Ministers line up to praise Rybak

Norway: The Eurovision party starts

Norway is celebrating a third Eurovision Song Contest victory after Alexander Rybak's fairytale won the Eurovision Song Contest by a landslide. The song that has been a runaway favourite since before even winning Melodi Grand Prix did not disappoint, and broke the record for the number of points gained by a song and the winning victory margin.

As the Eurovision Song Contest voting came to a conclusion, the clocks in Norway passed midnight and Norway's national day began. Traditionally a day of national celebration and pride, today, Norway is celebrating twice as hard.

Last night, the Prime Minister of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg, who is currently in Spain before travelling to Russia stated "it’s a great holiday and I should say that it will be particularly pleasant for me now to visit Moscow next Tuesday". The Minister for Culture signalled that the government would work closely with NRK to stage the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, stating "It’s simply fantastic. We are already thinking where to hold the event next year".

The first videos of street parties following Alexander Rybak's victory are now appearing online. Below, you can see some of the crowds coming out on the streets of Norway to celebrate their victory. Alexander Ryback joins Bobbysocks and Secret Garden in the Eurovision hall of fame, as the third winner to take the Eurovision Song Contest to norway.

Iceland won last night, the first place was never a contest. Iceland, Turkey and Azerbaijan fought for the second and Iceland prevailed!

And by winning the semi final we can at least say we have 1/2 a win! For the first time in months the Icelandic people are happy.

You should ALL be ....THANKING ...G.R.E.E.C.E.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D (Norway, too!)

Europe's --historically FIRST, true WESTERN ;)-- country,
G.R.E.E.C.E. (L) was FIRST to announce her ESC representative, (L) S A K I S (L)!!!!!! :D :D :D

THAT was in itself a GUARANTEE ;) that the bar ... HAD to be set HIGH
(and, eventually, was) by all of the other remaining ESC participating countries!!!

Hence, UK's ALW?????O France's Patricia Kaas????? :O ... at the ESC???? and so on.

After that ... ALL countries just participated (GAMBLED?) ;) in a ... R.U.S.S.I.A.N. roulette!
(However, it is NO coincidence that the "winner" just happened to speak ...R.U.S.S.I.A.N. :O ...FLUENTLY!!) ;)

Indeed, the competition PROVED to be strong, but I still don't think the BEST song won.

As for (L) S A K I S (L), he had a
STRONG well-orchestrated (musically /vocally /visually) SONG
that WON (with juries ;), I might add!!!)...7th place out of 42 songs! :D :D :D
I am very satisfied with his ENERGETIC performance!!!

A B.I.G. THANKS --ONLY-- to the MILLIONS in EUROPE,
who did VOTE FOR GREECE'S (L) S.O.N.G.!!!!!!!

...."This is our night" with (L) Sakis Rouvas (L) ....

Y.O.U. HAVE SUPER GREAT TASTE IN M.U.S.I.C.
as well as a ... FRESH :), MODERN :), SLEEK :)
...OUTL@@K and APPROACH to LIFE!!!!

It is 2009, after all ... ;)

Great performance and it deserved to win. I really don't remeber when the wining song was so different than all others songs.

Congratulations to Norway. They really deserved it (Iceland a little more, but ;) )

It seems the only "western" countries able to win are the Scandinavians.

And he's already No.4 in Sweden! Congratulations!

Greece didn't deserve to be in the final with this song. So they should be celebrating a 7th place, achieved mostly thanks to some diaspora and of course the obligatory 12 points from Cyprus (which sucks)
