National final in February
FYR Macedonia confirms Eurovision participation
Over the last few months, rumours arose claiming that the FYR Macedonia would not be able to make it to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest due to financial difficulties involving the country's national broadcaster MKRTV. Now, the station has confirmed that FYR Macedonia will not miss the Oslo edition.
A national selection process will be held in the second half of February featuring a total of three shows, two semifinals and a final, where 28 songs will fight it out for the honour to represent the Balkan country. 14 songs will be performed in each semifinal, and a total of 8 will make it to the final. The winner entry will be decided by a mix of televote and 6-member jury vote at a 50/50 split. Televoting changes introduced to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will be implemented to the FYR Macedonian selection as well, opening the voting window in the beginning of the shows and closing 15 minutes after the last performance.
FYR Macedonian broadcaster has called for songs and has invited artists to submit their contributions from November 10th until December 20th.

I'm glad to hear that Macedonia will participate, but is there any way that they could shorten their name?
Former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia - Ancienne République Yougoslave de la Macédoine
Takes a very long time to say! If they had one of the better songs, getting lots of top marks, the voting would be a lot longer! lol
@Daniel in my last reaction i didnt speak for Ireland and UK
Yet again the UK and Ireland cannot be included in that as since the current voting system was introduced in 1975 the UK didn't vote for Ireland on 7 occasions and Ireland didn't vote for the UK on 6 occasions.
Guys the points issue is not only 12 or 10 points who some countries gives every year to each other, some countries almost every year voting each other with lower points even and if they r songs is shits, and u know in ESC one countrey maybe win with one or two points higher from second countrey , so even and 1 point maybe make the different
Yeah, Malta loves the UK, they have given us the incredible average of 5 points over the years and Ireland love us nearly as much, an amazing average of 4.9 points. The UK loves Ireland even more, giving a whooping average of 6.2 points.
Now let me see, Greece has given Cyprus an average of 10.4 points and Cyprus has given Greece an average of 11.2 points. I suppose their love is just stronger than ours
@Axel, Malta loves UK , and Portugal loves Spain
Belgium love Netherlands , Baltic countries loving each others, Ireland love UK . I thing the only countrey who has no "lover" is Israel
But usuall Israel gives 12 and 10 points to Ukraine and Russia so that 2 countries i m sure they love Israel, but is love with no points from them
It's actually quite funny, if you go onto Diggiloo Diggilee and you see who gives most of the points to each others, it's all balkan. All the ex-Jugus countries just spread all their love and votes amongst each others. Belgium, Israel, Netherlands, Germany, France seem to absolutely adore the Aremnian entries, Romania and Moldova have a 100% love relationship. So have Russia and Armenia. All the Scandies just share everything with each others. Azerbijan and Turkey always share each other 12's. Cyprus and Greece have a longlasting relationship of 12's..... So only a few countries are not mentioned, Malta, Portugal, etc....
Axel, yet more revealing is the fact that 21 countries have never voted for FYR Macedonia in the finals and 9 more countries have given just 1-5 points.
Absolutely Daniel, 100 % Correct mate. Macedonia is one of those countries that only survived based on the help from neighbouring states..... Sad really.
Interesting Statistics
In Eurovision finals, 53% of votes to FYR Macedonia came from former Yugoslav countries. 33% came from Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Switzerland and Turkey. That just leaves 14% from all the other countries in the contest.
Good luck Macedonia!
Certainly, the stories about "in and outs" of this year are even more confussing than last year.
The NRK project manager, Mr. Ola Sand, declared two days ago that "such countries like Monaco and Luxembourg have indicated that they wish to participate in Oslo". Really?? I thought that TMC wasn't interested due to financial reasons...
I think that some broadcasters have no clear wishes about participation or not in the contest. This year promise to be a real soap opera about this issue...
I've liked many Macedonian entries, but not the entries from the past two years. Macedonia 2009 was horrible
Good luck FYROM
Great news! Macedonia had one of the best NF's this year.
@Tk yes
2004 was my favory
'Let me love you' and 'Ninanajna' were the only songs from Macedonia that deserved to pass from the Semi-final stage.
The 2009 entry was Awful, Just like many other Macedonian entries from past years..
If Macedonia take part this time they will have to have a pretty good song, as the Balkan juries in previous contests before Juries (1993,1994,1995 ect) hardly awarded each other any points at all. So call that tough love. Juries from the 90's predicted the top song for each decade. In the 00's it all went out of control. (but 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007) the votes were okay... but could have been better.
2009 was the best year from the 00's voting wise, and 2010 can only get better with Juries in the Sf.'s too.
@lina: Kala my dear! esi??
I know its been forever!
So 2004 was ur fave?
@T K , hellooooooooo long time to see you

@daniel: bahahaha cheers champ, been a while since i vented my spleen here... ive seen elena live in sydney as she is amazing, i just wish she didnt poo her pants on stage at esc, or decide to take the prost... xD outfit to athens with her
