Eurovision 2010: NRK and EBU organisers meet

Last month, Norway won the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in which NRK has become the host broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Key positions have been filled by the host broadcaster in the running of the event next year.

Jon Ola Sand (48), has been recently appointed as NRK's Executive Producer for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. Hasse Lindmo (36) will be the Television Producer, while Stian Malme (39) the current NRK Head of Delgation for the Eurovision Song Contest is to become the Venue Manager. Evy Hauffen (56) was appointed Line Producer, she was involved in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 in Oslo as Production Manager.

On Wednesday and Thursday last, the newly appointed production team met with organisers of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to be briefed about the task that's ahead. Discussions on various topics such as the technical aspects of the contest, the content of the three live shows, infrastructure, marketing, branding, new media, press facilities and communication took place.

Svante Stockselius, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest at the EBU, spoke to eurovision.tv and was impressed by NRK's approach, "They already filled their key positions, did in-depth research to what it takes to organise this enormous event and they are eager to lay the foundations of the production before summer holidays."

NRK is currently in the process of selecting the venue where the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will take place, which may be revealed in a couple of weeks. In September, the EBU Reference Group (the governing body) for the Eurovision Song Contest will visit the preferred venue to officially approve it.

The gay ESC host Rybak was talking about was most likely Per Sundnes. Sturla is NOT an ESC host and as far as I know he has no connection with Rybak.

That list of requirements was awfully long. I would hate to be an organiser of the show, looks so demanding and busy, lol.

I hope Norway will pick this year a song in Norwegian. Being the host (and probably don't wanting to win for 2nd time in a row), NRK should pick folk songs in Norwegian for the MGP.

"Happy" news,

Oslo, from being the most expensive city in the world last year, has now went down from the list to being the fifth most expensive city in the world in 2009, right behind Copenhagen, Paris, Osaka and Tokyo. This is the first time since January 2006 that Oslo is not placed as number one.

However, Oslo is still the far most expensive fast food-country in the world.

..and I guess the Russians this year did put too much effort on the stage, media coverage, euroclub etc. to organize an outdoor party with big screens for those who didn't get the expensive tickets to the Arena, lmao

@ Lily Bello
Yes Marko, for sure :) Almost all teens in Oslo go to this concert every year, hehe! And I think the LCD screens will be on that place for people who want to watch the ESC finals outdoor next year ;) The place looks kinda small from those videoes Sara did show, but it's huge and a very big area.

and the comback of AQUA. Remember them?

Reminders of my childhood... "A wee petite Danish band", if I remember Søren and Natasja correctly from 2001.

Blimey, with all those requirements and all the space they need, they might have to make Sara's house a commentators booth!

And it's all those requirements that makes me think Telenor Arena isn't just the best choice, but the only choice. Unless Spektrum has given in to middle-aged spread, I can't see the programme fitting in there anymore. With Telenor, you can make the seating area smaller if you need to, but you cannot make Spektrum bigger. Part of me would like to see it in the Oslo Spektrum as I loved the 1996 contest there, but the contest has doubled in size since then. But I'm happy with either venue.

Incidentally, I wonder if Telenor will be a sponsor of the contest? If they aren't, as I read the requirements, they will have to change the name of the arena.

With regards to Ozi,

Maybe there are no advisors,ESC today has not recieved many donations for it's upkeep so maybe can't afford them.I myself would donate but am currently out of work due to illness. But that maybe answers the question. As soon as I'm back in work,I will donate to the upkeep of ESC today.(please note I am in no way suggesting this is your fault Ozi,I am just answering your question)

Rybak gave an exclusive interview to croatian nova tv and they even said he is prepairing duet with croatian singer Franka Batelic. But this tv show if full of some scandals and lies so I'm not sureis it true.

Franka Batelic!? :O Oh I love her (L)

Btw he was talking about his ex girlfriend and about gay rights. I'm not sure but he mentioned some very popular esc host from norway but he is gay/lesbian. Who is that host?

That's probably Sturla Berg Johansen, Benjamin ;) http://gfx.dagbladet(...)/jpg/active/320x.jpg (the guy)

Why not show some hotels in Oslo too, and not only 2 - 3 pictures.

To the Admins. Where have you been for the last month?

You state that one should stick to the topic... Inappropriate messages (swearing, racism, hate, etc.) will be deleted and that one risks their account being removed.

So many comments need to be deleted from most these articles yet you have not deleted these comments... whats up with that?
