40 acts in the running for 2010
Azerbaijan Eurovision shortlist decided
Adil Karimli told APA “About 40 candidates were selected in the first round. The jury will make choice among these candidates in the next round”. The date for the next round of the selection process has not yet been determined.
The jury is once again comprised of:
- ITV Director General Ismayil Omarov, rector of Baku Music Academy Farhad Badalbayli
- Executive director of the Friends of Azerbaijan Culture Foundation Ibrahim Guliyev
- President of Azerbaijan National Music Committee of the International Music Council Lala Kazimova
- Director of Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society Murad Adigozalzadeh
- Sector chief of Culture and Tourism Ministry Manzar Nuraliyeva
- Representative of Youth and Sport Ministry Farhad Hajiyev.
Earlier this year Aysel Teymurzadeh and Swedish based producer/singer Arash represented the country with Always and took third place at the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow.
Azerbaijan is currently under investigation by the EBU over media reports that residents that voted for neighbouring Armenia have been questioned by the police over matters of national security and unpatriotic behaviour. Reports that the voting number for Armenia was blocked for Azeri viewers is also being investigated. It is possible that if found to be true, Azerbaijan could face a heavy fine or a ban from participating at the Eurovision Song Contest for between one and three years. The topic is about Azeri participation in 2010 and the ongoing selection proces. I feel very sad to see that some people made a nationalistic battle over here. Where are moderators? Why do not they ban users who misuse the discussions in order to show the "culture" she/he gained while raising up. What are all those curses and insults? All these discussions, what a shame!!!!!!!!

Do you remember that Turkey during WWI was Germany's alli. During WWII, although pretending to be "neutral" still Turkey was in Nazi Germany's side. Despite that data the great majority of real turks have a little or not at all in common with South Europeans or even Greeks. By the way, I have to say that Lina from Cyprus is not stupid. I was actually surprised when she told about Sweden and UK supporting Turkey's EU bid. That is because they are the Trojan horse of America within the EU together with Italy. Europe and America are fighting between each other for control over Turkey. My beautiful country is a slave country because of the so called religious government who is also against Ataturks principles.
I do not agree with Lina that Turkish troops have to withdraw from Cyprus, because there are still Greek troops on the island too. If Turkish troops withdraw, there is no guarantee for the safety of the people living in the north. It could turn out to a catostrophy, remember that thanks to the Turkish peace operation the violence on the island has stopped. Greek Cypriots need to agree to re-unite. Maybe a federal state with a greek-cypriot president and a turkish-cypriot vice president and all Turkish cypriots can return south and all Greek cypriots can return north. But I don't see this happening in the near future since this is all a game of greater powers to keep us enemies, so they can profit from it. There is allways a bigger fish..

By the way, just because a group of people speak Turkic, does not mean they are from Central Asia. Just because everybody in Turkey speaks Turkish, does not mean that 20% of it's population are greco-anatolians, or another 20% are armenians. Turkey has DNA from all groups. I want to point out that ancient people of Azerbaijan are still there, mixed or not mixed with Central Asians who speak a Turkic language now. There is one thing that combines a blond Chuvash with blue hairs from Russia with a tanned skin Uyghur with green chinese looking eyes and that is that we have one culture, history and language in common. Which we call 'Turk' and like many who want us to say, we are very proud of it
