Due to financial difficulties
Hungary withdraws from Eurovision Song Contest
Hungarian broadcaster explained that financial difficulties are behind the country's withdrawal from the competition next year. MTV’s budget is expected be cut down by more than fifty percent in 2010, therefore the company's management has already taken several radical steps, for instance, they have reduced their programs, and fired many of their employees.
Hungary was represented by Ádok Zoli this year in Moscow with the song Dance with me, not reaching the final stage of the competition.

bad news
nox was great...
Why not change the concept of Eurovision totally and only stage the competition once every two years, in order to cut expenses?
I knew it! I had that feeling for Hungary!!
Believe me ppl in Hungary nobody cares about ESC!!
dont worry as we say in Cyprus the person who take 2 place win in love
not seconds.. minutes* :[
Omagad, yes its true.. i was late some few seconds grr
@Jessie my reaction was number 100
Well, i hope to see Hungary in 2011, i really do.
ps: reaction #100
Hungary is not standar ESC countrey, since 1994 withdraw 4 times and also stay out from ESC for a long time, personal every year i dont have Hungary's participation sure, i dont trust that countrey sorry.
Sad news, but when they return i hope they get rid of their spokesperson, she really didn't seem very enthusiastic at giving the votes.
Zoli Adok was just great.I'm sad that they had to quit!
very sad news
The financial crisis has hit Magyarorszag hard.
Azerbaijan will miss them since they give them high points.
im not convinced that having only 1 semi final would save money, im sure the revenue from televoting is huge
and it goes on and on......... who is next?
Bye Hungary
! I'm gonna miss you so much! Come back soon!

Perhaps next year just one semifinal will be enough. This would be nice in order to save money for the organizers as well as for the participants (reduce the stay in the expensive Olso)
Wikipedia show 27 confirm countries, but ok France and Spain didnt confirm yet and both countries are sure in participation list. But Armenia says that maybe withdraw from ESC 2010 due to Azerbaijan issue . Also countries who maybe are going to withdraw are : Moldova, Montenegro, Croatia, Andorra, Estonia and FYRO Macedonia. Personal i m afraid withdrawing from Montenegro, Andorra and Moldova and maybe Armenia.
@ alex, so far there are 29 countrys confirmed to participate, plus liechtinstien said they will if the EBU grants there membership in time for the countest. i don't think estonia and andorra will withdraw mind, due to estonia finally making the final and andorra might now want to try out the 50.50 system to see if they can get into the finals, but they might do internal selections to save money.
I'm sorry that Hungary had to withdraw. I hope they'll be back next year.
How many countries do we have next year (for the moment) ?
I want to have FULL HOUSE in Oslo
You'd better invite some friend over, that's unfortunately the only way you'll get a full house I'm afraid.
Withdrawals happen unfortunately, and MTV with the loss of half of it's funding looks like it's in some deep poo - and I guess right now their priority isn't a music contest (or circus
). While I doubt it would help here, I do think the contest should trim its size in future, but so many of the general public watch Eurovision because of the "show" these days.
OMG
Hungary and Czech, please come to Norway
I wanna see you, and I want to have FULL HOUSE in Oslo
I'm sorry of our broadcaster's (MTV) decide, but we can't do anything. There is a financial problem, but i hope we can return in 2011 and we can send the best song ever from Hungary

Wait untill a few Western European countries start withdrawing... than EBU will react.
That was fatal, we suspected it, and this is not the end: who is the next one? and for how much years? Countries don’t want to take part anymore in this too expensive contest in general. Furthermore, is true that is no more one festival worthy of its name, it lost too much interest: indeed, there’s no more orchestra, there’s never more floral decorations, singers s' equip in a wretched way, in short, rather to organize a true song festival, EBU rents an enormous and very expensive arena to show that Eurovision is considered as a Football Match. But with all the respect that I owe to EBU, Eurovision will be never a Football Match and will have never nothing to do with it. Conclusion: this happened because EBU do not want listen to people’s suggestions.
looks like this financial downturn has affected quite a few countries! anyways...the ESC still has too mnay countries in it! i miss the days when it was more simpler, say for instance about 24/26 or so countries
