Spain: Soraya releases new single

Soraya, the 2009 Spanish representative at the Eurovision Song Contest, has released the latest single of her new album Sin miedo. The track, entitled Caminaré, was presented yesterday evening at the talent show to give birth to her as an artist, Operación Triunfo.

Last night's performance was the first public appearance on television in Spain after Soraya's participation at the Eurovision Song Contest final last Saturday. The singer performed Caminaré, the brand new single of her latest album, Sin miedo. You can watch the video below:

Soraya represented Spain at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest with the song La noche es para mí, not receiving the support from neither juries nor televoters, thus placing second last in the Final.

Oh how I agree about the azerbijan entry.I thought it was one of the worst performed songs of the night but came 3rd,I notice that UK beat it in jury voting which shows how diaspora and neighbourly voting still exists.I hope Spain do not pull out ,but I can understand why they would want to.Soraya done a lot of work this year for Spain ,but as you say, because Spains place geographically in Europe more importantly her big 4 status, then it is difficult for her to win votes .I myself think that the big 4 will never win Eurovision again due to jealous reasoning of the rest of europe.

Thanks David for your comments. I feel sorry for my bad mood last day, but I was a bit disappointed with some unfair reaction of Mr Thompson but anyway all of us are free to give our opinion. I personally think that Soraya did great, although it is true that the backing singers were out of tune but it was not her fault. Everyone in Spain think that it was a missed chance to have a good result. she has a great voice and has travelled the whole Europe to make the promo, speaking foreign languages, attending the press always with a smile on her lips. The song was not a hit, effective but not really a great one, but Azeirbajan's song was not better and was placed 3rd. There is a common thought here that spain will never be top-5 anymore because of her geostrategic conditions, no diaspora, no many neighbours, big-4... i strongly believe that Soraya should have been placed in top-10. I know that this is a contest of songs but i cannot accept that medium singers as hadise who was out of tune all the time could make a top-4. uk has not given many points to spain tradionally but there are some countries as denmark or the baltics, including russia that never vote for spain and i wonder why, in 50 years we have sent few but great songs "eres tu", "nacida para amar", "bailar pegados", "sin rencor", "vuelve conmigo (2nd in 1995 with 0 points fron Denmark). I'm afraid that Spain is losing its interest and will soon quit the contest. By the way I loved norway's song but i prefered "is it true" from Iceland. I am embarrassed , she received 0 points from Spain ;-(. Good luck, i bought katrina's cd "love shine a light....."

I can assure you that Mr J thompson does not carry the thoughts of all UK eurovision lovers.Soraya was one of my precontest favourites I am ebarassed that the came second last, but her performance could have been better(lose the backing singers, they were bad).I also love all things Spanish and was poised to move to Ibiza 3 years ago ,but had a stroke and so am stuck in boring Blighty.I have a lot of Spanish Euro artists albums in my collection Beth,David Civera and also David Bisbal.Soraya will be added to that list. She is fantatsic artist who had a bad night. And of course seeing as the UK is generally scared of anything foreign I am suprised that anybody gets any votes in Eurovision from us,yet we whinge when we don't get votes back.I voted for Soraya 10 times and was shocked when the UK gave her no points.

There's no limit for some people to seem ridiculous. Sir John Thompson, for British people Spain has begun to sink with "Armada invencible" some centuries ago and the spirit of superiority of your country regarding latin culture has no limits. We haven't received points from your country in the whole life of the contest, just the contrary of your case with Spain. Even julio iglesias didn't received a point from your country and in 50 years you have never gave us just 10 points. Thanks for your advise to sink faster as Italy did. By the way when you decide to enjoy our music and dance under the sun in our coasts we're not going to be so polite and will say go you home dear". To say the truth bithish songs at the contest are more stupid than the medium rate, just an american singing for the UK showed a piece of talent.

@ John

In fact, TVE has been doing the same that BBC has been doing until this year.
Why BBC scheduled MYMU in 2007 one week after the HoD meeting? Because of their b**lls!!

How low can Spain sink? They don't show the semi live, they send a pile of poo to the contest and then their artist shows her priorities by releasing a competely different track less than a week after the contest. Why don't they just **** off like Italy? .. on recent form they would not be missed. Can't believe they're getting a direct final place...

I liked the Spanish entry this Year and good luck to Soraya with her career and single.

I think most of the votes in Eurovision this year was based on geographical location and politics so the Eastern block is not alone ;)

@ xarly sax

(Mi comentario no iba dirigido a ti en particular, sino a los fans en general. Y lo de chuequeras iba en concreto a los fans más fanáticos de Soraya.)

And by the way, the problem is that Soraya's song competed directly with the songs of the same kind: Turkey, Azerbaijan and Romania, mainly. The first two have a large support from Eastern fans and their diasporas, so no surprise. Soraya and Romania were discarded by the fans of cheap pop songs, who prefered the other two.

I'm for sure that your 23 position is consecuence to the acts of TVE... :( She is a big artist, the last album "Sin miedo" is dance with new sounds and good lyrics (the worst lyric in the album: la no che es para mí ;) for her no is a problem the bad position in ESC, because she working very hard and this year has got events, tours in Spain, Europe and EUA

Sorry, I love Spain and Spanish culture, but the last place was deserved. her performance was very cold and unemotional...

BTW. Alexander Rybak is #1 in Sweden,Norway #2 in Finland,Denmark and #5 in Belgium (flanders)

The fact is: Soraya made an amazing perfomance, but other countries did it two.....

The main problem was the song, there were other songs like the spanish one and among those songs, her song was not the strongest! End of discussion!

soraya cant blame tve for the bad result. her perofmance was weak, her vocvals were bad and her backing singers were dreadful, her stage show was a mess, she tried to use the wqole stage and just got lost, and the stupid trick of dissapearing, a 5 yar old could have done a better illusion, david copperfield can sleep soundly, i hope that next year spain sends a better song as they are one of my fave esc countries, as for soraya i fear she will be hearing "cabin crew secure doors for take off"

Mario Mir
Go Soraya!

Sorry this comment is in spanish. I need it

I agree with mina-x!for example Greece got 1 pt from the finnish televoting and nothing overall...if we didn't know the exact results we couldn't possibly count this 1 pt...
