoli is hard because the choreography is one of the hardest ones.He is making flicks and a lot of movements. For me is finalist 12 points from Romania

I was hoping to see the clothes today but okay I guess we'll have to wait a little more. Otherwise I am positive about this second rehearsal, it all looks and sounds classy and very cool.

Quartissimo & Martina, you're the best, don't you forget that in Slovenija we're happy to have you there in Moscow representing this small country on the sunny side of the Alps!

Zoli Adok may look hilarious with his outfit, but his dancers are wearing gorgeous dresses, so they won't win the Barbara Dex!

Slovenia is so stylish, I think the song will pass easily. The only thing I don't like is her voice, it's too high and doesn't fit the violins.

And what's all the excitement about the danish song? I find it hardly noticable ...

Da Coba [58267]
Sat 9 May 2009 13:02:56

The Danish song isn't one of my favourites but he performs well and I think it will probably qualify.

The Slovenian performance continues to irritate me with the screen. I would say maybe/doubtful it will qualify.

The vocals of the Hungarian entry still don't sound great. It's a 'maybe' for qualification IMO.

Dimwit Sarper Icen, do not mention my name before you learn to speak proper English! You are obviously just far too stupid to understand my comment and to dare to link my comment to your own. You have no clue about me or my country, so SHUT UP or else use your backside in a more sparingly way, you obnoxious twat!

Blaise Jones [45605]

What the HELL is Zoli Adok wearing? I didn't think they could make the song much camper, but it's become ridiculous. I hate the song too.

I love the Danish entry, just wish he'd pull up his trousers.

I don't mind the Slovenian entry. It should look classy and cool, and that'll help it make qualification.

dear mi reina!
I'm a humanist so i cant behave rude like you! I only said i loved Alenka much more than this year's. ok? And belly dance... hmm..
Kalomira did this european people said super, Paparizou did this they both liked her! that's why you dont like Hadise.. She is beautiful and strong and probably will be the winner.. Hungary - better this time. But still needs lots of improvement, especially vocally. I do not thing this will qualify if there aren't drastic changes... But good luck, I kind of like the song.
Denmark - Qualifier, very good rehersal! Although I am still not too fond of the song...
Slovenia - I love the first part of the song.. then... nothing more happens, and it doesn't reach anywhere. Unfortunately. But I think Slovenia has one of the best backgrounds this year - love it!!! Unsure if it will qualify or not.
Good luck to all.
