Hadise: "I am happy"
Media reaction in Turkey
Hadise herself has stated that she is happy about her fourth place between successful singers like Jade Ewen and Patricia Kaas. She added that her target has always been to reach the top five, which she managed to do.
Turkey had finished second in first semi final with only two points behind Iceland. In the final, the country finished fourth but got the second highest amount of top marks behind winning country Norway.

We in the west still think Turkish songs are stereotyped. Your entry last year (2008) was diabolical, it had no meaning whatsoever. Sorry if i have upset people but my attitude will never change. You will get more respect if you send a ballad next year.
its not only turkish votes u s.ll.
now we have jury vote which u adore it
but u still cant understand the point and always attack to turkiye
just get over it
jealoussssssssssssssss
Turkey should be more tahn happy with the 4th place. If it hadn't been for all the exile-Turks voting for their native country, it would have been much worse. 12 points from France, UK and Switzerland? Silly
Dave Shaw:
if you are thinking that we are sending the "same" rubbish ever year, I think go and have your ears checked, Athena, Sibel Tüzün, Mor ve ötesi and Hadise sang totally different songs!!
also, I know much more rubbish songs which were at top 5 in recent years, so please learn about Turkey's ESC history, then make comments !!
It's a pitty that they are unhappy. I do have to say that maybe 3rd or 2nd place would have been better. I still don't understand how Azerbaijan got so high. In belgium we found it shocking!
But still a fourth place is very good! And although the turkish people aren't really happy, the most important thing is that Hadise herself is happy with her result!
GO HADISE
dave,
stop ur unfair and rubbish comments
and respect ur juries
let me remind u one thing
all countries ( esp. west/north ) want them come back
and now u r still talking about unfair positions
ur real problem is just the name of the country
thats all
@ paul c
I also hope to see more quality songs in ESC, but dancing and dance songs aren't nesecesarily low quality songs. I strongly disagree with the tendency to ban dance songs from ESC. Dancing for a singer is not sth that he should be ashamed of, but it is a virtue and a quality.
I believe (and hope) this is the beginning of the end for "shake, shake, shake your booty" songs...there's a new wind of change in Europevision..for the better! less cleavage and more quality singing...!
I am disappointed that Turkey finished 4th, they should have been 20th. Why? because they send the same rubbish every year. i'm getting fed up with all this belly dancing and red dresses. Every kebab house in Britain must have voted for her. I know I dIdn't. No doubt we will see the same next year.
eurovision political song contest-------epsc!
Turkish 4th place in ESC2009 was the biggest scandal of the night.
Hadise vocaly was embarassing and her appearance was close to humiliation.
So i really do not understand why the Turkish media are unhappy.
PS. I can't believe that Mor Ve Otesi's B R I L L I A N T song scored worse than Hadise's crap. And please Turkey, NO MORE BELLY DANCING! We had enough already!
It is clear that neighboring and diaspora votes have an effect on the results however, I still insist that the most important parameter is the song itself. Why didn't Norway win last year? Why Serbia was on top in 2007 but not qualified this year? Why Greece is seventh while it was winner in 2005? Look Finland, the winner of 2006 is the bottom-placed of 2009. And I do not have any doubt that Alexander was the best of this year and Norway really derserved this. I am very very happy for Norway. Turkey was succesful as well and Turkey should not be sad for the result. You don't have to be winner every year. Try to enjoy the success of Norway this year. This is the Eurovision spirit. I always say "what if we would have a chance to live 42 different winnings of the 42 countries. Each one of them is another delight. I love Eurovision... Fırat RN/Turkey
I know Macedonians really like the Turkish entry, I usually do too, but not this year. It was good, but it was very predictable, the song, the choreo, the outfit. Seen it so many times before. Although I like Hedise. So, 4th place for Turkey is very good, they should be happy enough, it's even better than what I voted for (i.e. UK and lovely Jade). Wish to see Macedonia at 4th place one day!
