"We wouldn't go back to the Eurovision"
Ireland: Eurovision dream is over
Speaking afterwards, Sinéad Mulvey said that the members of the band were very disappointed that they did not qualify but were still happy with their performance on their night.
In an interview on RTÉ Radio 1 show 'Morning Ireland', lead artist Sinéad Mulvey said: "We couldn't have done any more. We gave our heart and soul into that performance."
When asked about the future, Sinéad replied: "Do you know what? I think there's going to be a lot more of me and Black Daisy. There are so many people already giving offers and asking for different things."
She later added: "As far as Ireland is concerned, I think that we stand a really good chance in the music business when we come back, so we're delighted about that."
Sinéad furthermore said that she and Black Daisy would have no interest in representing Ireland at the Eurovision again.
"No, we wouldn't go back to the Eurovision," she said. "We've done our thing now. We've shown what we can do for Ireland and we know the majority of Ireland are proud of us, so that's all we can do."
Twenty songs chosen from the semi-finals will now take part in Saturday night's final, along with automatic qualifiers Russia, Spain, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. Ireland currently holds the record for winning the Eurovision song Contest, a stagering seven times.

So so sorry that they didnt qualify.superb preformance.ranked them 6-8th to go through......once i saw Croatia amnd Lituania qualify i knew that was it....u have done the country really proud...we have loved the song and most of all ur preformance on the night was stunning...if it was juries only would we have qualified???????????
All I will say is that Ireland was robbed. Having said that, what can the Irish do to get in the Final ?. You could either, Send Brian Kennedy with another excellent song, or tell Ronan Keating to write something. Sinead and the girls were brilliant, if they had 50/50 voting in the semis they would have got 12 pionts from the UK. No danger. Don't give up see you in Oslo next year.
I don't know how to feel about Ireland anymore (one of my favourite countries of ESC ever). It seems RTE is making on purpose NOT to win and that's simply one of the most arrogant things I've seen on this contest.
Cheers from Portugal.
I certainly have no problem with the songs from Greece and Cyprus 'Whatever' - Cyprus had a good song this year and she gave a great performance on Thursday, Greece on the otherhand is overhyped rubbish (IMO) and I certainly shant be voting for it tonight.
James S
Did you have a specific problem with the SONGS of Greece
and Cyprus
?
If you followed the news on this site, back in March, a draw
took place for the running order of each entry and in which
of the two Semifinals each country would perform. The luck
of the draw, I guess, but these SONGS happen to be pretty
awesome, too! Unfortunately, Cyprus did not manage to
qualify, but Greece did and will perform at the Final at No. 8.
Maybe you will enjoy the performance enough to vote for it.
Hi James,
I agree with what you are saying and the girls did a fabulous job last night, in my opinioon as songs go it shoud have qualified, however I think in the final it won't be an east european country that will get a 12 from Ireland, i think it will be UK or Malta, for a few reasons the irish public normally vote for a good song, beacuse of the economic conditions many foreign nationals have left and the rest may not be able to afford the cost of the call/text!!!
I thought we had a decent song, good performance and on merit should have qualified but as an island in the far west of europe we just don't have enough friends/neighbours to vote for us!
Just one question - I thought that the semi finals were split in terms of voting patterns. Fair enough that the UK voted in semi final 1 as they are the country most likely to vote for Ireland but why was Ireland in the same semi as Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. A casual glance at the last 5yrs voting patterns show these are the countries who receive most votes from Ireland. And as sure as eggs are eggs - there will be 12pts from Ireland to Lithuania tomorrow night. I won't even ask what Greece and Cyprus were doing in the same semi final or why Russia was voting in a semi that contained Azerbaijan and Ukraine!
I am sorry Ireland didn't make it, They deserved to be in the final...
@ Lovely Bones
This is an article about IRELAND
... a place, where I soon will moving to and call my home!!!!
Sinead and Black Daisy gave a good, solid performance and with a fun UPTEMPO catchy song ...MY APPLAUSE ... They've done Ireland proud even if they did not get enough votes to qualify and, of course, they are disappointed. For once, at least, show some respect to THEIR feelings.
its obvious Ireland should have been in the final. its one of very few unfair results from the semis this year, overall its been quite fair voting this year
To be honest. Irish music is getting cheaper and cheaper....Golden age of Ireland already ended long time ago.
