Austria, please come back.. you belong to be in Eurovision
What about Udo Jürgens, Karel Gott, Milestones, Gary Lux, Global Kryner, Waterloo & Robinson, Thomas Forstner, Tony Wegas, to name a few artists...
Sometimes the songs were not that easy (Heute in Jerusalem, Die Zeit ist einsam) but musically they were genious. So please come back ! (Italy and Luxembourg too btw)
if next year we have 50/50 voting and in semifinals maybe Austria coming back but if is only televoting for sure NO !

@Melina
Depends on the placing I guess, and how one feels about it
I didn't think 2007 was a good song. It was too exagerated with the costumes and the background lights and images, but that's all very subjective I guess.
@Manuel (Germany)
"Austria treats Eurovision like shit". Wow! That's a statement. Well maybe Eurovision has become shit, because of the prejudice voting in the last years, and the political scadals...very distasteful! Let's hope things get better (as this year was....at least with the songs and the voting), then it won't get any shittier.By the way, ORF is Not Austria *hint*.
Lol.
Countries and broadcasters should be used correctly in context à mon avis. Merci.
"Land der Berge, Land am Strohme....."
"Winning is also a matter of luck, not only of diligence."
So true, and so are other placings as well...
Obviously it's not a good idea to only show voting live...
But Austria would've deserved better in 2007 than being second last in semi. So, in a way, I can understand their feeligns.
Austria...come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!
Austria treats Eurovision like shit. It makes me really angry...
I want you back, but ORF is just stupid... To cut the Final apart is just not right...
How is western Europe supposed to be good if Western countries dstroy the reputatio of the contest?

The most important thing about Eurovision is taking part and being part of the European family.
I love seeing the red-white-red flag come up at the beginning of our song and on the scoreboard, the second oldest flag still in use (after Denmark)!
Winning is also a matter of luck, not only of diligence.
@Nils Schrijvers
Riiiiight... And you would know how? Are you Norwegian? Ever heard Norwegian folk music with fiddle? Ever seen halling/lausdans?
It's silly of Austria to only send the voting procedure live and not the rest. I hope they come back and stop being such poor losers. Anyone CAN still win, they just haven't had very good songs, certainly not winner potential songs, since... Udo Jürgens
i doubt if Austria return next year beacuse in semifinals is only televoting , but and if from 2010 semifinals is 50/50 i thing again is not going to return..is going towait to see 2010 semifinals results to see how jurys voting and then to desite if is going to return..2011 maybe? Same for San Marino and Monaco. And personal i thing next year maybe we will see 1-2 countreys to withdrawing ..like Czech Repuplic, Andorra and Hungary and maybe some other countreys for financial reasons like Latvia.
Cut the crab: Even Austria could have come up with a winning song like the Norwegian one this year, there's nothing Norwegian to it!
Try your best and come up with something as original as the winning tune!!
Would like Austria, Luxembourg, Italy, Monaco and San Marino to be back at the eurovision!!
come back in 2010 austria
@Guyke
I really liked Hind Laroussi, her song with a certain oriental flavour and her performance in Belgrade. It's a pity that she didn't qualify. And some Dutch entries are on my all time favourite list: Corry Brokken (1958 - no, I'm not that old), Maribelle (1984), Maywood (1990) and of course Teach-In (1975), a song that I enjoy very much playing on the piano.
@ GUYKE zegikkuhniet
i think we also didn't send in good songs last years(talking about the Netherlands)
I voted for Edsilia Rombley in 2007 very much!!! I loved "On top of the world" and Dutch version is even better, she is Dutch Tina Turner, I
her very much!
I was pissed off because she didn't qualify for final!
She deserved it! And even winner in 2007, our Marija Serifovic told that she liked Edsilia Rombley very much!
And she told that she has fantastic voice!
Surely Austria can't take part next year, as they didn't broadcast the shows live this year? I thought that was in the regulations.
okay, I just missunderstood you then
Well i think we also didn't send in good songs last years(talking about the Netherlands) even though they weren't the worst ones (except for 2006 and 2009).
@Guyke
Of course you are right. However, I didn't refer to Central Europe as a whole but rather to a cultural region of mutual suffering. LOL
And it's really fascinating to watch half the continent's 200 million people failing across the board, and at the same time to delight in a nice northern girl deriving from a 300000 inhabitants country (and of course another guy not too far from the pole) who is taking Europe by storm.
@GUYKE zegikkuhniet, personal i dont talk only for central europe but also for some countreys who have "points problem" in ESC
Lily, I must say I disagree, I LOVE Austria 05 and 07, but I really dislike 04! (but my gf likes 04)
Modern or not...Well, I guess at least the songs in ESC should be conptemporary, the songs should reflect what's popular among people aged 16-35 in Iceland, germany, belarus....whereever. It doesn't have to sound like 2009 techno music, I don't mean that. But I hate typical schlagers, cheesy retro disco or euroballads that just seems "made" for ESC, which would have NO life outside ESC, probably would never been made outside the contest. I think it's important that a composer is "honest", and not calculating. I'm all for diversity anyway...rock, dance, ethno, rnb, pop, indie, jazz etc....Even if the German entry this year was very retro, I sill found it modern in a way...So also retro can be the new modern!
I hope Austria returns. Sometimes they had great songs: 07,05,99,97,96,95,93,87,86 (strangely, when Norway hosts ESC, Asutria is always my fave!)m 85,79,71,67,64,59,57. But also some of the WORST songs ever came from Austria: 62,94, 03, 76....!
On the other hand, I think ORF behaves really stupd and arroagant. They are just bad losers. So do we really need such moaners, playing on such a low level? But I feel really sorry for Austrian ESC-fans. But we can't let Austrians in general suffer from it either . That they decided to show the voting only, just proves their imsense stupidity. And hehehe ORF, what you just wanted t prove got very much DISPROVED! A Western country won by the biggest ever margin, and only one "real" Eastern country in the top 5. Serves ORF so right.
@Lina and Malta
The Netherlands and Belgium aren't considerd as Central Europe but as Western Europe.
@Ramon, @Lina
Exactly what I wanted to say. Add Belgium, Netherlands, Poland and have Austria in mind and we've got a zone of artistic poverty that anytime soon might become a development issue.
@Ramon also Poland, Netherlands and Belgium. And i realy doubt if Austria, Monaco and San Marino return for next year . Also Andorra i thing will withdraw from ESC 2010 maybe and some other countreys like Czech Rep. , Hungary and Switzerland. But i thing Slovakia will stay .
