Viewing figures soar in Estonia

Saturday night's Eurovision Song Contest saw another ratings success in Estonia. More than 400,000 viewers tuned in to see local act Urban Symphony take 6th place with their entry Rädajad, the country's best finish since 2002.

In total, 413,000 people watched the Eurovision Song Contest final in Estonia. 165,000 watched the first semi final, and 344,000 people watched as Estonia qualified from the second semi final on Thursday night.

Urban Symphony became the first Estonian act to qualify from a Eurovision Song Contest semi final since their introduction in 2004. Last year, the country finished 18 in the semi final, just one place above last. In 2007, Gerli Padar took 22nd place in the semi final with 27 songs competing.

Estonia won the Eurovision Song Contest with Tanel Padar, Dave Benson and 2XL in 2001 with 198 points. They were fourth a year later with Anna Sahlene's Runaway. That was the last time they reached the top 20 in the Eurovision Song Contest.

I am so happy Estonia failed last year and this year was a success.... Hope this will help Estonia to bring great songs like they did in the past and not the horrible stuff like 2004; 2005; 2006; 2008 (and 1998 as well :)

I really liked Estonia this year - a mystic & erotic song, one of the best they've sent in my opinion. Great to see it gave them a good result after the embarrasment of Leto Svet. Kudos! See you in Oslo 2010:-)

Yes, of course the viewing figures were high, it must have been great for Estonians to see their country in the final for the first time since 2003, and to do so well there, too! :) Congratulations. (I voted for you as well :))

They sent a good song this yeah, I loved it. Poor Laura, getting 12 from televote and 5 from jury, she didn't make the superfinal.
Any way Randajad is as good or even better depending on your mood. By the way, Good EestiLOL :) this year

Here I really appreciate the Jury votes... Estonia 5th place... this beautiful song, so well performed, different and in the Estonian language deserved together with France a top 5....

I liked it, but 2 songs from Estonia were much better for me:
- 1999 Evelin Samuel & Camille - "Diamond of night" (L) (L) (L)
- 2004 Neiokoso - "Tii" (L) (L) (L)
Those 2 should win! :D

@ben kalomonto
Oh yes, I agree. Send Kerli!

I am glad Estonia did fairly well, it was one of the best songs this year and the best entry from Estonia ever! Evelin Samuel & Camille second best from them in 1999 :) They should have won that year instead of 2001.

This was an amazing entry from Estonia and 6th place was underserved... should have been top 5 or even top 3 in my opinion but it has been my top 12pts country with the highest placing yet!!!!!

Well done Estonia, well done Sandra & Urban Symphony! :)

Laura for 2010?

Whatever ... in 7th HEAVEN ... [29486]

See on tee, Eesti! o/

That was the redemption of Estonia for last years' disaster, and the redemption of Sven Lõhmus for Let's Get Loud. In a big style, I should say! I simply adore Rändajad, it's very creatively constructed, I think.

I hope that next year we'll have an entry of Lõhmus again, maybe with Ines or Laura singing it? It would be great!

I still can't believe Partners In Crime didn't qualify back in 2007, it was one of the best songs of the year!
