"An enormous production"

Eurovision Song Contest 2010 dates confirmed

The host city as well as the dates for the 55th edition of the Eurorovision Song Contest have now been confirmed by the EBU and NRK although the exact venue remains still to be decided.

As announced today by the EBU and host broadcaster NRK, the final dates for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will be Tuesday 25 May and Thursday 27 May for the semi finals, the Grand Final will take place on Saturday 29 May, 2010 in Oslo. The final decision on the venue is still to be made. According to NRK two options are being considered for the venue of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest: the Telenor Arena in Fornebu which can host up to 23.000 spectators and the Oslo Spektrum, the home of the MGP final, which is much smaller with a capacity of 9.000 spectators.

"It is a great honour for NRK to host the Eurovision Song Contest once again. Together with our colleagues of the EBU we are determined to organise this event in line with the highest standards," said Hans-Tore Bjerkaas, Chief Executive of NRK. Norway is already quite experienced in the organisation of the Eurovision Song contest having hosted it twice before in 1986 and 1996, as well as having hosted Junior Eurovision in 2004.

"We are looking forward to work with NRK on this enormous production. One year from now, they will have the opportunity to show Europe and the world what they are capable of," said Svante Stockselius, Executive Supervisor of the contest on behalf of the EBU.

I think the dates are just fine. It's usually around 20-25 °C in Oslo that time, and soon to be summer.

The Arena choice: I vote for Telenor. It can take 23 000, it's about the same as in Moscow, and that work out fine. On the other hand Oslo Spektrum is situated more central.

A beer in Oslo can cost everything between € 3 and € 9, (€ 1 in the grocery store) depending on which district you're in.

I wander if Oslo 2010 will break the record number of countries (43). It would be a real hit considering the financial crisis that is storming many broadcasters across Europe.

@ Lily Bel

And I did NOT mean the Lordi monsters, of course. ;)
They certainly rocked the house in Athens AFTER A (L)V with her rock ballad.

With my sentence "Unlike :O ... well, you know!"
I meant this year's bad, OLD-FASHIONED and W.H.I.N.I.N.G. (S)song. I dread its reprise in Oslo... :D :D :D :D :D :D

I will NEVER forget "Alvedansen" (L) with Christine Guldbrandsen at the ESC 2006 Athens.

Now, THAT was a beautiful, dreamy SONG. One that even deserved to have won then!!!!
Unlike :O ... well, you know.

Anyway, WE managed to de-tox(!!!) from the ... ESC very quickly!!!
Watch clips from this concert that took place in Athens (L) Greece ... in 7th HEAVEN ;)

I think Johan Olav Koss may be a great athlete to open the televoting. He is still very popular and well known in the Netherlands.

@ sara

great nominees. I forgot about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but IMO, he's a bit too famous to take part in the ESC. UK football fans would find it funny if they saw him on it.
But definitely a skier!!! NORWAY always does well in the winter olympics, and with the 2010 olympics coming soon, NORWAY might even get a new olympic champion/star!

World Idol was smth that I really (L) and I liked Norway (Kurt Nielsen) and Arab states (Diana Karazon from Jordan)!!! :D
Singers from Norway are human alot, I watched video you showed me with Christine Guldbrandsen in Iceland! She was really human too! :D

Marko:
Yes, that was right after he won World Idol. He has a child there he is sponsoring, so he visited him at the same time. TV2 did a shooting in conjunction with a national tv-collection for the poor children and needy in Africa.. Wasn't it an amazing performance live, in the middle of nowhere? ;) Hehe, yes, if Rybak gives you so much "pain", you should try to forget him ;)

OK, I will try to stop with that, I should try to forget Rybak! :)

Marko:
The song in the link start at 3:50 :)

Marko:
Yes put that picture on your desktop background, that would be cool :) Thanks (I'm "on fire" in that pic) LOL! :) Btw. Can't you please stop your "Fairytale-hating", or at least your expression of it. ..As you can see in one of the other articles I get a bit "lost in despair" sometimes because of that....so I calm down listening to this song...hehe:

LOL, I thought some pics are Paris, but some are from Norway! :)
WOW those beaches are fantastic! I can put second pic on the desctop background! ;)

Marko:
Hehe ;) I don't think any of the pics from the second video was from Norway. Didn't you see the Eifel Tower and Arc de Triomphe among others? :P ;)

Would you imagine we had beaches like this in Norway? (It really is in Norway, hehe) :)

Marko:
Besides...the best music comes from the 80's...hehe ;)

Marko:
Don't laugh at me...hehe :P I meant a modern 2010 version of "Fra Lippo Lippi"...not the old one from the 80's...(that was just to show who they were..) hehe ;)

@ Sara
They had big hits in the late 80's (also abroad)

LOL Sara we want smth modern! :D :D

How great it would be if these guys (new wave/synth-pop band) called "Fra Lippo Lippi" (from Nesodden, the same place as Alexander has grown up) could get together and enter ESC for Norway in 2010 :) They had big hits in the late 80's (also abroad) :D

Shouldn't have to be like that

@w g: EBU has told many many times that the televotes will NOT be published... but what the broadcasters choose to do themselves with their countries televotes is up to them...

my god - sometimes it feels like noone here actually are reading the articles...

Kush Athens:
So anyone got any ideas to who might open the televoting next year (that is if Norway restarts it!)
I think .... Andreas Thorkildsen (Javelin Thrower).
(I don't know any other Norwegians, or at least I don't think I do!)

Here are my nominees:
If its going to be an athlete I agree with Eurovizz... Our beloved Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be a very good choice (the striker with 126 goals for Manchester-United in 11 years, the super-sub or the babyfaced assassin as he was called...hehe). When he retired last year he got a testimonial match with 70 000 spectators at Old Trafford. He is now the coach for the reserve team of Man-U. He has also received a place in the honorable list of Man-United's legends of all time (along with Bobby Charlton, George Best, David Beckham, Eric Cantona among others) :) Solskjaer is together with Sir Bobby Charlton appointed as the official ambassadors of Manchester United.

http://news.bbc.co.u(...)lskjaer99_getty.jp g

Aksel Lund Svindal (alpine skier, 2 time overall winner of the world cup, 3 gold medals World championship, one silver and one bronze).
http://www.worldcup.(...)allery_742_large.jpg

Thor Husovd (a 6 time Tour de France stage winner and one time Green jersey overall winner). http://www.steephill(...)4-victory-salute.jpg .

If its going to be a musician or other "famous" persons:
Morten Harket or A-ha are good choices (even though Morten was the host in 1996) [url= http://www.redmoonre(...)rabilia/aha-card.jpg

Natassia Malthe (Hollywood actress and model with a Norwegian father) [url= http://www.22dakika.(...)malthe-picture-1.jpg

Kristanna Loken from Terminator 3 (all her grandparents are Norwegian) [url= http://www.elroyonli(...)istannaloken_002.jpg

Paris Hilton (or maybe not) LOL! ..she is of Norwegian ancestors too (her great-great-grandfather was Norwegian)….hehe. :P (no need to post a picture of her) :D

…. LOL! I went a bit too far now (with the last 3 mentioned), I know….hehe.

Ups…so sorry about the long post….

Well, all very exciting, but we still haven't had the full results of ESC 2009 yet, almost two weeks after the event.

So I ask again: is the EBU going to publish the full televoting and jury votes for both the final and semi finals? And if not, why not?

Furthermore, didn't the rules state that the identities of the juries in all the countries should be revealed before or during the final? Where are these lists of names?

The EBU must have all of this information and it wouldn't be a huge technological or administrative feat to publish it all on eurovision.tv. Any answers from them at all about this, esctoday?
