Tragic death at 33

Eurovision fans mourn Steven Gately

Steven Gately, member of Boyzone, one of Ireland's most successful music acts of all time, died tragically this weekend. Today, a post mortem revealed that he died of natural causes. The 33 year old performed at the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest as part of the interval act.

Boyzone performed the song Let the message run free as the interval act at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin. Lead singer of the group Ronan Keating also co-presented the show, the fourth time in five years that Ireland hosted the competition. His death on Saturday night sparked speculation about possible causes, but it has been confirmed that he died of natural causes. The remaining members of the band have travelled to Spain to bring his body home to Ireland. They will stay with his body before the funeral, due to take place in Dublin this weekend. The band were notoriously close and called Steven their "little brother".

Steven also enjoyed success as a solo singer and performed the lead role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat in Londoon. His sudden death at the age of 33 was a tragedy and esctoday.com join fans around the world in sending our condolences to his family and band members.

Louis Walsh told Sky News today that the boys are planning to give him the biggest send off of all time and Dublin is set to come out in force for a man that won the hearts of fans at home and around the world.

Very tragic...
But it really hasn't much to do with eurovision...except he performed an interval act... many people have done that...

Richard M, you should read the article again and easily find several connections to Eurovision. Also, you will find a video link if you look carefully.

Of course you can die of natural causes at 33. I knew someone at the age of 20 who died of Sudden Death Syndrome.

Anyway very sad story ... but what's this got to do with Eurovision ???