One of the best of the night. THis year Ireland have a right to feel a bit hard done by, unlike last year.
Hmmm a ESC final once again without Ireland
Very sad indeed
I feel that RTE,should complain to Russian tv,about the awful camera work, during Ireland's performance.at one point Sinade, has to step out of the way of the cameraman.also i thought the set for ireland, was not good, considering that an irishman, designed the whole extravaganza.RTE,complain.the performance was excellent.well done sinade, and the girls.
In my opinion, there is no point in Ireland even entering the Eurovision anymore. We are too far out and all the Eastern European countries vote amongst themselves.
The Eurovision isnt about the music anymore. If it were there would be GOOD music going in, instead if we watch it, we have to listen to mostly BAD music. Fair enough there are a few good entries at times, but jeBus there are A LOT of terrible ones aswell!!
Truth like!
GOOD LUCK CHIARRA !!! VOTE MALTAA!!! http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=EoEQP1fVlok !!!!! WATCH ITTT!! LOVE YOU EUROPE!!!
Their performance was better than I expected, but I still didn't think it would qualify. I think Ireland should stick to strong ballads. Most of Ireland's Eurovision success is with ballads and I think that is where success still lies for the Emerald Isle in this contest.
The Irish were outnumbered by the majority of Eastern europena countries in their group, surprised that Denmark made it, wanted to see Cyprus there too.
i was chating with my mates during the second semi final and i said that i rly liked it and still like it.. feel sorry that Ireland did not pass for the final
they deserved better
I feel sorry for the Irish girls. Their song was nothing special but still it was a decent SONG, sounded like a song, similar to our Vanilla Ninja... I gave all my votes to Ireland.
I think it was the most catchy irish song in years! They give her all and it was really nice! A pity they didn't achieve the final.. But it's something that can happen and that can't make you feel down.
I think this contest have to change several things to be still alive, specially in some countries like mine.. perhaps give the chance to a not public channel or someting.. because the public channel here have shown that it's not interested at all about this.. It seemed this year was going to be different but nope.. So I just pary for EBU to kick off Spain of the big Four as punishment.
Anyway, here we are talking about Ireland! So I wish the best in their new career! Be just happy feeling that at least, some people in Ireland and other places of the world will enjoy your music!
So
Poor girls from ireland
They did pull a reasonable performance out of the bag last night but in my view the song was just pleasant and nothing more. It would have been nice to see them qualify but I'd have put Hungary in the final before them. There's a lot of strong songs in the final and if Ireland were there I think they would probably be in the bottom few because the song just isn't very strong.
Ireland was robed to the final.
I already like the SONG and, to paraphrase Kylie,
"Can't get that tune out of my head"
It is an UPTEMPO song, after all!
Definitely, not one of those make-sleepy, CRY/ cut-your-throat-type SNOOZE-fests called songs!!!!!! This year, none of the slow songs are of the high calibre of the two ESC winning songs: "Molitva" (2007) and "Believe" (2008).
The announcer mentioned that a 4th member was supposed to be on stage. What happened?
Also, the performance of Ireland's "Et cetera" was fun, pleasing and solid. Could it have been the running order?
Best of luck in their career after ESC! Furthermore, they've got nothing to worry about, because they've done Ireland proud!!!
My family and I will be moving from
Greece to IRELAND
very soon and we hope to get a chance to see you
performing LIVE! again. See you there!!!
I cant believe people are calling this rock.
REAL rock is written by the performers!
To bad for Irland, I think they deserved to be in the Final. But on the other hand thats the game! So stop saying "we don't want to play anymore"! Only 25 songs can be in the final so some has to go. I hate everytime Denmark does not reach the final..... but I watch the show anyway.
It's placing in the running order killed it to be honest, even though Croatia got through at 1st.
Ireland shouldn't give up on Eurovision, all they need to do is bring in people who are actually KNOWN outside Ireland. The UK have gone halfway there this year although we'd be better off bringing in an actual well established artist/group as well as someone like ALW.
