Israel: 16.8% watched Eurovision final

Last night, 304,500 households in Israel had watched the grand final of Eurovision Song Contest 2009, live from Moscow.

Although coming second in the number of viewers, right after Channel 10's Survivor with 317,800 viewers, the ESC had a viewing share of 30.7%. It means that almost one out of three households in Israel had watched the Eurovision. Only 8.8% had watched the first semifinal where Israel took part (160,300 viewers), and the second semifinal was watched by 5.9% (107,100 viewers) - more than the second semifinal of 2008 that was watched by 88,000 households only. (4.9%)

Last year's final got a rating of 41.5% with 408,600 watchers, and the first semifinal was watched by 198,600 watchers (11%).

However, IBA can still be satisfied with the fact that the Israeli entry, There must be another way, was played frequently during the time between the national selection to the contest, and even more after the qualification to the final. This week, it was placed 13th in the hit-list of the biggest Israeli radio station, Galgalatz.

Noa & Mira had finished 16th in the Eurovision 2009 final with 53 points, after qualifying to the final from the 7th place with 75 points.

One of the few songs that really stand out this year. It was well presented and well sung. I feel guilty because we didn't award any votes, (shame on us UK) It should easily have been in the top 10.

I mean, by the media before the contest, 16th place was a success.
