Luxembourg : David-Alexandre Winter back on tour

David-Alexandre Winter will be part of the succesfull nostalgy-tour Age Tendre Et Tête De Bois in 2010, as well as some dates of the 2009 schedule. He will also take part in La Rose D'Or, next october in Bèziers (south of France).

Last March, on France 2, Patrick Sébastien’s show Les Années Bonheur saw the the comeback of David-Alexandre Winter, who performed the song with which he reached fame overnight 40 years ago, Oh Lady Mary.  One year after this smash hit, David-Alexandre Winter was asked by RTL to represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in Amsterdam. Although both songs have the same building, the Eurovision entry Je Suis Tombé Du Ciel (I fell down from Heaven) got no success at all, as it came last without scoring.

But the man didn’t stop recording. A lot of singles were released along the seventies in France, none doing as well as Oh Lady Mary. In a recent interview published in weekly France Dimanche, the singer, born in Amsterdam 65 years ago, talks about his life. In 1979, he immigrated to the United States. In America, he found the love of his life and settled down to raise a family near Boston, in Massachusetts. However, he never stopped writing and producing music, but also had a job of car dealer. Back in old Europe, David-Alexandre Winter recently published a new album, which can be purchased on his personal website http://www.david-alexandrewinter.com, as well as a double CD including 50 songs, all recorded in the 70’s.

Another project is the publishing of a book on his life, with a special focus on his childhood. “I was part of the 4.000 children who were sent to nazi camps, the same as Anna Frank” he declares. “Only 3 or 4 survived, including me. I was lucky, still more as my parents also came back from those camps”. Talking about his Eurovision experience in France Dimanche, he answered: “This is no good memory to me, not only because I came last. In fact, judges were all against me, because of the people around me. That’s one of the reasons why I left for the USA, in 1979. I needed to do things the way I want”. David-Alexandre Winter represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970 with the song Je suis tombé du ciel, placing 12th and last with nil point.

"Oh Lady Mary" was a part of my childhood! A great success in its italian version, too.

I love 2 ESC winners from Luxembourg very much:
1. 1983 - Corine Hermes - "Si la vie est cadeau"
2. 1972 - Vicky Leandros - "Apres toi"
:D :D
So I wanna Luxembourg come back at ESC! :)

Luxembourg took part with some beautiful songs in the past. It will be a huge shame for them not to come back. The same goes for Italy. Oh I do miss the Italian language. So lovely to listen to.

Hope to see Luxembourg back next year with Austria, Italy and Monaco armed with great songs. It will be so good for them to get good results on their return. Please return you four! The ESC just isn't the same without you.

RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg is an active member of the EBU and could enter if they wished (You can check that on the EBU website - and one would hope the EBU knows who their members are).

I'd be surprised if Luxembourg is interested in returning though. At least, not yet. If France continues to do well, and if Monaco, Austria and Italy consider returning, then that may have some influence over Luxembourg. I'm not sure what the attitude towards the contest is like in Luxembourg, but I'm guessing it may not be too popular. And lets not forget apart from French and German, the country could sing in their own national language - Lëtzebuergesch!

Luxembourg must to be EBU active member and then to come back, beacuse since 1994 it is EBU member but not active. And personal i dont thing that Luxembourg have any plans to rejoin ESC since almost every year we have new voting system and that voting systems helps some countreys only. If Luxembourg rejoin do u thing that Luxembourgian songs lyrics is going to be in english? NO WAY. Only France and German Lyrics and since that 2 languages is not popular any more why to come back? To have same luck like Monaco and France? They r not stupid to rejoin just to give points to Turkey, Greece, Ukraine, Russia, Bosnia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Fyro macedonia, Georgia and Romania and get nil points like Belgium and Netherlands ;)

Ouf, the first impression when I entered to the site was that "Luxembourg is back with Winter".
The most unlikey comeback to ESC, so sad....