WOW! Theyre in an uproar cuz they didnt win?!!! What a sore loser! They should be happy enough they got that far unlike other countries that didnt get through to the finals. Again, poor Andorra
the song was crappy the costume of one backing singer( green tracksuit) was just random like they made a trip to primark that afternoon and after it all you came second. Take away your diaspora... Just halve all the votes that came from blocs for the top five and we would get something along the lines of norway first Iceland second uk third Azerbaijan fourth Estonia fifth and look turkey didnt make it. When you have people that will vote for you whatever you send you shouldn't complain they can't make you winners... The uk have no neughbours and are jubilant to be in the top five so get over yourselves
and Russian technician and directors of cameras done complo to Turkiye. they didn t change point of viev of the cameras and din t change the colors of the light.there was a problem at the sound sistem. Turkiye requested to solve the problems. but crew didn t do anything on purpose. So Turkiye deserve more points.
Get over it Turkey!
i think norway and ıceland does not deserve the first place.they got those points because of their country ın north of eurpoe. all the time north europe countiries share their votes with their neighbours. they don t vote the song and show. ıf there is no show, i am sure they ll give same points to same countries. this is not fair.
Is it just me that thinks that the Turkish entry looks and sounds the same every year? (traditional dancy music with belly dancers in red costumes)... why don't they do something different? I personally think they were lucky to get through the semi-finals for that reason alone - but clearly the rest of the UK do not share my view (or they were just looking and not listening).
P.S. Greece also seem to like recycling their past winners (last years performance was like Paparazzo's)
I think that Turkey were amazing last night and a 4th place is good for them so there is no need for the media to be disappointed at all. Hadise did a great job, even though she was unwell but managed perfectly fine and deserved a good placing. She put on a wonderful show and I knew she would reach the top 5, which she did so congratulations to Hadise. Well done for reaching the final, another thing that I genuinely believed! I always knew from the very beginning that she would do well. I am sure that Turkey will send something fantastic next year and have every faith in them since they have been getting good results these past few years. A second victory next year would be so great and well deserved! From last night's result, Turkey did well to impress both the juries and televoters with their spectacular performance. They managed to pick up points from countries, like Greece, Israel, Armenia, Spain and Portugal, who are at the bottom of their list.
GO TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Richard Howard
the word "racism" was a little harsh I know. Sorry for that. It is obvious that it does not include you. about Hadise. yes she didn't deserve to win I know.
but considering the moderators of this site still keeping the comment of an idiot-called Hennuv- who wrote "Turks are very rude and pottymouths. " then I still might have a point about this..
OMG, are they serious? they are unhappy with the 4th place? hello??
they accused her for her outfit and now they are unhappy? for christ's sake they think they can win every year? boooh
Hadise suupppppeeer

4.Turkey (congratulations
)
5.United Kingdom ( congratulations
Turkey might have ended higher if the 50% jury voting had not been in effect. My own country Holland did not give 12 to Turkey in a very lonmg time... usually diapora Turkish voting always guarantees top points in Holland, Germany and others. Of course, islamic block voting did help Turkey. On the whole Dum Tek tek deserved a 3rd or 4th place. Turkey should not complain and remember the time when they almost always came last...!!!
and about Sertab victory, it was her ability to bring the first victory for turkey, great victory with fantastic performance, she changed eurovision, many artists took advantage of that oriental, belly dancing, many failed many found success, infact, they still do in eurovision e.g. hadise, her red costume of belly dancers made dum tek tek hot this year,
Come on Turkey, Hadise was very nervous on stage, she was good but she also achieved good position, Iceland and Azerbaijan and ofcourse Norway deserved their position as well, but hey taugh competition, no need to cry
Emporio...I really believe that Sertab would have won in 2003 no matter what...the reason for the close final result was that the quality of the top five songs that year was very good! The votes were very evenly spread throughtout the voting process...I really don't think you can thank 'dispora' for Turkey's win that year!
