Estonia to participate in Oslo 2010
The Estonian broadcaster will stick to the successful formula that brought them a valuable 6th place this year in Moscow, the national selection contest Eesti Laul, whose regulations will be published on November 16th. Nevertheless, the competition will be simplified and shortened in order to cut expenses.
One of the members of the Estonia Enterprise board, Maria Alajõe, has stated that the foundation has decided to support the national broadcaster because Eurovision is a good opportunity to introduce the country to an audience of nearly 150 million people.
ERR president, Margus Allikmaa, has shown his happiness and thanked EAS for their financial support. Mr Allikmaa went on saying that "Eurovision is an event that no doubt offers a chance for small countries to showcase themselves" in front of a very large number of viewers.
Also, Heidi Pruuli, editor-in-chief at ETV, the television branch of ERR, stressed on the "disappointment" that many fans could have felt if finally Estonia had decided to withdraw from the contest. Eurovision is a very popular show with Estonians especially after winning it back in 2001, something that "boosted self-awareness and national pride"
Estonia was represented in Moscow 2009 by Urban Symphony with the song Rändajad, landing on 6th place in the final.

Great news! Good luck and sing in Oslo.
Estonia always wanna withdraw and then suddenly change mind!!!
Hallelujah! Sweet Jesus, PRAISE the lord!
I am glad they are going to participate! I hope they will send something equally good as Urban Symphony, because they were their greatest entry ever!
But i think the Spanish people cared about Eurovision this year ( 2009 ), because they thought for a possible victory with Soraya!
@ Lina
It's like Big Brother. People talk trash about it but then everybody watches it. And in the other hand, all people say they love to watch wildlife documentaries in TVE2, but their ratings are really poor. So hypocrite!!!
@Ramon, how come and Spanish people dont care for ESC ( as you say ) but ESC night is the most important for TVE in terms of viewers rating ?
No doubt about Spanish participation. Despite Spaniards do not care about Eurovision, the night is the most important for TVE in terms of viewers rating. In addition, our HoD (Federico Llano) is one of the members of the current ESC 2010 Commitee.
great news
I am really looking foward to estonian entry and I hope that it will be as awsome as Rändajad (or better)
Now, we will have at least 1 good Song;-)
Dear Estonia, welcome to Oslo!
It makes me really glad to hear that you will participate. It would be a true loss if you decided to withdraw. Good luck finding your candidate!
Great news!
Good luck Estonia for 2010!
@ Lina
Don't forget San Marino! I'd love if SMRTV enters again.
Spain, France, Russia and Latvia will be in. Not so sure about the rest.
good news
i hope this year will have a good song like in 2009.
This is a very good news
Estonia was one of my favourites in the last contest.
I love EESTI
Great news
Potap & Nastia

so now 8 countries didnt comfirm they r participation yet : Montenegro, France, Spain, Moldova, Latvia, Lithuania, Andorra and Russia.
Great news! Maybe the Estonian entries weren't the best in this decade, but Estonia has surely one of the best national finals of all Europe, if not the best. I love Eurolaul/Eestilaul!
Great news
))
That report just summed up my feelings exactly.
Eurovision is a chance for smaller countries to showcase themselves and their talent and my opinion is that the EBU should help the smaller countries who find it hard to fund an entry every year like for example Estonia, Andorra, San Marino and Latvia and maybe even strech it to Monaco and Luxembourg
so that they can do this to not just europe but the rest of the world because countries like Australia broadcast it and America know about it.
''Valuable 6th place''. What Estonia gained from this result so to call it valuable???? ESC sometimes exaggerates!!!
A loan for just a competition in which participation is not guarantee..................... ...................too much!
@ Michael UK
I mean that it will be of lower importance: less participants, lower budgets, less interest. But it's just my opinion and fear.
Always have a soft spot for the Estonian song - even Leto Svet
Good to see them in the competion
(usually have a point for Ireland)
Thank you, Estonia!
Looking foreward to seeing you in Oslo. You had a very good song in 1996, and your song this year was my favourite!
while you say not very many good songs , think about this : do you mean it in the terms of esc or overally ? i actually like the entry from 2003 , even though it placed 21 . isnt the purpose of esc to be different , not to send typical europop ?
