Lina - my point is just that I think that the effect of diaspora voting is pretty limited in norway. ESC is hugely popular, many norwegians vote. And we do NOT have big communities of ex yugoslavians, turks etc.
@Knut , is not neccesary only Bosnian to vote for Bosnia song, also immigrants from all ex yugo countreys who is not participate in the final voting for Bosnia beacuse of the language . For example this year Serbian, Montenegrian, FYRO Macedonian and Slovenian immigrants vote for Bosnia
Eurotale - check the figures from Statistisk Sentralbyrå 010109:
The 15 biggest immigration groups in Norway (counting immigrations and norwegian-born children with parents that have immigrated):
1 Polan. 2 Pakistan. 3 Sweden. 4 Iraq. 5 Somalia. 6 Germany. 7 Vietnam. 8 Denmark. 9 Bosnia-Hercegovina (around 16 000). 10 Iran. 11 Tyrkey (around 15 000). 12 Russia. 13 Sri Lanka. 14 Kosovo. 15 UK (around 12 000).
There are 4.8 million people living in Norway. I still claim that 16 000 people from Bosnia would have problems affecting the norwegian votes if they alone were to vote for their country. The same goes for the 15 000 turks.
The polish people here sure have not succeeded. And what about the UK and the german immigrants??
Some people in here seem to explain every turkish, armenian or bosnian sucess with diaspora voting - and the lack of english, german or french success with a "hatered for the big 4"...
Well, it should be quite obvious what I think about that... lol.
Diaspora helps, neighbours helps - but everyone can fail and everyone can be number 1.
@ Malte
Thank you very much!
All you said is true! And Balkan is very good in ESC, that's why we did well in previous years, not because of diaspora and neighbour voting like many used to say!
@Lily Bel
What an excellent taste you have! Add Amila Glamocak (1996) and Dino & Beatrice (1999) and we concur completely. "Rijeka bez imena" was (co-)composed by a then 27 years old lady from Serbia, Aleksandra Milutinovic, as far as I recollect. What an incredible aptitude! The peak of pop musical capabilities - there can be no doubt. (And that's actually my own vision of Eurosong quality standard.)
Finns and Swedes have a tight connection to each other, maybe that's why Finland got many points from Sweden. The other reasons can also be that there're a lot of Finns in Sweden, or that Lose Control appealed a lot to the Swedish public because of the schlager/techno elements.
Knut, we have a lot of Bosnian immigrants. The Bosnians are the third/fourth largest immigrant-group in Norway (right behind The Swedes, Pakistani and probably Iraqis)
@Knut Viking , Balcan ballands is very popular everywhere he he he, personal i love Balcan ballands , but this year Bosnia songs wasnt a balland , maybe in some part of song have Balcan influense music but it wasnt a Balland, Croatia have pure Balcan balland put from all nordic countreys only Iceland give to Croatia points and only 1 point
Bosnian entries are fantastic, I only didn't like last year Laka! But Marija Sestic, Hari Mata Hari, Regina, Feminnem = THE BEST!
Lina
I often like the Bosnian entries. I've voted for them 2 years in a row now. The Finnish song was my 3rd favourite in the final
Lina. I actually have Bosnia as one of my favourite countries. We do not have many immigrants from Bosnia in Norway. And these last years the ESC has had great viewing rates. And many people voting. Inevitably the huuuuge majority of the voters must be norwegians. I really don't think any given group of immigrants can make a big impact on the norwegian votes.
The "balcan" sound is popular here (as opposed to f.ex iberian sound, we hardly never give any points to Spain/Portugal).
So, at least when it comes to Norway - I believe the points to Bosnia (and to Serbia when sending "balcan ballads"
are a result of the fact that the sound suits norwegians.
I had guessed 10 points from Norway to Bosnia this year. I am still very curious to see how the people voted here.
Lina
I understand now that you were dissapointed in our song.
But I didn`t understand the way in which you said it......almoust everything was terrible.
But Lina, forget it ! All right ?
No one knows who Patricia Kaas is in Sweden. You don't get very far here with a boring song, I'm sorry to tell you that.
The Finnish entry was liked in Sweden. It appeared at the charts and has been played several times at radio. Neighbour voting is a pathetic explanation - people liked the song here.
