Punching out

United Kingdom: Second single from Jade

Jade Ewen, British representative who came 5th at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, will soon release the second single of her album, entitled Punching out.

Jade Ewen will release her brand new song, Punching out, prior to the publication of her debut album, in September. The track is penned by Ina Wroldsen, also responsible for Saturday's Up and Work, and produced by Andreas 'Quiz' Romdhane and Josef Larossi.

The 21-year-old singer represented the United Kingdom in Moscow, ending up 5th in the Final. With regard to this, Colin Barlow, head of the record label, said: "The whole experience has been kind of surreal, but in terms of looking for a platform to get a new artist to a mass audience, it’s a really good one.

"A lot of people are cynical about Eurovision but for Jade it's put her in the forefront of people's minds. The result wasn't an embarrassment and because we took it seriously other countries did as well", he concluded.

I think it is sad the way in which she was not promoted at home before the contest when her song could have been a big hit. Instead "My time" was released after the contest in the UK and got to no 27 and then out. It's a shame and now they are releasing "punching out" which will no doubt follow the same fate. Given that everything is just downloads these days it is very difficult for anyone to become a star anyway..just a one week wonder ...sadly. jade is fantastic and deserves better.

Good luck Jade. You did a brilliant job in representing UK in Moscow and getting UK back into the top 5 after a long time. We are proud of you.

Well considering that "Its My Time" didnt get much if any airplay on British Radio especially Radio 1 which is where the chart music mainly gets played I dont think that 27 was too bad at all. When you think that Alexander Rybak went to Number 10 on downloads only I think she did really well

I HOPE SHE WILL BE BIGGER THAN BEYONCE... AND IT WILL BE EUROVISION THAT STARTED IT!!!!! :)

I hope she does well, I fear she won't given "My time" was only a minor hit ... but if her new songs are good then i don't see a problem :)

Mina, it wasn't Jade's comment, it was Colin Barlow, head of the record label. He probably knows as much about Eurovision as I do about the micro-economy of south-west Vietnam.

Keith Timmons no i don't think so!Other countries take Eurovision seriously no matter what the U.K does...You find that strange?

Smart move to release a second single because "my time' was easily forgotten the day after the final...

I thought she meant other countries took the contest seriously because of the Uk and it didn't make sense

Why not? Are you suggesting the UK is not a major influence on other countries?

LOL "The forefront of peoples minds!"... is that why despite all the BBC plugs "My Time" was a smaller UK chart hit than 14 of the last 17 UK entries.... only 2000, 2001 and 2008 were lower on the chart.... how on earth do they think a follow-up or album will sell?
