Israel: How the Eurovision jury voted

Next country to announce the way its professional jury voted on the Eurovision 2009 finalist entries is Israel. The country has given the maximum score to Iceland's Yohanna, followed by Norway and France. One of the five members of the Israeli jury was esctoday's very own editor Itamar Barak.

The Israeli jury was chaired by Moshe Morad, musical editor and radio presenter at IBA. The other four members were Haya Zell, manager of IBA's musical archive; Nurit Bat Shahar Zafrir, lyricst, Tahel Zimmerman, musician, and Itamar Barak, journalist and an esctoday.com editor.

These are the complete results of the Israeli jury:

  • 1 pt - Bosnia & Herzegovina
  • 2 pts - Malta
  • 3 pts - Croatia
  • 4 pts - Moldova
  • 5 pts - United Kingdom
  • 6 pts - Armenia
  • 7 pts - Turkey
  • 8 pts - France
  • 10 pts - Norway
  • 12 pts - Iceland

Below you can see the combined result of jury vote and televote in Israel:

  • 1 pt - Moldova
  • 2 pts - Ukraine
  • 3 pts - Turkey
  • 4 pts - United Kingdom
  • 5 pts - France
  • 6 pts - Azerbaijan
  • 7 pts - Russia
  • 8 pts - Armenia
  • 10 pts - Iceland

@Layla Al-Magnuna -

it is VERY funny you are talking about "jury with no musical expertise" when they ARE the ones who is in the music indestury rather than the audience that has no backround in music

if you are going to make exeuses - at least stage them right so they won't sound so out of sense!

@Diego D.
I disagree completely. I find it illogical and ridiculous to lift up the songs that most people DON'T want/like.

Thanks Israeli televoters for your 12p!

I believe in the masses' taste over a terrible jury with no musical expertise. I really fail to see how journalists are "music experts" and radio people don't know much about quality either. Come on, the juries might as well consist of average people because these are no smarter people than you or me. It's all just a matter of taste and opinion.

Televoting is more democratic and the winner is the most popular one. Can't be more fair than that. Since the beginning of televoting no gimmicks and joke entries have won.

Read the article about technical problems with the telecomunication company Digame in Norway. There you will find the answer to your question about "why Norway voted last".

QUALITY SHOULD GO FIRST
Eurovision was created as a SONG contest, but it is now a stage of uncontrolled emotions and political passions.
There are ways to improve the quality of the results: The PROFESSIONAL JURIES in each country should qualify objective features (lyrics, harmony of the melody and arrangements, vocal interpretation etc.), according to a common scheme-sheet filled and signed by each of them, which should be accountable to make clear any possible misunderstanding.
The televoting, which is driven mainly by emotions, could count for general impression and performer's sympathy. The weight of the televoting should not exceed 1/3 (or so) in the general mark of each participant.
An AUDIENCE FAVOURITE AWARD could be given to the participant with higher televoting, which would not be necessarily the ESC winner.
This year won the most sympathetic performer, but neither the best song (BYSTRA VODA or other) nor the best artistic interpreter (PATRICIA KAAS or other). A real pity!

its not just about the voice
i think they care the everything ( song show etc. )

+ she doesnt need to go anywhere

Again I can not understand how voiceless Hadise who needs to go to a music school to study vocal could get more points than Chiara, lets say....leave alone Jade or Malena. Isnt this funny?

well im surprised again
jury voted but the people didnt (not many )

hmmmm ????
:P

@Adir

No, I don't think so..in 2007 Hungary and FYRM were the last countries that voted. Serbia got 12 from both of them, that's why it maybe reminded u on Serbia :)
Thanks anyway

"And why was Norway's voting window moved to the end? "

Actually, this is something I'd like to find out! - Why did Norway voted last as they were allocated between Swiss and Bulgaria? And, maybe I haven't listened carefully, but no explanation has been given on that during the show.
Maybe someone knows? Eurovizz? :)

@For real!
Advice - if you say that Israel is a country that doesn't vote for Turkey, it is time to go and see the points we gave you...yes, including 2003,2004 and 2006!

@ Eurovizz

Sorry, but I don't accept that explanation. If there were glitches that are only just being checked now, and that were so serious that the full votes cannot yet be published, how could they have announced the points on Saturday?

I am not talking necessarily about knowing exactly how many televotes each country received in each country. I am talking about releasing in full the 1-8, 10 and 12 points allocated by each of the countries' juries and each of the countries' televotes. These sets of points were added together and aggregated to create the combined marks that we saw announced by each country on Saturday night. This is what I want to see, for the semi finals and the finals.

@alex it is nice, of course televoters will vote for whomever they want :) even turkey got 7 points from juries but 3 in total from israel i dont complain about it, it is normal that juries and televoters can disagree :D