@Marianna ur from Finland so maybe u dont understand that Finnish songs wasnt soo good in Russia, but as i third person who like Finnish song i was completly dissapointed
Maybe dont deserve last place , but for sure dont deserve to be in top 15
i want to ask something, in Nordic countreys living too many immigrants from Bosnia or always Nordic countreys people like Bosnian songs ? Beacuse every year all Nordic countreys give good points to Bosnia and i m very curius about that
For Nordic counterys neighbours i cant say anything this year beacuse all of them have good songs and they deserve the points , but i m not agree for Finnish song voting from Swedish televoters, I like Finnish song , but when i saw they r performance on Russia stage i was dissapointed , very very bad performance and bad bad bad dresses ( especially the girls ) , so i thing 7 points from televoters to Finland is too much, in that case i found very cheap neighbour voting .
@ melina sour grapes, now you know how it feels to be at the bottom, im sure that next year you will not pick a meicore act like waldos people again, from the top to the bottom in just 3 years thats a great result lol
FOR THEM THE CONTEST WAS MOSTLY NORWAY-ICELAND-ESTONIA-AJERBAIJAN-DENMARK-FINLAND
Lucas GR
I voted for those songs for the simple reason that I liked them
I also voted for Bosnia and The UK. Sorry, France didn't appeal to me.
Apparently I'm a typical Swede
Very interesting. So we (Finland) were 4th in Swedish televotes, but only got 4 points from Sweden, so apparently the jury gave us no points at all...
If juries killed Sweden's chances, as some say, then we can say it with even more justification.
@ city flyer: "What is it that Scandinavia has against the UK ...all five of them Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Denmark all gave the UK hardly any points at all. Why?"
Err, because they didn't like the song..?!
Let's face it, it was mediocre and boring, and only did so well becvause of the juries voting for a famous name. The UK people really should get off their high horse, for god's sake!

You can visit and find everything about Eurovision
ALL SCANDINAVIAN & EX SOVIET COUNTRIES VOTED VERY CLEVER.....EXCLUDING No2 & No 3 FAVORITES (GREECE & UK).
ALSO THEY DID NOT VOTE FOR OTHER FAVORITES LIKE FRANCE-MALTA & SPAIN.
FOR THEM THE CONTEST WAS MOSTLY NORWAY-ICELAND-ESTONIA-AJERBAIJAN-DENMARK-FINLAND !
VERY CLEVER INDEED!
I ONLY WONDER IF IT WAS BY COINSIDENCE OR NOT....
OMG!!! What a shit voting. Almost all of the points were for neighbours or countries with diaspora. SHAME ON SWEDISH TELEVOTERS!!!
i want to see also jury voting
tasteless swedes voting for neighbours and not france.
Good, smart televoting! France was NOT a good song, it was boring, her voice was old and shaky and it didn't deserve as much as fanatics here claim. Greece and UK missed out, great too. This televoting is in line according to the final results which is why it was GOOD televoting because it matched the final results. The jury voting on the other hand was spread and unprofessional and NOT in line with the final results in most cases. In fact, the juries gave points to some of the MOST tasteless performances like Ukraine.
And when will people get it? We won't be rid of neighbourly voting as long as we have televoting at all, but ALSO because they DESERVED it. All Nordic countries had good songs this year, the years they haven't been good they haven't qualified etc. We AND the juries have to vote for neighbours when they deserve it. It is ridiculous to think that it will only be fair once we don't vote for each other at all.
After seeing the results of televoting and jury voting - it is clear that televoting is the most democratic and the best choice. The juries consisted of a bunch of non-music related people such as journalists and radio people (they don't know music any better than us, they just play it and they only play pop). The juries vote too spread so that there is no clear favourite or a "best song". If they were professional they'd just vote more similar to each other, but they don't. They are just voting for their favourites and according to their taste (just like us) so I might as well be a member of the jury too...
And just to add that 2.000.000 people watched that video on You tube!
Good job Waldo!
@ Marianna
I'm listening to studio version of "Lose control" these days alot! That's good sign and means that not only placing in FINAL is important! And I watch official video alot, this is deffinetely the best video this ESC! Waldo made very good job with that video!
Thank you for your votes, Sweden !
Lina " Finland was terrible on stage, awful performance, awful dresses..... "
Sad, that you think and write here like that.....but it is your opinion. Finland was last and got 22 points, but obviously you think it was too much.
Personally I don`t understand the Spanish points. Soraya would have deserved more than 23 points.
I don't think that this is a horrible televoting result. On the contrary, almost every good song is within the top 10.
The only mistake is the very low position of France..
